Happy smiling faces

04 August 2008
I took my 8 and 10 year old grandchildren for 1 week. They loved every minute of it. The weather was very hot. The pool was full of holidaymakers laughing and enjoying themselves. The hotel was a 3 star. The accommodation overall was spotless. The food was typical buffet style but something for all. The waiters were efficient and friendly. If you want somewhere where the entertainment and activities flows I would recommend it. It has a lovely garden area if you want to relax away from it all. It has the beach directly across the road. The drawbacks are no hairdryer in bedroom, no fridge in the room (if you need one) Beach towels are not available to hire so bring your own. The sunbeds get towels around them from dawn Although there are plenty there aren't enough umberellas provided around the pool to protect you from the intense heat. Overall it is a 3 star hotel with 5 star quality re the children enjoying themselves and making friends. "When can we go back nanna we don't wan to go home

Just returned July 24th 2008 after day 4 day short break. We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 5 years. We have always found the it a brillant hotel to stay in. The rooms are basic but very clean and the maids who clean are very helpful. There is a wide choice of food in the restaurant all day. We often take our grandchildren with us and they absolutley love the entertainment laid on for them during the day and night by the team Lola, Alex and Fido. The Spanish people who use this hotel, from the old people out of season and the families during high season are 'Rude' but I find that if you ignore them they tend to change. The staff in the hotel are nice and friendly and the more you chat with them the more they like to chat back. The pool area is really good with a life guard ia attendance all day. The location of the hotel is ideal, at the quiet end of Fuengirola (Torreblanca) but only a short distance away is the lively nightlife of Fuengirola. All in all this is a great hotel which in the last few months has got even better since Thomas Cook group took it over, so we, grand kids and all will be going back.

just come back from a week at the gardenia. the hotel is okay but is absolutley full of spanish, which is okay if they wernt so ignorant. you would lose your chair if you got up to go to the bar nd you hve no chance of getting it back. The food is not great but is just about eatable but no choice at all especially for children. However the hotel is lovely and clean and the entertainment team is great aswell as the kids club. Although this hotel is okay i would definatley not return.

Wife and I just returned from here, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent value for money, very clean, great staff, and good food... and plenty of it! The hotel is about 15mins walk from Torreblanca station, so no need for taxis. We will definately return.

No Problems!!

11 September 2007
I stayed at this hotel for 1 week frm 26th aug-2nd sept with my nephew who is 12, friend and her 3 children (aged; 22,19 and 6). I read the reviews before i went as this was my first holiday abroad and when i read the reviews i was a bit dubious about the hotel. I can honestly say that i had NO FAULTS whatsoever with this hotel in any way. The food catered for everyone, the waiters were really friendly and cleared up almost straight away as we finished our meals and i would give them an all round 10 out of 10 for the service we recieved while staying there. The night time entertainment could be improved though! The rooms were spotlessly clean and cleaned everyday, the view from our balcony was lovely also. The bar staff were very polite and and so were the staff working on reception. To be honest i am a really fussy person in everyway and i was TOTALLY SATISFIED with everything about this hotel and so were the rest of the people i went with. I would DEFINATELY recommend this hotel to anyone as we had a really good time and i would definately go back there again.

A very pleasant Hotel, Gardenia Park is situated in Toreblanca, a short bus/train ride to Los Boliches and Fuengirola, the main resorts in the area.  The rooms are always clean and tidy (maid service every morning)with Spanish/German/English TV programmes.  The beds are really comfortable (after an evening in entertainment Lounge). Food is excellent with a fine choice from buffet display. My third visit to Gardenia and I have not been disappointed!

