This hotel is not for children and is best for mature couples. The resort is very quiet there is nothing much in the resort other than a few resturants and shops. The best thing about the hotel is the fabulous views. Rooms are nothing special, food is good and entertainment varied.

Excellent - but not the swimming pools
15 June 2009
This hotel is worthy of its 4* rating. Briefly, food is very good, lots of variety and even enough vegetarian options. Be prepared to pile on the weight!
Rooms are well appointed and cleaned to a high standard every day.
Only disappointment is the pool area. Tiles around the pool are cracked and have not been repaired. There are not enough beds / umbrellas and although it states that this is forbidden, people end up putting towels out at 6am to reserve!
The children's pool is not in the shade and should be. All in all, the pool area is not well thought out. There is, however, a lovely inside pool but half way through our holiday the manager decided it was to be rebranded as a spa area and tried to stop access to kids. A number of us managed to get him to relent but we still had problems with this until the end of the holiday. So if you have kids, be prepared to be told that you can't use the inside pool. If you don't have kids, be prepared to pay 8 Euros to use it!
Even with the slight issues over the swimming pools, this hotel is much recommended.

Review of Hotel Cala Vinas
28 April 2009
Excellent hotel, service, food, drink, cleanliness. from the complimentary orange juice or water when booking in, to the fantastic food I was very impressed with the whole place.
We (10 - 35-40 year old on golf and stag week) were all inclusive and drink after drink flowed with bar staff being friendly and accomodating. Even the cleaners where happy and said hello (rooms v clean). Entertainment put on was not too in your face, and you could join in or not. Outside Pool water wasn't the warmest but great for cooling down. Inside pool was heated. great views short taxi (5 mins) into Magaluf.
Would recommend and go again.

28 April 2009
On arrival we were suitably impressed with the hotels appearance. We actually stayed all inclusive basis in the apartments which are about 50-60mtrs from the main hotel, a painless walk. We had full use of all the hotel amenities ie indoor and outdoor pools, basketball and tennis courts, gym etc. This was great to keep my 17 and 12 year old lads occupied on the days we didn't go out.
The appts were quite well appointed, towel change daily. However, beds were never made, room was never swept and bathroom sink never cleaned over the 9 nights that we were there. I feel this should be addressed. This was soon forgotten when you go on to the balcony as the views are amazing, right on the edge of the bay, lovely sunsets and sunrise.
All inclusive is strongly recommended as the price of drinks are quite expensive. The all inclusive does offer a wide variety of drinks from beer and long drinks to coffees and cocktails, but don't expect 12 year old malts, Smirnoff or Bacardi.
There was no compromising the the quality of the food. Always a good selection and wonderfully presented (no beans for breakfast). That said, it was quite strange that the quality could actually improve on the Tuesday evening, offering massive king prawns and other great seafood. I then realised that the reason for this was because that afternoon something like 3 bus loads of German holiday makers had arrived at the hotel. This is an observation and not a complaint.
There is a lack of seating in the main bar/lounge area so taking in the entertainment was not always possible. The entertainment was reasonable enough most nights with bingo every night if bingo floats your boat. One night was pretty lousy with extremely loud and poor guitarist playing to aged famenco dancers.
This is a very quiet resort, great to just chill out. If you want a livlier night Magaluf is just 15 minutes walk, down hill and a 5 Euro taxi ride back. There is no TV rooms in the hotel to receive UK football so I had to go to on of the local bars (2.30-2.50 euros a pint, 4.50euros vodka & lemonade). There are 2 bars and a pizzaria (and a shop)just yards from the hotel.
There is a bus service, very reasonable fares, that runs to from outside the apartments to Magaluf, Palmanova and Palma City. Palma city is worth a visit, just ensure that you get off the bus at the main bus station and check the times for return.
Overall I have no complaints with regards to food, accommodation or location and I really would recommend this hotel.

Just returned from the lovely Cala Vinas Hotel, would reccommend it to young families and mature couples. Its about 15 mins from Magaluf, handy walk in but steep enough on the way back, however taxi rank a few yards from the main entrance €5. We stayed full board and I could'ent fault the menu , the roomor the service. The entertainment was ok but everything too loud, painfully loud in some cases it was impossible to have a conversation in the general bar area and i also heard several people claim about a lack of seating in the area. would reccommend you stay full board as drink is fairly pricy , local spirits wt mixer costs $4.40 and they dont do pints only halves of beer €2.30 which means you would need to get two at a time to have any sort of drink. This is expensive if you consider that you can get a pint of local beer for €1 and spirits €1.50 in Magaluf.
The bar down the street is cheaper if you dont wont to face the excesses of Magaluf! I was only there in the daytime and it was wild enough I've never seen so many lap dancing clubs in the one location! The hotel is situated in a lovely spot on a headland with a little beach at one end. Water was full of jelly fish which had come in to spawn however the hotel has both an indoor and outdoor pool so no need to worry about being stung. overall Cala Vinas is perfect for the quite laid back holiday will definately go back again

Lovely break in Cala Vinas. Hotel - rooms, food and staff - is 4 star quality. As weather was mixed - April 09 - and the resort itself is limited in what it offers, I would only return lif goos weather was guaranteed! But the hotel is excellent for a quiet break.

