terrible food
21 April 2008
Hotel clean, conveniently sited but the food was the worst our party have ever had. No hot food at breakfast just the usual tasteless ham and cheese and chorizo. Dinner was a joke we along with a lot of guests simply went to the dining room to look to confirm how bad it was and then went to a local restaurant. This is the first time I have felt the need to complain about food at a hotel because you generally get what you pay for.

Great hotel for me, I was there on business and stayed 3 nights. the staff were lovely. Its in the centre so lots going on, but no noise in the room. Room was en-suite clean and very reasonable. One down side difficult for parking, I had hired a car and ended up parking it up and using the trains and taxis dead easy. Definately would use the Kristal again.

Basic but clean
22 July 2006
This was a very basic hotel but it had a price to match. it is very central in Torremolinos, close to the bus and train stations, so very easy to escape Torremolinos from. Theres quite a hike to the beach, so sun worshipers who love the beach but not the walk should stear clear. Not a lot good to say or bad about this hotel, its clean, maid service is a bit poor, they tended to sweep things under the beds! if you wanted to watch TV in our room you'd need to be a basketball player or had a pole to reach the switch as the tv was near the cealing and remotes needed to be hired! if you just want a base to explore from and don't want to spend too much money, then this is a pretty good place to choose.

Review of 'KRISTAL'

For: Cleanliness, Air Con, location, genrally friendly staff, cost Against: No balcony, no pool, food not so clever.
Good basic hotel and a good base. Not the best hotel ive stayed in but in terms of cost, £75.00 for 2 plp for 3 nights in June it was very good value for money and I would reccomend it for a short stay (7 days or less). TV and air con in room and decent beds too.

Review of 'KRISTAL'
16 October 2005
We stayed at Hotel Kristal in Torremolinos from 1/10/05 till 8/10/05. We paid £16 per night for the room (total).
When we arrived and had to walk through the alleyway to the hotel, my heart sunk - I wondered what on earth we had done. However, when we turned the corner at the bottom of the alley we were very pleasantly surprised!! The hotel entrance looked very smart indeed.
The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. There are 2 lifts.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, directly beneath the restaurant and lounge, so it was very noisy in the mornings and evenings because of people scraping their chairs. It didn't bother us too much though, as the noise quietened down by about 11.30 at night, so was not unreasonable.
The room itself, was quite large - there was definitely enough room for another bed in there. The furnishings were fairly basic, but perfectly adequate. There was a fair-sized bathroom with bath and shower. We used the bath as the shower proved to be nothing more than a dribble - in saying that, there was plenty of hot water. The room was kept very clean and the bathroom was cleaned each day. Clean towels were left daily. There is also a safe in the room which costs £2 per day.
As we were room only, I can't comment about the food served at the hotel, apart from saying that on the first morning we went up to the restaurant as we thought we would buy our breakfast there (4.50 EUR each). We had a look at what was on offer and can only say that it was not very inspiring. It just seemed to be cornflakes, cold meats and cheeses with bread rolls and coffee. We did not stay, We actually found a very nice cafe just round the corner from Calle San Miguel where we could get a full English breakfast, complete with toast, orange juice (fresh) and coffee for 4.75EUR.
The hotel is in Torremolinos centre - 2 minutes walk from the trains and about 10 mins walk downhill to the beach, so not ideal for people who find climbing uphill (steps) a problem. When you come out of the hotel, if you turn right, instead of left into the alleyway, you are immediately in the shopping centre of Torremolinos and a few steps away from the main square La Nogalera.
We used the train to go back to the airport, (1.30 EUR each) but would not personally do it again because of the amount of steps we had to negotiate to get down into the station.

Review of 'KRISTAL'

I found the hotel Kristal Torremolinos to be clean and comfortable, centraly located, staff were helpfull and pleasant. The service was good as the rooms were cleaned daily and the room had air conditioning. We found the food was very disapointing, there was little on the plate and what there was, was very thin slices of whatever, the cereals were uneatable, it seemed that they had plenty of bread rolls to help you to fill up, on occasion I have stayed at hotels with a cheaper price and found the food much better.

