A lovely place to get away to

31 March 2008
Although this place is quite some distance from the South Airport (about 1 hour in a taxi and 95 Euros), it is worth it! We (a professional couple in our mid-20’s) went in late March 2008. The building sits on the side of a cliff and has the most amazing views out to the coast on one side. However, the views on the other side aren’t so great as, although it looks out to mountainous scenes, there is a busy road down the hill. We asked to swap sides and our request was accommodated for a fee. The rooms are amazing- spacious, clean and modern. Each room comes with a shower and a very comfortable Jacuzzi! You can also hire pots and pans and the like for just 5 euros a day if you want to self-cater. There are two swimming pools- one more child friendly and shallow, and one a little distance away that can be used for swimming proper. Both have very charming waterfalls, making it a little different from a standard pool and setting a nice scene to lounge by! The breakfast buffet is most impressive with a vast range of hot and cold foods, even if you are vegetarian! The bar also does some very nice cocktails. You can walk down into the quiet Puerto De La Cruz in about 40 mins (although be warned- it is a steep hill), but there is also a free bus which runs both ways each hour until 7.30pm. Or you can get a taxi very easily for about 5 euros. Here you can find a range of restaurants and bars to meet your needs. Casa Miranda is a particularly nice Tapas restaurant and comes highly recommended. Also the world famous (for good reason) Loro Parque is very close by, and is well worth a visit for those keen on animals. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, and would recommend it to anyone.

Review of 'LAS AGUILAS'

09 April 2007
Imposing hotel on top of a hill - it can be seen from miles around. Fanatastic views of the coast and Mount Teide. Huge rooms - we had a 2 bed apartment with a big lounge and 2 ensuite bathrooms. One of the bathrooms had a jacuzzi bath. It was not really an "apartment" as although it had a kitchen, there were no cooking utensils, plates, cutlery etc so it would be no good for a self-catering holiday.
Most of the guests were Spanish or German and the entertainment was in Spanish. The pools were very clean (but even the heated one was rather cold at times) and the gardens were well kept. There was a wide selection of food at breakfast and dinner and the quality was good on the whole. We found the service to be very good.
