Firstly, not to be confused with the Iris Hotel in Kardamena!
We stayed self catering in the appartments, which are the newer part of the hotel for 7 nights last week. Upon arrival in the early hours of the morning we were greeted by reception, which is open 24hrs a day.It is a very warm and friendly family run hotel. They all speak very good English, and two of the sons- Savas and Minas run the snack bar/pool bar,and are very accomodating-(great food and company) The appartments part of the hotel are about 4 yrs old, spacious and modern, all with air con, and among the cleanest I have seen, with maid service, clean towels every day,and the room always smelt very clean as you came in afterwords. The older part of the Hotel is a little dated, the rooms smaller without air con,but nontheless as clean as the appartments. There is also a large area where you can shower etc if you have had to vacate your room early on your last day. This hotel is rated on a lot of websites as only a 2 star, but I would certainly say that we have stayed in worse 3 star accomodation. The poolside area is very clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds available, there is also a little pool for small children in a grassy area with a slide and roundabout for them too.  There is a restaurant across the road from the hotel, and a very good supermarket a couple of minutes away, which also has payphones outside. This hotel is in a fairly quiet road a good 20 minute walk from Kos Town itself,so not reccomended for people with walking difficulties, although you can always rent a bicycle, as the island is very flat, but it is a great sea view walk into town. If you dont want to be in the hustle and bustle of the main town, and want somewhere to relax and do nothing at all then it is very easy to do it at the Iris!!
