GREAT HOTEL

Great hotel, spacious rooms and clean and tidy. The bar was a bit small and lacked atmosphere but not a big problem. Central location to Las Ramblas. Highly recommended.

Excellent hotel

18 May 2008
Just returned from a 40th birthday break with friends. Excellent hotel, superb location, modern hotel with excellent facilities such as roof top pool which we used every day. Great choice of hot and cold buffet at breakfast. Located 5 min walk to top of la ramblas. Had two great meal in Hard Rock Cafe closeby. Recommend the open top bus which you can catch just outside hotel. A very enjoyable break. Barcelona a big thumbs up as well as the hotel.

Superb location

25 April 2008
This hotel is situated within two blocks of Placa de Catalunya and Las Ramblas so is ideal for public transport, the tourist buses and the main shopping area. The room itself was very nice with excellent sound proofing. The staff were very helpful, even cleaning the rooms while you eat your breakfast. The only points I could fault are just "nit picking" - not much soap and not much variety with breakfast, but all in all definitely a hotel I would fully recommend

Great location, but why be mean!

20 December 2007
Just back from 4 nights at The Jazz, Barcelona. Really good location, ideal for everything you want to do day or night. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful although a better lounge area would be nice as not everyone wants to be out all night. The rooms are slightly small yet nicely furnished with everything one needs, all except tea and coffee making facilities, which I find a bit mean, as this is not a cheap hotel. The other and most important thing that the hotel should take on board is why do they provide such awful cheap toilet paper. This may sound funny but it reallys pulls the place down, the last time I saw toilet paper like that was forty years ago at school!!! These things do leave a lasting impression!!! otherwise well worth the stay.

Review of Hotel Jazz

30 August 2007
We went to Hotel Jazz for our honeymoon and it was perfect. It's great value and is in a fantastic location near Placa de Catalunya but the excellent sound prooofing in the rooms meant that we felt like we were in a remote coutry location. The air conditioning was also first class. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the hotel was clean, modern and comfortable. Een the mini-bar was reasonable priced! We'd definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and hope to return some day.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Jazz in Barcelona and had a very enjoyable stay. The location is perfect for Las Ramblas (less than 5 minute walk) and is also surrounded by many High Street shops, bars and restaurants. The room was extremely comfortable and well decorated. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The reception staff were very friendly with excellent English and were willing to accomodate us very well. Will definitely make this my first choice hotel again if i return to Barcelona.

Review of 'JAZZ'

31 January 2007
Have just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Jazz and I would thoroughly recommend it.

The hotel is contemprary, clean and quiet. The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the bathroom was fabulous too with a large separate shower cubicle. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but with everything on your doorstep this wasn't a problem. There was an occassional quiet rumble from the subway (we had a room on the 2nd floor) but this was so quiet that it didn't disturb us at all.

There was a great choice for breakfast which is served until 11am for those who wanted a little longer in bed! The bar opens from 7pm and the spirits are quite pricey but beer and wine were standard prices.

The reception staff speak English and they were very friendly and helpful. They advised us on public transport and tourist attraction opening times, and they also booked a couple of restaurants for us.

The location of Hotel Jazz is perfect. It takes just a couple of minutes to walk to Pl. Catalunya where you can catch the tourist buses and the metro. The hotel is also very close to Las Ramblas and is within walking distance of practically everything (if you don't mind a 20 minute walk).

Overall, we were very impressed with Hotel Jazz and thought it was great value for money. We would definitely stay there if we visit Barcelona again!

Brill location and rooms excellent they were clean and the showers were great. Loved the wooden floors. The staff were very helpful and could not have done enough for us. Will definetly return to this hotel as it was so easy to find and central to all the areas we wanted to visit. Highly recommend a stay here. Previous reviews on tripadvisor people moaned about the metro but the noise was minimal and after a few sangrias we heard nothing.

Hotel Jazz, Barcelona

We recently returned from a 4 night stay in the Hotel Jazz and would definately recommend it to anyone. It's a very contemporary hotel, very clean and very friendly. We overlooked quite a busy road but didn't hear much noise. The location is perfect, only 5 minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla and the area was well lit. The bus stop to / from the airport was less than 10 mins walk. One other plus point, they served breakfast until 11am so no need to get up early!

This was a recommended hotel which lived up to its reputation, stylish, clean, accessible, friendly.  The rooms were perfectly designed and very quiet given its location.  You can however hear the subway trains or rather the tremors they leave but not that much.  I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly be going back to it.

