good hotel- few bad points though!!

28 July 2007
Very nice hotel, would rate it a 4* superior hotel though as the rooms were a little cramped and the breakfast was a little basic and repetitive! Our first day was bliss, the hotel was quiet and we enjoyed sitting in the sun while over-looking the golf courses! The second day was completely different with the English summer holidays starting!!! The place became very busy with loud people and very small children shouting and screaming, even though this hotel is not recommended for very small children!! The pool area was very nice apart from the screaming English kids, who wouldn't shut up, and whose parents didn't give a damn!! We decided to get a car to explore the area which i would highly recommend as the hotel in 10 minutes from cala de mijas up the hill!! We explored Marbella, Porto Banus and Estepona all lovely resorts and a must see!! Airport was about 30 minutes away and around 50 euros in a taxi. I would recommend you visit this hotel off peak when there are no children around so you can have a more enjoyable experience!!! Got a great deal through alpha rooms, considerably cheaper than the hotel and will book with them again. Oh one more thing to watch out for. A lot of other toursits (mainly english) were using the pool and tennis facilities when they didn't stay at the hotel, you need to report this so the hotel can get rid of them!!!

Spent an enjoyable week at the resort. Location is incredible with stunning views. The hotel is also very attractive with a stunning pool and a great spa with loads of treatments.

I played the three courses and also used the Leadbetter academy. It was great not to have to worry about driving and finding other courses. Everything was on-site with a courtesy bus available for the academy.

Staff were polite and friendly. There is a choice of restaurants and also floodlit tennis courts. I would recommend the resort and plan to return.

the hotel let itself down with the noticeable lack of staff, although the staff were very pleasant they had far too many duties to carry out which resulted in poor service.also the mini bar was never restocked.the 2 golf courses were excellent, the north course was closed for maintenence.

A golfers paradise in a wonderful setting, and at a great hotel, rooms goodsize, service excellent, staff courteous and very helpful.
Pool and spa wonderful for both golfers and non golfers...a litle pampering always helps.
Just faraway from busy beach spots but all within distance.

My second visit to La Cala Resort hotel to attend a golf school both the hotel and the golf were most enjoyable.  The setting is fantastic.  The hotel, its amenities and the staff are all very good indeed and the facilities will shortly be even better with the opening of the new spa in December.

I ate dinner three nights and the food was truly of world class standard as was the service.

Thanks La Cala I will be back again.
