Shame about the staff

30 July 2007
A centrally located luxurious hotel which in terms of housekeeping/ rooms /facilities etc. is outstanding. However the hotel is let down by a total lack of Irish staff in the public areas – the bar being a case in point. If and when you attract the staff’s attention it takes an eternity to be served. I had probably the worst Irish Coffee in my life and had to explain to the non Irish staff how it should be made. Similarly at breakfast which is a buffet affair the staff were very slow the buffet cold and I left disappointed. Why in heavens name in a flagship hotel don’t they employ a larger than life Irish Bar Manager who would make you welcome?

Excellent hotel & a great city. The hotel is very posh & the rooms are amazing (we were on the 5th floor which is the excecutive floor). Great views from the rooms (some building work next door but not intrusive at all). Food was very good & hotel bar was also good for a late drink. 5 min walk to city centre passing loads of bars along the way. The livelier bars are actually on Western Road about 2 mins from Jurys Cork so even better. Shopping is OK but for a weekend drinking Cork is top notch.

Jury's was everything you could expect from a 4 Star. Since it's a newly rebuilt hotel they have done a great job. Staff were efficient and friendly, rooms were of good size with 2 doubles. Although we would have preferred if one of the beds was a little larger. Separate shower from bath so that was handy for getting ready. Iron and hair dryer in cupboard. Nice view over the Lee pity about the construction work next store but that will be finished eventually. Topped off by a smashing freshly cooked breakfast with as much mushrooms, sausages, rashers, fried tomatoe and eggs whichever way you like them. Also a cold selection of cereals, fruits, yogurts and pasteries.
Everything was great and will definitely go back.

Classy looking hotel walking distance from city, great buzz in hotel bar at night (30yr olds). staff very polite and courteous. I was disappointed that even thouigh i booked online i was unable to gain reservations for dinner in the hotel i was staying in. i would recommend that residents should be allowed eat where they sleep. chef agrees!
I would return but only if i was not turfed out at dinnertime.