Hotel Jazz is ideally situated very near to Las Ramblas, the Placa Catalunya and public transport links. The hotel is in a well-lit area with good taxi access and it felt safe approaching the hotel at night on foot.
The hotel is very artistically designed and superbly presented with a common black and white theme running throughout. The bathroom was beautifully presented and stylish.
The individually air-conditioned rooms are soundproofed, making for a very peaceful stay away from traffic noise. The Metro runs underneath the hotel and although faint rumbles could occasionally be heard from our room on the seventh floor this was not intrusive.
The staff of the hotel are friendly, helpful and efficient, and the servicing of the rooms is an object lesson of how it should be done. Other hotels could learn much from Jazz.
The buffet breakfast was excellent [it was included in the deal we had] and consisted of a wide range of high-quality cooked and fresh items, and excellent coffee.
There is a splendid roof terrace with good views, abundant sun loungers and a small but very clean swimming pool.
I am very happy to recommend this hotel and it will certainly be my number one choice next time I visit Barcelona.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for 5 nights and loved every minute. The hotel was very modern and clean. The rooms were spacious, the bed was extremely comfy and the bathroom was very 'jazzy'!  The bar was nice and staff spoke fluent english and were very helpful. The roof-top pool was an extra luxury. Great location for Las Ramblas and metro. The only way our stay could have been improved would have been to have more leaflets and maps on the area, either at the hotel entrance or in our room. This criticism is only minor as this hotel definitely deserves 5 out of 5!

Contemporary designed room/bathroom, clean, great staff, plentiful complimentary toiletries etc.  No problems with noise (go for a higher up room) and it's 5 mins from the top of Las Ramblas and the big square where all the tourist buses go from.

What a fab place!

Fantastic stay at the Jazz

09 July 2006
Great boutique hotel in a central location. Easy walk to Las Ramblas, Placa Catalunya. The roomw are large and modern and the staff friendly. Did not use the rooftop pool but it did look enticing and there are 2 computer terminals on level 1 next to the bar to catch up on emails with family and friends. Highly recommended.

Review of the Jazz

17 June 2006
Excellant hotel, spotlessly clean,, room was very modern with everything you needed provided with the largest free selection of bathroom freebies I have come across. The mini bar was well stocked and the prices seemed very reasonable. Although our room was on a busy street we did not hear any traffic noise, The staff were friendly and helpful. The Hotel is about 5 mins walk to Las Ramblas, and there is a nice tapas bar across the road if you want a quiet drink in the evening.  The roof terrace is a great place to relax in the sunshine after a day walking round the shops and they are happy for you to take your drinks from the bar up round the pool. The buffet breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold option with a choice of omelette, poached or scrambled eggs cooked to order. There is also a left luggage facility which if like us you had a late flight out was very useful. Can't fault the hotel and would certainly return there if travelling to Barcelona. The metro does run under the hotel but certainly did not bother us and I am a very light sleeper and I had no trouble with this at all infact this was also one of the quiestest rooms I have stayed in for noise from surrounding rooms etc.

Going to Barcelona? Stay at the Jazz

20 May 2006
Stayed at the Jazz in May.

Great hotel & great location.  Friendly and efficient staff that were unobtrusive but there to help if needed.

The room was ready on early arrival, breakfast was good if predictable and check out was simple.  The beds were comfortable and the room was immaculate.

Couldn't ask for any more.

Barcelona is a lovely city to visit and I will certainly go back, when I do if the Jazz keeps up this standard I'll be staying there again when I do.

Spot on

08 January 2006
Great location, 5 mins walk from Placa Catalunya.  Hotel very stylish and comfortable.  Reception very helpful and offered to swap our room from the 6th to the 2nd floor when they saw my wife heading for the stairs!  Maid's managed to pinch 2 towels we brought with us (thought it was supposed to be the other way round :o))But they looked similar to the hotels towels so we let them off.  Went room only, but restaurant food looked great, very large breakfast choice, will consider going b&b next time.  Very quiet at night, only the odd rumble frm the metro.
Free internet access in bar area as well.
Negative points
Non smoking hotel (as most are now)
No tea/coffee facilities in room
Tip: Need bottled water/drinks? Turn left as you walk out hotel, straight across main road and down Small street called Granvia.  Supermarket located 30 metres down there. Saves paying the minibar.
Enjoy!