Review of 'GARDENIA PARK'

06 February 2007
Just come back from long weekend and were pleasantly surprised, having read previous reviews which are mixed to say the least.
We had four rooms between us which were all slightly different in layout but all had great sea views.
Rooms were very clean, maids came in every day, clean towels every day if needed. Even had nice hangers in the wardrobes!
Had a TV in the room but CNN & Eurosports were the only english speaking channels. Same in the TV lounge downstairs.
Food was good, various choices, great if you are adventurous & like foreign food but you would be a bit stuck if you just like plain food. There was a microwave for you to use if the food wasn't hot enough for you. Waiters were quick to clean the tables & take away the used plates.
Help yourself snack bar could have been better but if you ate properly at every meal time then you didn't need the snack bar.
No problems with the bars, quick service with the drinks.
Entertainment was geared up for the Spanish but what do you expect-you are in Spain! Had a Quiz & Bingo most nights, great for practising your understanding of Spanish, especially the numbers in Bingo, but it was all repeated in English anyway. Overall evening entertainment was OK. There was a TV/Cards room to use if you didn't like the entertainment & there is a separate smoking room for all you smokers out there(it has got a TV).
Outdoor pool was out of action when we went but we were told of that beforehand(it was too cold to use anyway). Indoor pool was too small for eight of us, so never even tried to use it.
It is a good walk into town, but a nice pleasant one along the prom, but what does it matter if you've nothing else to do.
There is a bus stop opposite the hotel to take you into Fuengirola, cost 90 cents, takes you straight into the main shopping area. Friends caught taxi back which cost just under 7 euros. There was a market in Fuengirola on Saturday morning but it was in fact the worst car boot you have ever been to, you need to go just to take a look! Most shops were shut on Saturday afternoon & only a couple open on Sunday, probably just this time of year.
As other reviews, it was full of spanish pensioners who have no thought but for themselves but just treat them as they treat you.
Would recommend this hotel for a long weekend, if you liked walking & you don't mind different food & you don't mind mixing with different nationalities. Overall - good value for money.

Arrived at the hotel and received a warm friendly welcome from the reception staff. The rooms were clean and spacious and we were all situated together for our party of six. On the first evening the room was accessed whilst we were at dinner and items were stolen. There was no sign of forced entry and therefore the thief must have gained access with a key. The reception staff were excellent when we reported it and were most helpful in contacting the police and translating for us. This did not deter us from having a good time to celebrate my nans 80th birthday. The facilities in the hotel were very good. The food was a good standard and plenty of choice in the buffet style restaurant. The only fault i would say was that the food could have been hotter. As we were visiting out of season, we were limited to where we could get all incusive drinks. Certain times in certain bars which wasnt ideal but apparently its throughout the hotel during the summer season. The hotel was invaded by spanish pensioners at this time of the year and whilst they are quite entitled to winter holidays their manners in the dining room were appalling. They had the opinion that they didnt have to queue for food and would blatently jump in front of you and not bat an eyelid either. The outside pool was in the process of being cleaned whilst we were there and was unable to use it throughout the course of the stay, not that the weather was good enough but nevertheless it was a facility that was unavailible. The indoor pool looks fabulous on the pictures you see on the internet, but dont be fooled if there were 4 adults in then it would be full. It wasnt the kind of pool you could swim in it was just really a plunge pool. A waste of space in my opinion. Overall the hotel was the 3 star that it is rated as and nothing more. If anyone wants to be away from it all then this is it. It is a fair distance from the centre, nightlife and action of Fuengirola. Probably would return in high season but definitely NOT in the winter.

This was our second time to Gardenia Park and it was up to its usual standard! Food was good, selection good, hot and plentiful. Staff pleasant and helpful.  Alcohol as strong as ever so beware!  Everything really clean and tidy.  Only wee problem not much for kids but after all was out of season but the entertainers did try and the shows at night were good.  And we were very lucky as we had excellent weather as well.  So overall was a great new year break!