We stayed at the Kristal on a room only basis for 4 nights at the beginning of June. The cost was about £34.00 each, for the whole stay! The rooms are basic but clean, and the hotel does have two lifts and air con.in each room, which was unexpected at these prices.Location is great, plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants on the doorstep, and a couple of minutes walk to the train station, making transfers from Malaga cheap and easy.

Review of 'KRISTAL'
24 June 2005
We stayed here between 8th June and 15th June. On first impression, thought rooms were very large and clean, but had no balcony and looked straight onto other buildings. No privacy at all, other than when you closed the curtains. Air conditioning was suitable but hot water was luke warm at all times. Service was good as rooms were cleaned every day and towels were changed daily. No entertainment whatsoever, although there was a room with a bar on the fourth floor (opposite dining room). Food was very poor, especially breakfast. We ended up eating out quite a few times. Ideally located for shopping, in fact it was a shoppers paradise! Beach was lovely, but it was a good ten minute down hill walk. My daughter has asthma and found the walk back up very difficult, as would elderly people (although there is a lift in operation at certain times of the day). Overall, the hotel was OK, but I would not recommend it for people with children as there is only a very small sun terrace on the top of the building, with no pool!

Review of 'KRISTAL'

Looking at the other reviews they appear fair.
The only thing I would add is to say "GET REAL!!". You are paying a budget price so you are not likely to get a luxury penthouse. We paid £45 each for 3 nights halfboard.
We found the accommodation clean and the staff helpfull. Beds were made daily and towells changed.
Food. Well the cereal was a bit boring (cheap cornflakes) but there was a choice of meats and cheese for a continental breakfast. Wow, there's a surprise, a continental breakfast on the continent. Lets talk about how us brits like our full English. Then ask how many hotels in Brit. would put you up for these prices let alone do you a full English.
We paid £10 extra for 3 nights halfboard (over B&B). Food was better than I expected for that price. Meals are fine if you're not looking for Gordon Ramsey recipies. More edible than some high price stayovers I've had.
Don't get a taxi from the airport at 15E. The train drops you at the bottom of the alley, no more than a 5 minute stroll and a snip at 1.2E. All stations are announced on the train in English.
For a short budget holiday I would recommend this place. We use our room as somewhere to sleep and rest. I wouldn't like to stay here for 2 weeks but fine for less than a week.
Hope this is of help, have a good stay.

Food not too good, rooms for the price ok We had full board and the food was more to a spanish taste then English but we had no need to eat out We were only in for 3 nights but found the area very expensive and got a taxi every night to a nearby area where the prices were half to 1/3 rd cheaper You get what you pay for and the hotel is cheap but if you want a beach holiday this is not the place.

REVIEW OF KRISTAL HOTEL***
12 June 2005
We stayed at the hotel from 17.5.05 until 25.5.05. When we arrived and checked in and given our room, upon entering we were disappointed at the lack of a balcony and also privacy at the windows as we could see across to the other rooms. The room itself was adequate although a bit depressing in the decor, dark in fact. We were on a Bed and Breakfast stay, again found the food very disappointing, cereals were awful and it was the same every morning, very bland and no choice. It was very noisy at night, but we did expect that being in the centre of everything, which was ok for us as we found everything convenient. On the whole most of the staff were ok. There was no swimming pool, which is also a disappointment, but being in the centre it was'nt really expected. To make it a bit more pleasant, we would recommend they change the food and give more choices,we Brits do like cooked breakfasts, also lighten up the rooms and make the windows more private, and think about an indoor pool or jucuzzi, and more in the way of entertainment. We had no complaints about the cleaning and changing of towels. We hope you will pass these comments on, as I am sure it will help them in the long run and then encourage people to stay.

Booked this hotel through the net. The cost was about €30 per night per double room. Having stayed in other hotels in the area and payed up to €100 I considered this very very good value Pro Very clean,Large bathroon, sufficent room size, balcony Situated in the middle of the shopping district yet just 10 mins from the beach, Staff very pleasant Con No pool, noisy until 10 pm due to school children staying.
