Hotel Andalous

26 October 2007
This hotel had really mixed reviews and we were all rather apprehensive. We need not have worried. Considering what we paid it was very good value for money. The rooms are clean ,spacious(two double beds in our room) and have the Moroccan decor. The dining room ,reception area is very authentic. Pool is superb. Staff are friendly, very keen to help!! Very expensive non chilled squeezed orange juice offered to us upon arrival!!! Same juice in the square 17p a glass!!! But needs must and we were thirsty!!! Poolside bar serves a great G&T! Lots of taxis and caleches outside the hotel. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into the main square so barter for a ride in a calache-its great fun.Enjoy the Andalous and Marrakkesh-but its great to visit Tesco and not argue over the prices.

We found the el Andalous a friendly well appointed hotel worthy of its 4 star rating, if a little faded in parts. We had a room at the front of the hotel which other reviewers had said were excessively noisy but did not find this to be the case - infact the front avoids the afternoon sun which must be an advantage in the summer. The breakfast was adequate if not exciting but the Morocan restaurant was excellent and well worth a visit. Most descriptions say the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the old city, well not from the parts (e.g Djemaa el-Fna) you want to visit, not even a 10 minute sprint, however the taxis are quite cheap (20 dirham/trip in the day, 30 at night, about £1-20 to £1.80)the journey takes about 10 minutes.

Very pleasant hotel in "new" district,30 min walk from the Medina. The public facilities - pool, restaurant, foyer, bar etc were almost 4 star. The big problem was room cleaning. I am  sure that during our 9 nights the bathroom did not have a thorough clean, although there were clean towels daily and clean sheets regularly.

the hotel was undergoing some renovation works on the exterior front, however when you walked in the public areas were very nice. The swimming pool area was realy nice and the rooms were quite good, however i think they need to remove the  fitted carpets. The bathroom was initially very nice but the mouldy silicon around the bath needed replacing. on the whole  a good hotel for the money and the staff were very very helpful and polite. They will arrange any excursions you might like to do. The bar was nice but be carefull as it was very pricey.