Review of 'GARDENIA PARK'

20 December 2006
Have stayed at the Gardenia 9 times now so we know what to expect. Most things were as usual ,Staff great, drinks fine and it is generally very clean. However the range of food and quality this time were dire e.g.rubber for bacon, eggs that bounce, hardly any salad, very poor choice of meat and diced carrots for veg.
Luckily the daytime weather was wall to wall sunshine so the complete lack of any activities or entertainment in the hotel was not an issue.
Also if you like bingo and can speak Spanish fluently then the nightime entertainment was OK.
We are hoping that this is a one off and the hotel is saving its budget for Christmas. We will visit again and hope things improve. If not then - adios

i my wife son aged 15 daughter and husband 3 children and oldest son visited the gardenia park in november 2006 for aweek all inclusive. we have been to this hotel a couple of years ago so we had a good idea what it was like.we enjoyed our stay even though its quiet this time of year and the weather can be a bit hit and miss. the down side is you get a lot of spanish pensioners this time of year but they did not bother us. the hotel is a decent walk from the town centre but taxis are cheap and the train stations only 5 mins walk the food is plentifull and edible and your drinks have a good measure, with san miguel on tap. the decors abit dated but clean.the entertainment team work hard and is no worse than any ive seen all over spain and the canaries.ide recommend this hotel but ime sure it would be a lot livlier in season. we like this area of spain you can visit malaga torremolinos gibraltor easily enough.if your looking for a decent value for money stay ide give it a try and will probably visit it again in season.

This was the forth time we have stayed at the Gardenia, more kids this time, but with the well kept gardens you can still find a peaceful spot to sunbathe or read. Food good as usual and plenty of it, a variety of both hot and cold. The staff are friendly and work hard, tables are cleared quickly. Entertainments throughout the day for adults and kids, archery, darts, mini golf, skittles, water polo, shuffle board and if the weather is not too good they go inside, not for the water polo as it wets the carpets! The Victoria lounge fills up very quickly in the evenings, so if you want to see something in particular, then eat early. Rooms are a good size and are very clean, TV has limited stations, CNN for news and Euro sport in English, a good laugh is to try out your Spanish by watching their version of Wheel of Fortune. The beach is just across the road and a few shops just a short walk away, the prom is totaly flat so if your feeling fit you could walk right up to the port and Fuengirola town itself, the taxi ride back is only a few euros, or there is a little road train. Beaches are clean with plenty of sunbeds at about 4 euros for the day. A great place to stay, we will be booking again for Easter 2007.

This was our second visit to the Gardenia Park and found it extremely enjoyable. I suspect it would not suit childless couples trying to get some peace and quiet . It is more suited to families with young children. The food and location are excellent.Perhaps the hotel could do with a coat of paint but I would say it represents extremely good value for money. I had no complaints about service and friendliness of the staff. The restaurant is busy but the waiters work hard and tables are cleared quickly. We had a thouroughly enjoyable holiday in a good clean hotel with a refreshingly relaxed attitude to children.

I cannot really understand anyone finding fault wth this marvellous establishment.  My room was fine, 9th floor, beautiful view and pleasantly quiet.
Food; Excellent variety and plenty of it.  I was especially pleased to find hot plates (and they were hot!) at every meal.  Being out of season, I was unlucky with the weather, but I wouldn't blame the hotel for that!
The lifts could do with being modernised, but in some ways, the short delays while the lifts sorted themselves out was just part of the fun.
Entertainment was fine, in a package holiday kind of way, so no complaints there either.
Will I be back?  You can bet your life on it.
Well done to all the friendly staff, and the other guests I was priveliged to meet.  Next time I will pray a bit harder for sunshine!

Stayed at the Gardenia Park at the end of May 2006. It was my first visit to the hotel although several family members have stayed before and recommended it. The hotel was extremely clean, the reception staff were very helpful and the bar staff friendly day and night. We had several young children in our group who thought it was great to help themselves to ice cream(i think the record was 8 in one day ).
The pool area was more than adequate, plenty of sunbeds and parasols (no need to get up early with the towels...Richard !)
and the entertainment team always on hand to get people into the holiday spirit.
The surrounding area was very quiet, which suited us with it being a family holiday but it was only a fifteen minute walk into the livlier parts of the resort.
The breakfast was excellant and the rest of the food was fine although a little repepitive at times.
Hopefully are party of 14 will be returning next year.

