3rd time staying at the Janelas Do Mar

This was mine and my partners 3rd time staying at the Janelas Do Mar. we had a really good holiday staying there from the 4th to the 11th of june 08. The staff could'nt do enough for you very plesant and friendly, and the food in the pool side bar was really nice. The pool's where well looked after and very clean the only thing the water was very cold, but the weather was so good you diffently needed it to cool ya down. The room we had was a really good size, we also had a lovely view of the pool. Its only a 10 min walk to the main strip or they have a bus service which is really handy if ya did'nt fancy the walk. The strip had plenty of lovely restaurants and bars. I dont have a bad word to say about the Janelas Do Mar i would diffently recommend.

I stayed at these apartments with my boyfriend for a week in June 2008. Our apartment was basic but nice and was kept clean as the maids came every day.
The apartments are a 10-15 minute walk away from The Strip. There are buses/taxis available to take you there but we walked as it wasn't too far. There is a shop, cafe and a bar if you just want to stay close to the apartments for the day.
The staff at the reception and in the cafe were very nice and helpful. The reception is 24 hours so there is always someone there if you need help.
The pool at our block was very cold but was still well used. There was another pool at one of the other blocks and an indoor pool as well which can all be used no matter what block you’re in. There are also ping pong tables, pool tables, mini golf and an area for playing tennis/football/basketball.
I would say the one down point about the apartments is that they were quite noisy. There seemed to be some maintenance work taking place either in the apartments themselves or close by. The work was sometimes going on during the night which woke us up a few times. The cats and dogs also came out at night and were quite noisy but there’s not a lot the apartments can do about that!
There is a school behind the apartments but that didn't disturb us at all.
Overall I would say the apartments are good and were very well priced so you can’t go wrong!

second time at janelas

This is our second stay at Janelas Do Mar (Windows on the Sea). It is clean, spacious, good maid service. We have only stayed in early March and the room rates have been very good. Quality of fixtures and fittings are getting a bit tired but this does not bother us. Staff were very accomodating and the indoor pool is great in early season. No bar or restaurant available this stay but that does not bother us as we go native when in the Algarve.

Myself and my 2 friends stayed at this hotel for 1 week and I can't complain about anything. The rooms were clean and big enough for the 3 of us. The reception staff were very friendly and so were the other staff in the apartments. There was plenty to do if lying by the pool is not your cup of tea. Lots of things for kids to do and the apartments are ideal for families. And yes the pool is very cold but excellent for cooling you down! It's close to the strip either walking or taxi ride. I would return to these and recommend them to anyone.

Great hotel with good facilities and close to the strip and a very short taxi ride from the old town. The room was nice and very large, however the boiler could only hold 50 litres of water and as there were four of us sharing the room by the time it came to the third/fourth shower the water was cold. Swimming pools were large and clean but the water was very cold, this was the case with the sea as well. I would recommend the hotel to anyone, we had a great holiday.

I and My husband stayed at Janelas Do Mar in June 2006 for our honeymoon. The Hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly. The grounds are lovely and they have a poolside BARBQ which is fab. There is a 10 minute walk to the strip but again the walk is very pleasant and the strip has many bars and restaurants the food is good and reasonable priced and so are the drinks. The old town is a must see with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The beaches are amazing and very clean. The rooms in the hotel are very large with a good sized kitchen and bathroom. The balcony has a table and chairs and you can see the entire town and it looks beautiful at night when it its al lit up. You can also see the sea and the fishing boats. A very good holiday all in all.

We stayed at janelas end of September 06 foe 1 week. On arrival in the morning we were unable to book in untill 2pm. Apartment very clean and well equipped for what we required. Swimming pools unfortunately were Ice cold, far too cold for us to go swimming!! Cafe on site very good, service with a smile always. Shop on site has all basic requirements. Mini bus very handy and we used this every night to go into Old Town. We stayed away from the strip due to the muggings which had occured while we were there. I would strongly recommend to always stay in your group and to take a taxi back to apartments. Taxis were very cheap. We found eating out very reasonable, however, alcoholic drinks to seem to be very exspensive we were paying 15 euros for two alcoholic drinks and 1 soft drink. We had a very good holiday and are returning next year but for two weeks this time, 1 week was just not enough. We went to zoo marine, and swam with the dolphins, and would recommend this to everybody. Reasonably priced, at £105.00 per person which included transport, entrance fee, and fee to swim with dolphins. We wbooked this in advance over the internet. Happy Holidays!

Enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious and clean. Good maid service and friendly staff.
Was about 10 mins walk from the nightlife, but a pleasant one.

I have just got back from these apartments, they were very clean but basic, the pools are very cold just be careful when you first get because I ended up getting cramp alot of the times.
I found the strip alot like blackpool, don't think I would return to Albufeira. We did go to to the old town a few times which was lovely.
The staff were lovely, especially the coffee shop staff.

The location of the Janelas do Mar was indeed 10 minutes uphill from 'the strip'. It was basic but fine - especially for a short break, and although cold when we arrived (early December) the reception (who were very helpful) organised a couple of heaters one in the living area and another in one of the bedrooms. However, because the apartment hadn't been occupied for a while we requested a third heater which duly arrived shortly afterwards.
I also must mentioned that my friend got stuck in the lift but was rescued within a few seconds of pressing the alarm.
Overall opinion - OK for a short break, not suitable for a long stay - very friendly staff - cheap (in Winter anyway) and cheerful!

The hotel is situated at the top of a hill.It is not far walking to the strip but there is a regular bus from out-side the hotel to the town and the old town and the sea.
the hotel staff are very helpful and make you feel welcome , the hotel has good facilities and the rooms are clean and comfortable.And a bonus is because it is away from the town and other hotels it is quiet and relaxing.
I have stayed her 3 times before and i am returning in may , my brother has been there now 9 times.
It is well worth a visit to the janellas *****
