Superb Small Hotel
11 May 2008
This hotel was perfect for us, we stayed 5 nights from 6 May 2008. The hotel is 2 mins from plenty of bars/restaurants in the Kazimierz Old Jewish district or a 10/15 mins walk to the centre of town. the trams stop very near, 2.5zl fare gets you anywhere in the city. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, spotlessly clean modern room, and so quiet as well. Plenty of choice for breakfast served 7.30 to 10.30 each morning. Krakow is a beautiful friendly city , so much to see, we didnt have long enough there, will go again and stay at the Columbus Hotel, we simply loved it.

excellent hotel
28 April 2008
stopped at this hotel for five days. The hotel was excellent, spotlessly clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. It was our wedding anniversary and on arrival the hotel had placed a heart shaped box of chocolates on the bed, a lovely gesture. They provided us with street maps and even telephoned a taxi of our own choice for us. Breakfast was also lovely both hot and cold variety, always well stocked as soon as things ran out and right up until breakfast was over. In the room there was always complimentary bottles of water and a free safe!! This hotel is in a area which was close to the old Jewish quarter steeped in history. You must visit Auschwitz a fantastic insight to what happened in the holocaust, entry is free and there are superb English speaking guides. I would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends who want to visit Krakow.

SMART HOTEL
27 March 2008
This hotel is just great , its very smart and really is not far from the centre the trams stop outside allday and night , the breakfast is fine with a nice choice. the reataurant is also very nice with all very friendly staff . if you are looking for a good quality hotel not in the centre but on a good route for all sightseeing reasonably priced this is it . Krakow is just up the road and caters for all tastes and all round is steeped in history - try it you will not be dissapointed . i want to return !!

Great Hotel
05 March 2008
Agree with almost all previous reviewers have said. Hotel is modern, very clean and prices for drinks/meals etc are the same as outside. A little bit far from the market square for me - about 15 minutes walk and not too many other bars around the immediate area but it wasn't much of a hardship to walk. The walk would be preferable to other 3 stars nearer the square. I looked at some of them I had considered and definately made the right choice. I didn't really think breakfast was up to much but I'm quite a picky eater. Toast and jam did the trick. Wasn't all that impressed with Krakow itself - not much going on - Prague is better. Auschwitz was a once in a lifetime experience though - a superb insight into the holocaust and what really happened. Thoroughly recommend it.

excellent hotel
17 February 2008
This hotel, in my opinion, is absolutely underrated. It was a beautiful property. The room was spacious, warm and the furnishings were lovely. There was very friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent and fruit and bottles of water were available to take along for the day. It is a short walk from the main square and is only steps away from the culture and history found in the Jewish quarter and the Wawel Castle. By far the nicest ’three star’ hotel I have ever stayed in. I appreciated the hotel's dedication to being environmentally friendly.

great stay
04 February 2008
The room was clean. The staff very good. The room temperature was cold at night and no way of turning it up.The duvets were very thin and there were no blankets. The showere leaked all over the bathroom floor. The room was not cleaned dispite hanging out the please clean sign. The staff were very good and the taxi for the airport arrived on time. I would recommend this hotel if you dont feel the cold, the food was good, however having stayed in other hotels in Krakow ata similar price food elsewhere was more plentifull. Cant fault the cleanliness or friendliness but would not stay there again in thewinter. It was also too far from the square for us as we only had limited time.

top class hotel
12 November 2007
i was amazed by the cleanliness of the hotel. it was top class all around. our room was amazing and very cheap. there was everything you might require in a hotel room. the staff were amazing too, bending over backwards to please us but not in an intrusive way. they were very helpful too, booking cheap transport for our visits to the salt mine or auschwitz. the night porter, a retired english teacher, had a role in Schindler's list (he played a German officer) so was very knowledgeable about the history of Krakow. the breakfast food is amazing too and plentiful. i will go back.

columbus - A Good Find!
28 October 2007
Opened in September 2007 the Columbus Hotel was chosen for a 3 night stay in October 07. The boutique style of hotel was very good, clean and lived up to our high expectations. The room was of of a very good standard, incoprporating a plasma tv (only one english channel nbc news) and a digital safe (no extra charge) the en-suite shower/wc room was modern even had a telephone and tv/audio speakers.
The breakfast rooms served continental and a limited range of hot food, buffet style which were continually replenished . The staff were very helpful and english speaking and arranged taxis as required. Security at the hotel was cctv monitored with electronic door keys for rooms. The hotel was positioned about 20 minute walk to the centre of krakow and a few minutes to the Jewish area and near a new shopping centre. I would return to this hotel if visiting the area and would also use Alpharooms again as there were no problems with the reservation.

would go back !
19 September 2007
We stayed 9 nights at the Hotel Columbus and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel rooms were spotlessly clean, it is situated near to Kazimierz the Jewish district, the market square is just a tram ride away, so we found it very convenient for sight seeing.
The breakfasts were very good, there was a wide selection available and the breakfast waitress was replenishing supplies all the time, we found the doormen very helpful one even offered to show us the pick up point for a nearby hotel when we booked a tour trip.
The Manager was very approachable,we would definitely stay there again ( if they will have us lol ! )
