Great Hotel

16 July 2008
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on 19 June. Its very contemporary, rooms are clean and well furnished. Breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from and it was really good quality grub. Its in a fab location near to Las Ramblas - we had a room facing the main road and its noisy but you get used to it - however, would ask for a room at the back of the hotel if we go again. Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Excellent

27 June 2008
My husband & I stayed at the H10 Universitat on the 19th & 20th June 2008, on arrival we found the reception staff very polite and helpful. We had a 6th floor room which was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom which had a shower over the bath. The room was very modern & although slightly on the small side it was quite adequate for us for the 2 nights which we stayed. The breakfast catered for all nationalities, cheeses, cold meats, juice, cereals & the full english of course. We got the bus from the airport to Catalanya square and the hotel is only a 2 minute walk from there, excellent location to see the city. We would definitely stay in this hotel again when in Barcelona. infact we are looking forward to it.

My Stag Do!!!

26 June 2008
After reading other reviews i found from the airport to the hotel to be very simple! Like everbody says get the A1 bus right outside the airport and this takes you to Placa de Catalunya. It costs only 4.05 euros per person. From Placa de Catalunya the hotel is less then 5 minutes walk. We had 16 lads on my stag do and all commented on how could this hotel was. Breaky was decent, rooms were fab, massive showers and very modern. I would recommend room 108 as this is the only room to have a terrace. Will definatley be going back with my wife to be in the near furture.

Why stay anywhere else?

12 March 2008
The airport bus drops its travellers at Plaza Catalunya and the H10 Universitat is very near this city centre landmark. Lines 1 + 3 for the metro are nearby. The hotel is very modern and can be for both business and leisure break customers. It is spotlessly clean, has all the ammenities you are looking for including a first class restaurant. The staff are extremely helpful and I'm looking forward to not only my next visit to Barcelona but my next stay at the H10 Universitat Hotel.

Review of H10 Universistat

24 January 2008
Arrived at Girona airport which is about 1 hours drive from the centre of Barcelona. There are plenty of coaches outside the airport which go straight to the bus station (esatcio del nord) in Barcelona about every 15 to 30 minutes. A return ticket costs about £15. From here it was just 3 short stops on the Metro and the hotel is a couple of minutes walk away. On arrival at the Hotel, we got offered a choice of rooms as well as a glass of Cava which was nice. We stayed at the back of the hotel which didn't have any traffic noise, however, we could hear the Metro from where we were on the second floor so a room on a higher floor would have been better. Other than that, fantastic hotel, excellent location, great breakfasts. Would highly recommend. Oh, and the room had a huge shower!!

Good Value

31 December 2007
Booked this hotel after reading the reviews, they were spot on! Great location (top of Las Ramblas), easy to get to/from airport via A1 blue bus which goes straight to Plaza Catalunya, hotel very clean, great breakfast choice (but gets very busy around 10am), friendly staff. Very good value for money! Would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Excellent

07 December 2007
My husband and i recently spent 2 nights at the H10 Universitat. It was very easy to locate as it is on a main street just off the Plaza de Catalunya. We got the A1 Airport bus straight into the city for just a few euros (the busstop is located right outside the airport exit and leaves every 7 mins to plaza de Catalunya) On arrival staff were very pleasant and offered us a glass of cava. Our room was very nice with a lovely bathroom. It was at the front of the building with a little balcony, we were on a high floor- the view was good. Breakfast was included in our booking and was very nice with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. All in all we were delighted with this hotel and would thoroughly recommend this hotel and may well return.

Pretty Good

17 October 2007
We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend. Very friendly and helpful staff. Glass of Cava on arrival was a nice touch. We had asked for a larger front facing room with a balcony on a high floor as some of the reviews we had read mentioned the poorer internal rooms. On arrival we were offered a choice of rooms which was much appreciated even though there were no rooms at the front left unless we were prepared to go on the 1st floor. So, must also say good work to Alpharooms for passing on our request. Avoid lower floor rooms as you can hear the Metro on all floors. The rooms are on the small side but have all you need and are clean. Only complaints would be the walls are very thin and the hot water system played up while we were there! Breakfast offers all sorts so would keep anyone happy.

Our Stay

09 September 2007
After check in, the complimentary glass of champagne was most welcome. We had no complaints except that the Bar Man could not speak English and did not have a cocktail list. Also it would be nice to have subtitles to some of the Spanish stations. This was our 1st stay in this hotel and would stay again and recommend it to others. We look forward to staying here again on future visits. We love Barcelona!

The hotel was more than I expected. Me and my boyfriend arrived on the 14th of Aug for 4 nights. The hotel was spotless and was very modern. Our room didn't have a view but that wasn't our main concern. The location was fab, everything was on your doorstep or a quick bus journey. The breakfasts were amazing, a highlight of my boyfriends holiday. I would definately return, sooner rather than later.

Little Gem

04 September 2007
Stayed for 4 nights in this lovely city centre hotel, staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the comp glass of Cava went down a treat. Lovely 7th floor room with balcony at front and it was just great to wake up, open up look out and see this fresh vibrant city and the lovely mountains in the distance. Hotel is small and trendy, very clean and well kept, all mod cons and docor sassy. I loved it and would return and happily recommend to others.Pop round the corner and grab a coffee at the Zurich and just watch the world go by....great de stresser

We arrived at this hotel in june 07 for 3 nights, being our first trip to barcelona we didnt know what to expect. we caught the train from the airport and it was relativley easy to find (get off the underground at the place de catalunya). The hotel was bright modern and airy and spotlessly clean we were greeted with a glass of cava! the rooms were a little tight but all you could need including toothbrush and haircomb and toiletries. the kettle and coffee making facilities were very welcome after a long day and the standard of the breakfast was very high, well done alpha rooms once again on the reasonable rates for this accomodation.

