We have recently returned from Egypt and stayed at the Le Meridient for two nights. What a fantastic Hotel, so near to the Pyramids with fabulous views from the poolside. It was surreal swimming in the pool and seeing the Pyramids at the same time! The hotel room was very spacious and clean, although our room did not have a pyramid view it did not matter. The staff were superb, nothing is too much trouble (we forgot a few toiletries, and within minutes of mentioning this to the concierge, someone was knocking on our door to deliver the items we requested). There are three restaurants to choose from, all reasonably priced. Security is excellent, we felt very safe. The only disappointment is that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and like most people, we like to have a drink as soon as we wake. However, this is a minor point, and I would recommend this hotel as a base for sightseeing, and would definitely return there if ever we are in Cairo again.