The Gardenia Park Hotel was fab.  Food was excellent and plentiful.  The staff work so hard and are very friendly.  The rooms nearly all have a sea view, which was great.  The rooms are cleaned daily.  Entertainment was ok, but could have been better for both adults and children.  I think Hotel is really good, but I would prefer a better location.  It is inbetween Benalmadena and Fuengirola, which we preferred to be nearer to either resort, although there are plenty of buses.  The Hotel has 50-50 English and Spanish.  We did find some of the Spanish people staying in the Hotel (not the staff, they were lovely) quite ignorant, and arrogant even with small children, and I cannot understand that as we put a lot of money into their country, but there you go!.

I would definately recommend The Gardenia, if you do not want to be in the centre of a resort.

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at the Gardenia Park and yet again we had a fab holiday.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff that do the cleaning are so discreet you almost miss them moving around the hotel.

The food was great again, and of course being all inclusive all drinks and ice creams were readily available.

The hotel entertainment team this year are fantastic yet again.  They made the children very welcome and helped and encouraged them in all of the activities, even helping my children who where among the youngest taking part in the activities (3&5) to win certificates and medals.

Thanks to all the staff at the Gardenia Park for another FAB holiday!

Gardenia Park is a good hotel.

The rooms were nice with air conditioning and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The view from the balcony was lovely.
The gardens were pleasant and well maintained.

I just have a few gripes, which probably wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't at peak season when we stayed.

We went all inclusive. Food was ok, but meal times very stressful. The dinning rooms seemed to be very busy regardless of what time you choose to dine. So secureing a table became an art form!

The pool area was quite over crowded as well.

It probably isn't worth paying for branded drinks. My boyfriend purchased baileys, and was not very happy when it appeared to have been watered down!

The hotel is quite large, and we were on the ninth floor, which was not a problem for us, but if you have children below the age of 10,I would suggest you request a room on a lower floor. As not that safe for small children.
My sister who was in the next room with her family. Taped up the balcony doors for peace of mind.

The Gardenia Park was overall ok.

Gardenia Park is only 5-10 minute walk from train station at Torreblanca, which is only 30 mins from the airport, and at 1euro 25c each its so much cheaper and quicker than getting a taxi for around 30euros.Rooms at Gardenia Park were ok, towel change every day if needed, linen change twice in week, although our air-con wasn't working until the last night, they did provide some fans.Recommend hiring room safe as we did, things we didnt have in the safe went missing, silly things like toiletries, but we had to go and buy more to replace them which was a pain.  Food was ok but slightly repetitive and bland, but always hot and refilled before running out. Snacks were self service burgers, hot dogs kept warm on buffet and cheese & ham toasties. Entertainment team were very good, mixed games for adults and children, and they actually made the stay enjoyable. NO kids club available even though hotel description stated, "Hotel run kids club for age 4 to 12 years". Pool was ok but didnt get the sun until around 11am at the end of June,& then that was only a small section,it was after lunch before the rest of the pool was in the sun.Indoor pool area being renovated which was not mentioned when booking. Not much in the area, a short 10 mins walk to a couple of shops, with inflatables and souveniers, but needed to go further into town for any thing more. Hotel seemed to be doing improvements to old kids club and advised it is possible it will be available next year. If we wanted a cheap break and to stay at hotel without venturing out, with kids club up and running, then I would definately book again.

this hotel has been a best hotel iv stayed in a long time, ifrstly i thought the staff and entertainers worked their socks off and were great with people of all ages, the hotel rooms were nicely clean and the grease nights were just fab, now movin onto the food the food was great if they had ran out of chips there was somemore coming out when the last chip had gone the pool was great and everything about this hotel was perfect i would reccomend this hotel for a brilliant holiday.
