Just got back from a 2 night stayover, The hotel is very good with a drinks fridge in the room that was cheep so we had a good drink before going out into the city, I like Girona city, Just walking around the old streets gives you a feeling of timelessness! if eating out I would recommend the old side of the city.

My mother-in-law and I stayed at the Hulsa Ultonia for 2 nights. It is a very basic hotel, with no balcony :(. Very central though and very clean. The staff are friendly and obliging however they do not speak very good English. In fact this is the case throughout the whole of Girona. We were the only English people in the city at the time and none of the bar staff or waiters could understand us... our lancashire accents are not that strong! lol! Saying that, my Spanish is not that good either but I am glad that I know a few basic words as this sort of got us by. However they speak Catalan and it is slightly different, ordering chicken and chips was a scream! A couple of bar staff even tried to short change us on a couple of occasions! Luckily I am used to the Euro as I go abroad every 6-8 weeks. It was truelly a relaxing break, no-one attempted to talk to us due to the language barrier and we didnt speak to them, but after two days it was a treat to speak to a group of guys from Durham at the airport. I wouldn't stay in this resort again but I certainly recommend the hotel to anyone who does go there. It is cheap, clean and central.

perfect location. Freindly staff(even let me use the hotel safe free of charge) clean room and bathroom, just a bit small so would be ok for 3/4 days but not long stay

This is the first time at this hotel, and like the last review It is near the shops and restuarants and only 10 minutes walk from the bus station. The room was very clean not at all small, staff very friendly, very good hotel to stay in.

Just returned from Hotel Ultonia having had agreat time. The Hotel is so central, great location with all amenities around in walking distance. Old Town just over bridge walking distance again. Hotel staff helpful and friendly with someone always on Reception. Our room was spotless and a good size. Only down side are the thin walls. It can be noisey early mornings with people leaving. We unfortuately had building works on the last morning but when complained we were moved straight away to a quieter room. We would recommend this Hotel to everyone who wants a centrally located place to stay that doesn't cost the earth.

hotel´s central location was perfect. everything was close-old town, bus station, train station, shops, bars, restaurants....hotel staff was friendly and helpful. hotel was small and nice.
My single room was suitable for one night stay,not longer. It was small, hardly room to move around. And the view from the room´s window was just looking at other hotel rooms´ windows.

great place, perfect location (esp if you visit the nightclub monaparts just around the corner!), helpful staff, clean and oh so comfy beds and lovely toiletries in the very fine bathroom. I don't 'do' the 5* and why would you....this place is great!

Review of 'ULTONIA'

First of all the hotel is relatively cheap in a central location, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Within 5 mins walk you are right in the heart of Girona old town, or 10 mins walk in the other direction gets you to the main train and bus depot.
However, although very clean, the hotel is looking a bit jaded, and the bathroom was cramped and a bit "tatty".
If you are looking for a place to crash out, and to use as a base for travel for a night or so then the place is fine. If you are looking at a place to spend time in, or something romantic, then this is not the place for you.
