Overnight Stop

16 May 2008
I only stayed for a Sunday overnight stop. The price, under £42, and location, very close to New Street station were the important factors. My room was excellent, very large, double bed, good-sized bathroom. But the real star was the huge, wall-mounted TV! I watched the climax to the Premiership, played earlier in the day, from the comfort of the double bed in clear, sharp colour. Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of choice, although I was down fairly early. The staff were polite to customers - but not to each other! The manager was clearly not happy with the performance of one of the waitresses and we all knew about it!! Overall, I will stay again - if the price is right.

my hell

15 March 2008
Arrived late at hotel 20.00pm. Only room available was on the smoking floor, so had to take what I type. Bathroom very clean but the bedroom part was not at all clean. The worst thing of all was the smell of cigarete smoke which was so overpowering that the windows were left open all night. Only had a few hours sleep. The only good thing was breakfast which was buffet type hot and cold and plenty of it. Don't think I shall be returning until the refurbish is finished.

Good value for money

11 March 2008
The room was excellent and had recently been refurbished. It was spotless and although we booked a double was disappointed to be allocated a twin. The breakfast was buffet style and did look a little drab, little fruit left and no rolls, meat etc for a continental option. Visitors from abroad would have been disappointed. However at £55 anight it was very good value for a city centre hotel just minutes from the railway station. We would stay there again.

Mixed Feelings

06 February 2008
We stayed in this hotel during a very busy period i.e. Spring Fair in Birmingham. The location in reference to the city centre and New Street Station is excellent. The rooms which have been re furbished since we stayed there some years ago are very nice and the beds are excellent. However I have some complaints. The breakfast was buffet style and was drab and tired. There were plenty staff in the dining room but they were too busy tidying up to look after the customers needs. The tea which was poured from a flask type jug was dreadful. The fruit part of the breakfast buffet was almost empty if you arrived in the last half hour. I also asked at reception about Internet access and was told it wasn't working. I thought this was most un acceptable during such a busy business time in a large hotel. However for the location I would return.

Excellent hotel!

01 December 2007
I booked a room at the holiday Inn for my boyfriend and I as were spending a few nights in Birmingham city centre. We were very impressed with the hotel. On arriving at the hotel was a little disappointed to find we had twin beds although I had booked a double room, my boyfriend rang down to the reception and the room staff were there in minutes and the problem was resolved all they did was zip the two beds together to make one massive double bed. The room was spotless. The breakfast is excellent a huge choice hot and cold and you can eat as much as you like. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Also excellent location right in the heart of the city centre.
