Weekend trip
03 March 2008
The price was reasonable for a four star hotel, which is just outside a metro station and very close to the centre. But we would expect a four star hotel to have an air conditioner working!!!!!! We woke up in the middle of the night to find ourselves all baking in the room. Having called to the reception to fix the AC all we heard from the night shift manager was "No problem, no problem" these were the only words he new in English... Again this is a 4* hotel and I expect the staff in the international hotel to know at least basic English. We finally had to open the window and sleep with the traffic noise. We also did not receive a room service... We were three adults staying in the triple room, but the room was set for two people and having asked for extra tea cup, glass, we were asked to go to the restaurant and pick them up ourselves... The breakfast was OK, but better go there early, otherwise you will find empty plates there - we did. All in all, the room was fairly clean, also don't expect to get what you put in special request. We asked for 2 double beds, but we got 2 single and one folding bed, which I don't know how comfortable it was as I was lucky not to sleep in it. At least Marseille itself was not disappointing - we had a beautiful weather, visited some gorgeous places and came back home without being robbed - you have to watch out for pick pocketters there.
