Mixed experience

25 May 2008
We've just spent 10 days here with our young son (just under 2). We would certainly echo all the comments about the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, and the fact that it's a relaxing place to stay. We had problems with two aspects. 1) All-inclusive was considerably more expensive than half-board booking from Ireland, but lunch options within the hotel when staying half-board are VERY limited. Upgrading to all-inclusive on arrival would have cost EUR 23 per adult per day. 2) Food selection overall was very good, but dessert selection and quality at dinner was poor. We also found the table clearing service slow. Overall, excellent quality facilities and good staff, but they seem to be very much targeted at all-inclusive.

Excellent for a relaxing break

18 March 2008
Great Hotel, staff are really friendly.Rooms are very clean, selection of food is superb and you can eat all day if you want too. I would recommend going all inclusive as the cost is only slightly more than half board. The grounds were expansive and extremely well kept. The entertainment at night was not the greatest but the piano bar was another option. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing break.

Disappointed

02 June 2007
This is a huge hotel covering possible 20 acres. Very clean, well appointed, well designed, excellent gardens and swimming pools. Friendly staff and good welcome. Buffet dinner excellent with varied menu but slow service clearing tables. Breakfast has varied menu but items not cooked on the spot were found to be cold. Again staff were slow clearing tables.

we have just come back from this hotel and we were very impressed with the hotel, the staff and the spotlessly clean rooms and facilities. The staff were very friendly especially the entertainment gang who were extremely professional and friendly. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to any one, especially those with young children. The food was very good and the selection for each meal was varied and always well presented. well done to you all we will be back.

Review of 'IBEROSTAR COSTA CALERO'

07 February 2007
We had a bad start to our holiday as when we arrived at the voucher we produced did not state that we had paid in full and  the hotel they had no record of our booking but after 45 mins and some head scrathing by the receptionist she booked us in, she wanted to take a copy of our visa card which I would not do and eventually I got access to a computer and showed her confirmation of our payment. Once this was cleared up we had a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break. The food was excellent and the place was immaculately maintained. We will be back!

Review of 'IBEROSTAR COSTA CALERO'

31 January 2007
I read with great interest, a few reviews before we left for the Iberostar Costa Colera Hotel in Lanzarote. This was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we've been on in a very long time. I agree that the food was repetative, but, there was a large selection to choose from. You did not have to eat the same meal every day. There was even pizza and french fries. The only problem we had was that the fried eggs were a little on the overdone side and the yolk wasn't very runny. Not to worry though, you could have an omelet if you chose.
The entertainment staff was the greatest. All of them were ready to get you involved in every kind of game etc. The shows that they were involved in were wonderful as well. Good going Josepha, Soenita, Ingo and Anibal. We had a lot of fun with all of you. My friend and I (both female) (by ourselves) took the bus to Puerto Del Karmen one day to do some shopping. We were relaxed the whole time and not worried about being bothered by unwelcome persons. We wouldn't even think of doing such a thing in some places in the Caribbean. No one bothered us and we felt safe. It was great. I would continue to go there for every holiday if it weren't so far. It took us 6 1/2 hours to get there and 8 hours to fly back home. We all promised each other that we would go there again. This hotel and it's staff deserve a 10 star rating if there is such a thing. It was great. Didn't want to come home.

The Iberostar Hotel at Costa Calera, Lanzarote

18 January 2007
We stayed at this hotel from 10th to 17th January 2007 on an all inclusive basis. We found this very good value for money. On the day of departure guests have to vacate their room at 12noon but if you were on an all inclusive basis you may have lunch, snacks and drinks up until 6pm without an additional charge.
The hotel itself is quite impressive, and kept immaculately clean at all times. The food was good (possibly too good since I managed to put on 3lbs in 7days)
This is a hotel for people who want some peace and quiet and although you could walk down to the marina and along a coastal promenade to La Caleta Restaurant there is not a beach to walk along. For that you have to go into Puerto del Carmen on the courtesy bus. Beware though, if the demand for the bus is too great, you might be left having to pay for a taxi to get you back.(We were lucky to have been able to get the 1.30pm bus back, but did see people not able to get on it.)
The hotel does have a Spa Centre too, for which you have to pay extra.
There is a gym for general use which has the usual hotel gym facilities and for which there is no charge, but, in addition the Spa Centre also has a gym which has different machines. They do request that you wear appropriate gym wear there.

We enjoyed our week at the Iberostar but did miss not having a beach near.

Review of 'IBEROSTAR COSTA CALERO'

17 August 2006
We live in Lanzarote and our 10 year old grandson was staying with us and he wanted to spend a night at a good hotel.
We paid for the all inclusive option which we had never done before and which was very successful.   Each drink or meal was served as if we had paid normal prices and not in "paper cups" .
The food was very good and also entertainment.  The pool areas were very spacious and even in August we found sunbeds.  Our grandson loved the hotel and did not want to leave and we promised we would return next year.  We had a lovely sea view room and complimentary soft drinks, sweets etc., in the room which was a bonus. It was good to have a fridge in the room to keep all our drinks cool.   Overall good value and very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I have three or four holidays a year and travel to some great locations and have stayed in some wonderful hotels. The Costa Calero is one of the most relaxing comfortable hotel yet. Food is first class, rooms were spacious and spotless, the staff very helpful and friedly. We will definatley return in the near future.
The location of the hotel could be a problem for the elderly or disabled as it is on a steep hill.

Review of 'HOTEL IBEROSTAR COSTA CALERO'

16 January 2006
5th to 12th December 2005 - I travelled with my 4 year old daughter (which I have done plenty of times). Arrived at Arricife airport jumped in a taxi and 15 Euros and 15 minutes later arrived at the hotel. I read reviews before I went and decided to opt for the all inclusive option. A wise choice. The food was excellent at all meals with lots of fresh fruit and veg's. Kids club was a winner with my daughter the entertainers made us very welcome and even got the kids to take part in a couple of the evening shows! There were daytime adult activities too including rifle and pistol shooting and volleyball. The staff were all great, the rooms cleaned every day. There are plenty of sunbeds - definately no towels at dawn! The accomodation is of a very good standard. The Christmas decorations were up when we went, very impressive. There was even a visit from Santa who gave the children a gift sack containing sweets and fruit. Met some lovely people there too.. (Hi to Lyn and Paul). No wristbands either.. a credit card sized swipe card was provided. This was valid up to 6pm on departure day too. Puerto del Carmen was 3km away - a 6 Euro taxi fare. The marina was a 5 minute walk away with some lovely shops and bars. Excellent hotel which makes for a relaxing holiday. Will be going again soon. Lots of people we met there were on their 2nd and 3rd visit which speaks volumes.
