Review of 'HAPPY DAY INN' 31 October 2005 a very basic hotel but it suited our needs as we spent the majority of the time sight seeing and only returning at night to sleep,located close to the bus stop to get to the skytrain and a free phone located in the main reception area for a local taxi firm, I found the reception staff very helpful and the hotel offered a very good daily tour service at a good price,not really much to do in burnaby but new westminster was only 10 minutes away and offered more in the way of shopping, one thing I found was that the main road could be very busy and great care was needed in crossing although they are installing traffic lights just outside hotel. stephen roper, cardiff / wales Family with teenagers 12+
Review of 'HAPPY DAY INN' 18 August 2005 I had pre-booked and pre-paid for 3 nights at this hotel but moved out after only 1 night. The hotel was very basic and that in itself was ok, especially for the price. The air conditioning did not work properly and there was something very 'seedy' about the place. We were in a room that was on the ground floor and it looked as though the window had been forced as it was bent. My friend and I felt very unsafe and this feeling was re-inforced after a walk around the neighbourhood. We decided to leave the next morning and even the taxi driver said it was not a good place to be...'druggies...bad place' were his words. Burnaby is supposed to be a nice area of Vancouver which is why I booked but I am afraid it is our opinion that it excludes this particular area. We had to move to another hotel which incurred more expense and was therefore disappointing...not the place for 2 women and a teenage girl. Susan Green, Durham/England Other