Review of Hotel Jazz

18 October 2005
I went to Barcelona with a group of 7 girls. Stayed at Hotel Jazz for 3 nights in total. The rooms were excellent, especially the triple room which was more like a suite. Bathrooms were really funky but would recommend taking some hand mirrors as they're all in one corner which posses a problem when 3 girls are trying to get ready! We noticed the slight rumble of the metro underneath but it really wasn't a problem. The staff were efficient and friendly, speaking fluent english. One night our wardrobe door got jammed so we buzzed reception and within 2 mins someone had come up and fixed it. The roof-top pool was fun, especially having a dip as the sun set! We stayed 'room only' but one morning paid the extra for the breakfast. It was OK but nothing special - my advice is to walk down the road to Starbucks and get a croissant and coffee - saves a few euros for more shopping! I would definately recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon!

We stayed here for one night as a holiday within a holiday from our base on the Costa Brava.

The rooms are nice and modern and the comfy beds a plus! Other than the slight rumble of the trains it was completely peaceful and I didn't wake up until 9am.

The main reason we booked this hotel though didn't let us down - the rooftop pool. Having been to Barcelona before and seen most of the sites, we weren't in a great rush to get out and about so went straight up to do a spot of sunbathing. Having only one other couple around rather than the groups of teenagers and British all-day-drinkers that surrounded our pool in the Costa Brava was fantastic!

It got busier later on, but there are only 10 beds so it'll never get overly busy. Comfy sunbeds and free towels great too.

Fab location - 5 mins to Placa Catalunya metro, or just use the University stop right next door and change lines. We also found it great at night as the (once seedy, still a little interesting) Raval district is right across the road, and we found some lovely restaurants just round the corner from the Museum of Modern Art, and some good local bars.

Review of 'JAZZ'

10 September 2005
Modern, stylish and friendly. Had read a review complaining of noise or rumble from the metro' underground. We were on the 7th floor so may have been protected from this. I listened out for it in the early hours and could make something out...but certainly not intrusive in any way. I hadn't told my girlfriend about this before-hand and when I later asked her if she had heard anything she had no idea of it.

Room was large, immaculate and had small balcony overlooking the noisy busy road below (more of a Juliet balcony so no sitting out on it). Noise was never a problem from the road because of the excellent double glazing. Some noise in the morning from the maids (although this was later than 9am).

Free internet (proper internet connection not the snail stuff) on two units near bar area. Didn't have to wait.

Bar very smart and modern, in keeping with the rest of the hotel, although drinks were very expensive.

Generally friendly staff (including discussion with guys on the desk about Barca' and Real Madrid on arrival). We had just come from Paris where the staff were formal and a little stuffy so the staff here made the difference.

Rooftop pool small but didn't suffer because of it. Seperate pool towels provided and plenty of (comfortable) sun loungers.

Location right in the centre with Universitat and Placa Cataluna metro stations very close.

We stayed first week september for two nights. Paid approx £100(sterling)per night.(girlfriend loved the plentiful freebies!)

I couldn't really afford this for a longer stay, nor can I compare with other hotels in the area. However, compared with other european hotels this was refreshingly worth the money.

This hotel was very clean and nice.  The style was very contemporary and the rooms were a decent size.  The only thing I didn't like about the room was the shower in the bathroom.  All the water splashed outside the tub because there was no shower glass on the latter half! The location of the hotel was great.  We were able to take the train easily and the cabs knew where the Jazz hotel is located.  The front desk was very helpful.  They called a cab at midnight for us and the cab driver referred a great restaurant to eat.  He was right!  The whole experience that evening was wonderful.  I strongly recommend the Jazz hotel.

P.S. You do have to pay extra to park the car underground...it is not included in the room rate!!

Visited Jazz, Barcelona late July with my thirteen year old son. A five minute walk from Placa Catalunya the Jazz is a stylish, modern hotel. The all glass front with automatic doors sets the tone for the whole hotel which is cool, due to the airconditioning throughout and the contemporary styling. Staff are unintrusively helpful and check in was swift, we arrived a 12.30pm, had immediate access to our room. Rooms are was immaculately clean and continue the slick decor and quality products. The roof has a small pool which although small is more than adequate for a cooling dip. The area is substantial containing sunbeds, chairs, tables and parasols. There are also two toilet/shower rooms. Towels are provided at the side of the pool and replenished regularly. The hotel has no restaurant but with the Ramblas five minutes away and its myriad of restaurants this is not a problem. Buffet breakfast is varied and substantial, the breakfast room is light and airy situated on the same floor as the bar. If you want a contemporary oasis in the heart of busy Bracelona, head for the Jazz.

I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel and reccomending it to anyone
