Review of 'LOWNDES'
24 March 2005
This is a good quality, relatively quiet hotel situated close to the best Knightsbridge stores. Frequented by many people from the Middle East, smoking occurs almost everywhere, even on the non-smoking floors. The rooms are of a good size and comfortable. There are no in-room tea/coffee making facilities. Leisure facilities are available through the Carlton Tower, about 400m away. However, do not park your car there, it is very expensive. Parking is a problem in this area. Some on road parking is available, but you need to be careful because the parking authority changes near the hotel and different rules apply in almost adjacent bays. Local NCP parks are available. Breakfast service in the restaurant was appalling; in the end, after over 30 minutes of waiting, we left without being served with our order. The order that did appear was incorrect. At check-out they had added an automatic 15% service charge for the breakfast; after some discussion, it was removed. Overall, good but could do better.