On entrance to the hotel it does look outstandingly posh with a remarkable reception. However, when entering our room we found no end of problems ranging from the mouldy walls to unemptied bins, to the unmade beds to the stained bath, to the blood stained bath curtain, to other maintenance issues like the tap which doesn't pour water and instead drips water, and the door which opens itself up. When the cleaners cleaned the room, their customer service was absolutely shocking being rude and reluctant. Nevertheless the actual room was perfect, - size, furniture, layout etc. Apart from this lasting first impression I can not doubt the hotel, as its thrilling amenities boost the value up massively and the absolutely outstanding variety of food, truly delicious. If your looking for somewhere good catering wise this is where you need to be, restaurant smart, professional and very well maintained with lots of delicious foods- DEFINITELY GO ALL INCLUSIVE!! The hotel offers wonderful views, a luxury indoor pool and gym plus other facilities. The reception staff were friendly however it was by your party if you wanted to have a casual conversation. Unfortunately, the place feels in the middle of nowhere as Magaluf is where it is. It is on a hill as well making it difficult to find, and hard on bikes etc. Although, I would definitely come back to the hotel (trusting I didnt have a room the state this room was in). I would definetely recommended it to those retired as, as me and my two 19 year old friends felt incredibly intimidated by the older folk who stared making us feel out of place. On the whole Amazing place and perfect.

We stayed here for a week in September 2008 and were not disappointed in any way. The views from our 12th floor balcony were spectacular. The hotel itself had great facilities, it was also very clean and the choice and quality of the food on offer was excellent. We also enjoyed swimming in the sea although watch out for the jellyfish. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a great value for money, relaxing holiday, we will certainly visit it again.

Having spent all day searching the net for a suitable hotel for my picky wife and two sons, I was not disappointed with our choice. The hotel is located in a quite stunning location at the mouth of a small bay in Cala Vinas, which is close (but not too close) to Magaluf. The rooms were immaculate and the food was superb every day, with a wide choice offered. The staff were very pleasant and the entertainment staff were first class. It has a couple of nice pools and there is a lovely beach a short walk away. One bonus for my sons and me was the snorkelling, as the clear water attracted a great selection of fish of all sizes and colours. Can't fault it!

Just a 15 minute walk from Magaluf - perfect if you want to enjoy a quiet relaxing holiday and also good lively night out when YOU choose. staff were very accommodating, food was good and atmosphere was great. Views were stunning from the hotel. Could not find fault with anything. Will definitely return to Hotel Cala Vinas.

09 July 2008
Once again Alpha rooms reviews have proved a reliable guide to what to expect. They were generally very positive and that's just what we found. The hotel is squeaky clean, the food is of very good quality and varied, there was very little queueing for drinks etc and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We went all inclusive and that is well worth the extra even if you only drink soft drinks/coffees etc. It is a quiet location that is just the job if you require a chill out week away but only a short taxi ride away if Magaluf's attractions are what turns you on (we passed). The pool is good, properly supervised and there is a separate mini version for the littlies. Although we didn't travel with children I could see that the animation team were very good with children throughout the day - they all seemed very happy with the entertainment. There is easy access to the sea from the hotel via a small ladder or you can walk to the beach (gently shelving) in just over a minute. Almost all of the rooms have excellent sea views, are modern and are reasonably spacious. If I were to fault anything it would be the amount of shade available around the pool. You can sit adjacent to the bar/cafe under cover but brollies are few and far between. Overall, excellent value for money with Alpha Rooms prices and we returned well rested and several pounds heavier.

Great place for a short break
27 May 2008
We were only there for 3 nights (May 22-25) but could easily have stayed longer. Very good hotel. Very clean with lovely views of the bay. Stayed AI, food and drink excelent. The bay is pretty, quiet and a great place to relax, though not for those who want lots to do. We will definitely go back next time we want a quiet break. We only booked the hotel with Alpharooms but thought it was good value.

We stayed in Cala Vinas Hotel in May 2008 for 7 days. That was a great time for us and we will absolutely go back there next year with alpharooms of course :). We found there a chill and rest. All hotel stuff was fantastic - people are really nice and they are helpful as much as they can. Rooms are cleaned every day. We stayed there All Inclusive - and that was honesty "All Inclusive", not like sometimes in other hotels. Food & drinks was fantastic!!! Hope to be back there every year!!!

30 September 2007
We stayed at the hotel from 22/9 to 29/9. We booked for half board, but after paying 1.70 euro for a cup of coffee, we upgrade to all inclusive which offers free drinks through out. I probably drunk 4 bottles cava within the week. Pool was cold. the heated one was not open for access. Sea view is fantastic. Lot's of fish, so good for those who like to do fishing. The cove is pretty but as usual full of concrete blocks. We had a very chill out week. I reckon the atmosphere largely depends on the type of guests. the last day of our stay, there are a group of younge people. so the place turn a bit nosier.Otherwise, it was quiet. I can't fault the hotel apart from the stern faces at the reception. I have put that into the questionaire about a particular reception staff.

