Review of 'LAGOS DE FANABE'
25 November 2006
We booked this hotel and attended in November 2006 due to its ideal situation near to the seafront and bars. Ususally we go self catering but decided to go half board for a total relaxing holiday. I found the reception staff very friendly, helpful and obliging on booking in to the hotel. The room we were allocated was on the second floor, backing onto the 'Calle de Londres'road and taxi rank behind the hotel. This road prooved to be quite busy, and due to the amount of traffic in the early hours, we found it was necessary to keep the french windows closed because of the noise of the constant flow of delivery vans and taxi's. I do prefer an open window during the night due to the temperature and there is no air conditiioning in the rooms. However on the plus side was the fantastic sea view to the front and the sun on the sun terrace in the afternoon which more than compensated. The room itself was, although basic, it was comfortable and comparable to other hotels in the area I have used, with all the basic facilities required like microwave, TV, and oven etc.
The room was cleaned on a daily basis to a high standard with no complaints at all.
The food in the restaurant was a buffet style which was satisfactory but a little un-imaginative, and from previous holidays to the island, I would prefer to go on a self catering basis in future.
The hotel's swimming pool which was odd in the layout of being a number of small pools connected by small connecting waterways. However, the sea is less than 100yards away and is beautifully clear and warm if the pool does get a little full.
Overall this is an adequate and comfortable hotel without the frills if you prefer to spend your holiday out in the area and only wish to use it as a base.
