Opulent hotel but...
06 August 2008
For 140GBP (180Euro) per day this hotel leaves a lot to be desired especially when the best bit of the hotel can be enjoyed without being a resident (the spa).

a relaxing week end retreat
29 January 2008
A good hotel in a good position. Right on the sea front near the lighthouse, beach, smart shops and restaurants. the infinity pool is really the centre piece of the hotel and presents a stunning view over the sea.
The food is good, rooms satisfactory. Clientelle is quite old 50+ during late January, with a few young families. Mainly continental European guests influence. A good place to unwind and relax for a week end of week.

September break
11 September 2007
Although this is our 4th visit to Gran Canaria (the first 3 times staying at a 4* hotel in Playa del Ingles) this was the first time we had stayed at this hotel. We found it to be very modern, clean and with a good range of facilities. Although it is a very large hotel there are a number of very nice pools, sunbathing areas, bars and restaurants so overcrowding is not a problem. The food is good and the attitude and friendliness of all of the staff was first class. We will no doubt stay at this hotel again and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Review of 'GRAN HOTEL COSTA MELONERAS'
09 January 2007
Hotel has good facilities especially the Spa area which is a reason to book it just in case you get dodgy weather. This is the 2nd time I have stayed in this hotel in Dec-Jan and the weather can be a bit dodgy so the spa is a good option. It is far from being the best hotel I have stayed in but it is pretty cheap at £500 for a week in Dec-Jan. I wouldn't pay their summer rates personally as you can get a much nicer hotel in Dubai or somewhere more exotic.
The points for improvment are as follows:
1) The wireless internet didn't work last year and again didn't work this year, so I can't remotely connect to my office. This is a complete no go for a repeat booking next year as I need to be able to work abroad. As I am a Microsoft Certified Engineer and use my laptop in hotels all over the world. I know this is the fault of the system and not my skill level.
2) The service, even on Spanish time, is at best...slow !! Better to jump up and down in front of somebody to get a beer. don't sit and wait to be served as it will get dark.
3) The food in the hotel is diabolical. Went for breakfast and dinner once only. Not that bothered as we ate in much better restaurants locally, but if you are going for the half board and intend to use it, then hopefully you aren't fussy about the quality of your food.
Other than that it rates as an average 4 star hotel with loads of potential, but as a cheap week in the sun, excluding the things mentioned above it can't be knocked.

Excellent stay in 'GRAN COSTA MELONERAS'
04 May 2006
4th stay in this large hotel, thirst times with 2 couples of 50+, last 2 times with joung couple and 2 young kids. Always excellent. Though huge hotel the service is great, the facilities are of a high standard, near to the beach and a beautifull boulevard with shops of 4/5 star level. We want to recommend this hotel.

Review of 'GRAN COSTA MELONERAS'
22 February 2006
Facilities were excellent - but need to be made aware that some are charged e.g mini-golf. Feel these should be part of the hotel package! Could do with a bit more of an ambience in the restaurant for dinner tends to be a bit holiday-campish! Variety of food very good. Great activities for younger children but needs some activities for 12 - 18 year olds. Pools and setting perfect and beautifully maintained. An oasis of calm in an otherwise concrete jungle!

a taste of luxury for my mom!
06 October 2005
I took my Mom to this hotel for a relaxing warm 10 day break - she was quite disabled - and this was an answer to prayer. It was absolutely wonderful in almost every way! the staff were so friendly and helpful as I had left my husband and children at home to take my recently widowed mom on a well deserved holiday., and as mom was in a wheelchair, the staff and surroundings were perfect. food wonderful, access perfect and I am now trying to find availability to take my husband there for a romantic break - hopefully I will be more successful when I try again in a few minutes! I would recommend this hotel to all - couples, elderly and children - entertainment is A1.

Review of 'HOTEL GRAN COSTA MELONERAS'

This hotel was very well situated close to beach, local shops etc. Hotel facilities were excellent, very clean, well maintained & could not be faulted. One of the best hotels I have stayed in, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a 4*+ holiday.