22 September 2007
Stayed at this hotel for 5 days (Sept 17th - 21st 2007), a group of 5 adults, 2 forty something couples and one 76 year old (mother in law) with mobility problems. Apart from the entrance ramp to the hotel being a bit steep (but quite manageable), no problems anywhere for wheelchair access. Went AI and food was excellent and plentiful all week, in fact almost too much choice.
Rooms were spotless and modern with beautiful views over the pool and across the bay. Staff were all friendly and helpful and we never queued for more than a couple of minutes at any of the bars which held a good selection of drinks ( enjoyed the San Miguel). Games and competitions throughout the day but no pressure from the team if you just want to chill out and relax. Nightly entertainment was excellent with a professional show every night. The only downside was the entertainment room itself which has quite a lot of 'restricted view' seats (get there early).
Plenty beds around the pool area which was very clean and tidy and even a lifeguard on duty all day. Also noticed a member of staff checking and testing the quality of the pool water twice in the 5 days we were there.
Not a lot in the resort itself, a few shops and bars, but only a 5 minute taxi ride to Magalluf ( about 4.5 euros) if you want something more lively. We've stayed in dozens of hotels and this one is up there with the best of them. All in all we had an excellent holiday and couldn't have picked a better place for the mother in law's first venture abroad. We would definitely stay here again and probably will in the very near future. Many thanks to all at the Hotel Cala Vinas.

07 August 2007
having stayed at this hotel about 14 years ago, we returned for a weekend break. We arrived after an 11.5 hours delay from Manchester and was met with a very frosty reception clerk who didnt really want to help us. We were given a room on the 4th floor (directly under the dining room) which was our early morning alarm clock!! We were also directly above the entertainment area - so if you want late nights and early mornings ask for room at the far end of the hotel and not on the 4 floor!!. The food was excellent with lots to choose from - as we paid AI the food was plentiful. The hotel was very family orientated and seemed to have lots to keep the younger ones entertained. If you are going for a quiet relaxing weekend as we did - find somewhere else:-). The majority of hotel guests were not british and as such we felt quite intimidated. Overall for the money an excellent hotel but would choose our timing for when the kids are back at school

30 July 2007
The morning after the return from Hotel cala Vinas. Shattered after the late flight, but determined to fulfil the promise to review an excellent holiday and a lovely hotel. I am still to read a poor review of Hotel Cala Vinas - and so are you.... Accomodation is excellent; service standards - from room service to reception; waiters to the entertainment team - are of the highest order. I have stayed in 5* holiday hotels that do not match this one. Location is excellent for our young-ish family, and although there is little close-by, other than the fabulous beach and coves, you chose whether to relax in a number of ideal locations in and around the hotel, which forms part of the beach/bay, or take advantage of the activities laid on by the entertainment team. A mix of nationalities blends happily together to make this one of our best holidays. Many thanks to all at Hotel Cala Vinas

Great holiday from start to finish. Reception staff very courteous and friendly and nothing too much trouble. Fab views from the hotel looking out to sea. Food very good variety. We stayed AI and every meal was good, just far too much to chose from. Great facilities for kids with brilliant kids entertainers. Played tennis, mini golf, and swam everyday in the beautiful pool. All in all thumbs up for everything. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would revisit it.

Having just returnd from the Cala Vinas Hotel in Mallorca I was totally blown away at the great value for money this Hotel offers. Superb sea views from every room. Exceptionally clean rooms with comfortable beds. Friendly staff. There was a wide variety of food choice in the restaurant. Great pool area with the beach on your doorstep. I honestly couldn't fault this Hotel. I have already recommended this Hotel to family and friends. Fantastic stay!

25 September 2006
Just returned from our second visit to the Hotel Cala Vinas. Arrived quite late at night and allocated room 821. When we checked in to the room we were rather disappointed as this room had only a partial sea view and was quite dark and dingy as did not have paio windows but a door which would not shut properly. We asked to change our room and were told by the very polite and helpful recpetionsit that the hotel was fully booked but if we came back in the morning we could change our room. The following morning we changed our room to one on the second floor with fantastic sea views. That is the best thing about this hotel, the sea views, and is the main reason that we would return to this hotel. The food is also very good and the staff very helpful, polite and hard working especially the bar staff who keep the queues moving all the time and although the hotel was full we never had to queue long for drinks. The downside to this hotel is that the evening entertainment is totally non existant. Not so bad for us as we walked into Maguluf (about 20 mins) on an evening but I can imagine if you had young children this would be a down side and there were a lot of complaints from guests with children. The pool area was another downside, it was quite dirty. The staff did use a jet wash to clean the area on one occasion, however all they succeeded in doing was move all the dirt and rubbish to a different part of the pool area. The area was never swept, the tables were dirty and not cleaned and we didn't notice the pool being cleaned out the whole time we were there and as we overlooked the pool we would have noticed. Taking everthimg into consideration however I would still rate this hotel 4 out of 5 because the good points are really good. We will return to this hotel.
