good qualiity resort

28 November 2008
I had a very enjoyable stay in this resort. The overall facility and ambiance is quite impressive. The food is good and the staff are friendly and personable without being intrusive. The swimming pool is cold. I found the bed very uncomfortable. However, I would gladly return as this hotel represented good value for money. The entertainment provided in the evening was top class, with an excellent resident band, and some great acts. The lobby and public area's were well maintained and the resort was spotless throughout.

Great stay

25 February 2008
We had a great February week at this hotel. The room was nice and spacious and all the public areas was of top class, starting with the impressive reception area. The hotel is large, but you still find your own space since it is planned in a clever way. The staff was friendly and helpful and we all felt very comfortable. The buffet restaurant was good, especially for breakfast. Our favourite restaurant was the lunch restaurant by the pool. Do not forget to visit the spa. Extra plus for the bathrobes in the room which became the daytime dress code to/from the pool.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Excellent facilities and plenty of variety of areas to relax. Food was generally very good, particularly breakfast. Coffee was the only negative - it was truly disgusting - I would advise to take your own supply as there are plenty of teas or decaf coffee but if you need a shot then their breakfast offering is not it! I don't know whether it's the layout of the hotel, the beautiful tiled floors or paper thin walls but noise seemed to echo around our room particularly in the early morning. It sounded like furniture being moved around by the roommaids but we could even hear them sweeping the floor in the room above! That was the only minor downside to what is otherwise a spectacular hotel and I would highly recommend it.

Review of 'GRAN HOTEL VILLA DEL CONDE'

We have been to this hotel 4 times now. The second visit was very poor.Bad service, under staffed, pool water very cold. This has now all changed. The service is excellent. Staff friendly and courteous. The food good. Dining experience very good. Although I have to say that the pool water could be a bit warmer, that is my only complaint. I will go back again if this standard is kept up.

As a solo traveller in desperate need of a quiet but comfortable
Hotel - I found the Villa Del Conde to be my oasis in the desert of life!!
A stunning property only completed some fifteen months ago there is much to see and enjoy without leaving the hotel grounds.  Beautiful landcaped grounds with several pools - even a pool with beach at the front of the vast buildings.  Although it was very sprawling it felt intimate and very secure.   On arrival after nine hours travelling I was a little upset at the time it took to check in - there I stood with my passport queing as only we English do - when everyone else came along behind me and pushed in!  Ten minutes later I was acknowledged and from then on in it was fine - offered a glass of Champagne whilst completing the check in procedure (my case was taken from the taxi on arrival and I didnt see it until it was delivered to my room twenty minutes later - didnt have to lug it for miles on my own) I was issued with a map and given details on dining etc. I have to admit that whilst the food was adequate it was lacking in imagination and variety.  I found the service from the wine waiting staff to be slow and was usualy on main course before able to get my hands on a bottle of wine!  The entertainment was provided every evening in the courtyard outside the restaurant and sometimes it was too easy to stay on site rather than leave the Hotel in search of bars along the coast.  After all said and done  I will certainly return to this vibrant hostelry for the architecture and outside spaces alone.  The room was both well designed and very comfortable with excellent maid service daily.  I saw many families in residence and they were well looked after and would think it the ideal venue for a family holiday - not the cheapest but excellent value if you book it through Alpha Rooms!!

Review of 'GRAN VILLA DEL CONDE'

28 November 2005
We ended up in this magnificent hotel purely out of luck! we had won our holiday on an auction site and the accomodation was guaranteed 3 star, allocation on arrival. when we got to the thomsons desk and the nice man told us where we were going he said it was the best hotel on the island. he wasnt wrong!
As i said we were expecting a 3 star, so when the bus driver pulls up to this huge, castle type looking building, we couldnt believe our eyes! the complex is huge and extremely well maintained we´ve even seen people raking out the ´beach´area at 11 o clock in the evening! the pools, though slightly chilly at first are lovely and very well designed and presented with fountains, jacuzzis and as i said, a beach area. there are lots of sun loungers and plenty of quiet corners with views of the sea! The rooms are lovely too, beautifully and tastefully decorated (apart from a strange painting we cant quite make out...) with walk in wardrobe, louge area and a bathroom to die for!!! ok, so im gonna get down to it, THE FOOD! its great. the service is slightly inconsistant with one waiter doing things one way and another, another but all in all its great and there is so much variety in the food and it is all such high quality, im warning you now, do not come here if you are on a diet (my mistake) now i supopse we should get to the bad points, let me think..
WE ARE IN A BLOODY TROPICAL STORM!!!(not that it could be helped in any way by the staff here) and erm... the credit card thing they give you, you can charge everything you buy here to this card, drinks, newspapers, clothes, snacks, everything, which at first seems like a really good idea, but eventually, u have to pay for it, when u leave :(
the hotel is situated nto too far from most places, short walk to shops and a walk in either direction brings you to a beach.
the spa (whilst i havent been to it (yet) looks awesome!  you can have a massage whilst overlooking the sea, as the treatment rooms are basically built into a mountain. before my fingers fall off, one more reccommendation GO TO THE JUMBO CENTRE!its this really cool gay village type place with lots of shops, bars and restaurants, we ended up watching a hilarious drag/karaoke act at *rickys bar* i strongly suggest it, truly excellent night out, and only $4 ish for a taxi there! what mroe could u ask for?? now i shall say adios! and pray the weather clears up for us!
Miss Peberdy, still here!

All aspects of the hotel were excellent apart from the resturant; I would rate it at 3 stars due to inconsistancy in quality, service, varitay and presentation of food.

PARADISE in GRAN VILLA DEL CONDE'

12 March 2005
The lobby had the WOW factor with a magnificent crystal chandelier as a centrepiece. There were two marble staircases leading down to an auditorium, which had a white grand piano. We walked through garden and patio areas and passed by several swimming pools to get to our room. The room was very spacious with a full bathroom, corner shower and his and her sinks, beach towels, bath towels, bathrobes and a large selection of toiletries. Adjacent to the bathroom was a fully fitted dressing room with full-length mirror and a safe (extra charge). Then a King size bed and sofa and chair and TV leading out to a balcony with a lovely sea view and wicker furniture. The room was spotless, and every evening there was a turn down service and the maid folded your pjs and left Swiss chocolates on the bed. But the best part was yet to come "THE FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD!!!!!" At breakfast there was an extensive menu, which ranged from smoked salmon, champagne to boiled eggs and cornflakes. There were freshly cooked omelettes, crepes and waffles plus there was the full fry up if you so wished. Freshly squeezed juices, yoghurts, cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit. The list is endless and the quality was superb. Dinner was an exceptional meal with an unbelievable choice of hot and cold food. As well as the buffet there was a silver service. The chefs cooked steaks and fish and wok dishes fresh to your liking. As with breakfast the list is endless but you need to leave some room for the delicious desserts. There are six swimming pools and loads of sun beds. There is an evening entertainment programme to cater for all tastes. There is a free internet cafe for residents. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and speak very good English. All in all this was an exceptional holiday in a magnificent hotel and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The Gran Hotel Villa del Conde is an unforgettable experience.
