Review of 'KENSINGTON ROOMS'

28 March 2007
Nice and clean, our bedroom was tiny with two single beds back to back, must have been the smallest room in the Hotel and considering we were staying for three nights we thought it a shame.  Our bathroom if you can call it that was a cupboard!! It was in a nice location with plenty of restaurants around about and Gloucester Tube Station very handy.   The receiption staff were completely useless could offer no local information whatsoever, didn't even know what literature they had on hand about London and what it had to offer.  Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay in London.

The hotel was clean and in a good central location, the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Check-in time was not until 14:00hrs and check out time was 10:00hrs very early. The room was average in size and it was more a shower room than a bathroom, it was tiny with very little room to move. Breakfast was cereal, fruit, toast and tea/coffee. Our room had a kettle but other rooms did not.

Just returned from Kensington Rooms.  It was lovely, rooms on the small side but exceptionally clean.  Bed linen was brilliant white cotton, very inviting.  Only down side was that our room was at the back of the hotel so we only had a wall for a view!  But I suppose someone has to sleep at the back of the hotel.  Continental breakfast was very adequate and had plenty of choice.  Overall very good, very handy for the tube and staff were pleasant.

Hotel was in a very good location and ideal for our stay here.  The rooms were very grand and we were not disappointed with our room. We stayed for a couple of nights and it was a great place to see this part of London.  Food was good and the hotel clean. We enjoyed our stay here and would return.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Urban Suite, which was just as good as it looks on the websites with huge fluffy pillows, a huge bed and funky modern decor. The bathroom was also nice and the towels were very soft, as would be expected from a luxury hotel!
However, the hotel could have benefited from more experienced staff, and attention to detail- such as more than two teabags in a room, biscuits, toothbrushes for forgetful guests and a plug for the bath (without having to ask!).
There was also a slug with the breakfast fruit (not nice!) and no bath robes as were promised, although the hotel itself is lovely (nice modern look with a beautiful aquarium in reception) and the mints in reception were a nice touch.
The hotel is in a good location with some nice, good value restaurants nearby.
On the whole a nice hotel, although would have expected more at £130 per night!

on arriving in kensington rooms on 28 december 2005 we had a 30 minute wait because they could not find our fax confirming the rooms from alpha even though we had our accommodation voucher. then we were told we paid for 3 persons but they only had a twin room. that evening the receptionist apologised for her receptionist on duty with her who was very rude to us. the next morning  we went to breakfast at 9.10am we were told  the breakfast room closed at 9.30am but were told it was too late for a cooked breakfast as it had to be ordered before 9am we were not the only guests told this on 29 december 2005. so all in all the hotel was o.k. but location was perfect for us.

Kensington Rooms is not anything like the write up on the website. The hotel may have had a 'facelift', but there is 'room for improvement'.
We had to ask to change our room as it was just slightly bigger than a broom cupboard, and the shower was leaking under the floor, soaking the bedroom carpet. We were given another room which was clean and adequate.
Advertised as bed and breakfast, they fail to tell you that cooked breakfast, including toast, is at an extra cost.
The staff were helpful and very pleasant.

The Kensington Rooms is a nice hotel. Good location and close to Glocester road tube station so the city centre / shops are only a short tube ride away. Staff are very pleasant and the rooms are clean.  Bathrooms are a little small but for a short break its ideal.

Read the reviews of this hotel and was susequently unsure of what to expect! On arrival we were pleasantly surprised. Good location for Gloucester Road tube station, our room was small but perfectly nice. Very comfy bed and decent shower. No bathrobes though which was a shame but as we were only there for one night we couldn't really find anything to complain about. However, the breakfast in the morning was pretty awful. We had asked the night before whether the bed & breakfast we had paid for included having breakfast in our room. We were told that that would be fine. So we ordered breakfast at 8.30a.m. By 10 o'clock it still had not arrived. We called reception, who were very apologetic, and then sent up 2 continental breakfasts (we ordered 2 full english) along with a bill for the breakfast! Very disappointing.  But apart from that it was a very pleasant hotel and I imagine we will probably stay there again as the price is pretty good for central london.