Great Trip

06 May 2007
Arrived on 23rd April for 3 nights, the location of the hotel is great, a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas and the plaza where all the tour buses leave from to all other attractions. We had a front room on the 7th floor and couldn't fault it. No noise great big bed! beautiful bathroom with a great shower. From the minute we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very varied, hot and cold food in a lovely breakfast room. A very pleasant stay in a fab hotel in a great city!

H10 Universitat was well situated to access most of the tourist sites within walking distance.  The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.  The room was clean, comfortable and contemporary and was quiet at night when sleeping.  Breakfast was buffet style ranging from a choice of FRESH fruits, cereals, pastries, cooked breakfast as well as ham, cheese and rolls.  It was a very pleasant stay and we would use it again.

Just returned from a 3 night break staying at the H10 Universitat, Barcelona. We would heartily recommend the hotel as it is in a great location, the room was very comfortable and definately of a 4 * standard. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful even delivering some chocolates from the management to our room for my birthday - its still a mystery how they knew- can only have been my passport!!

24 October 2006
Stayed at H10 Universitat from October 10th to October 17th after reading good reviews .  We were not disappointed.
We had room 711 which was a twin at the front.  Great size and lovely bathroom. We had no problem at all with the traffic when the French windows were closed.  The hotel was very clean and the staff extremely helpful at all times.  The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had - very varied. We also appreciated the free internett in the lobby and the sandwiches and snacks each afternoon.Above all the central location of the hotel made this a perfect choice. We would certainly stay there again.

Review of 'H10 UNIVERSITAT'

09 July 2006
Excellent location - staff very helpful and friendly - breakfast second to none - lovely rooms, very comfortable with beautiful marble bathrooms - however we both felt matresses were too hard - also unfortunately we had problem with first room that developed a leak from AC unit - we were then moved into a room with disabled facilities only to be informed the following day that we would have to move again because they had a disabled guest - therefore, we had 3 different rooms in our 3 night stay - the staff were very apologetic however and did waive our bar bill (modest!) when we checked out!  Overall, I would highly recommend H10 Universitat!

Review of 'H10 UNIVERSITAT'

24 May 2006
We picked this hotel after the favourable reviews and its central location, and it lived up to expectations. We had taken on board comments about the size of rooms and noise, so emailed the hotel a few days before we arrived to request a quieter room.

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, a drink and a quiet room on the 8th floor at the back which was of a reasonable size - you certainly couldn't call it small as in some other reviews of this hotel.

Overall it was let down by a couple of minor points:

1) service for the breakfast buffet was patchy in that we often had to ask for a first coffee several times, old dishes not cleared promptly & cutlery not replaced without prompting.

2) the in-room tea coffee (de-caf only!) facilities were there as expected but they took away the decent china cups and saucers after a day or two and left a few tiny, thin plastic "thimbles" instead! Perhaps this was due to their lack of understanding of what we wanted rather than unwillingness to help us.

We'd recommend this hotel if you're looking for a good central location that's close to the transport links and only 2-3 minutes walk from the top of La Rambla.

Review of 'H10 UNIVERSITAT'

10 October 2005
After a thourough read-up of Alpharooms' guests reviews, we decided to take a long weekend (without our 10&12 year olds) to this hotel and it didn't dissapoint.
We Took the taxi from the airport (£16)without any problems as they're plentyful,fifteen/twenty minutes later were dropped right outside the H10, a less than five minute walk from the Placa de Catalunya (ideally situated in our opinion-just far enough and yet near enough etc).
Our reception was very profesional and courteously met, staff as mentioned in earlier review's do speak a number of languages (including very good English) and made us feel welcome and comfortable. As mentioned we had read-up about accomadations and apparent small room concerns. We had previously asked Alpharooms to mention this and enquired after  a larger and also quiet room, so we ended up in room 708 on the seventh floor to the rear. This room was easily large enough and lovely and quiet to boot (well done Alpha). The shower-room was great, my husband found that the shower-jet it produced was likened to a massage effect for his tired muscles after our expeditions (bless). The room was well set up with a modern feel, with hairdryer and enough shampoo and other bits (although the comb was wasted on my hubby). The minibar was well equipped with the usual, but Mars bars too? TV had the obligitory Sky news/Eurosport/Travel,so he was happy as he could keep up with the footy internationals that where currently playing out.We found the room 'strongbox' a God send even though we felt safe the whole time there, cant praise the maid enough , always replacing everything we used and cleaning/tidying wheather it needed it or not, and as hubby would constantly leave loose coins and notes lying around, these were merely piled up and tidied by this little angel, as I said,we always felt safe there.
One tip I would give is to leave one of the 'swipe'cards for the room in the holder, so the room is 'on' when you venture out . This means that the air-con is running for your return.
Other facilities within the hotel were first class also, the bar was great, again well spoken and very chatty too. There are two internet ready PC's near by to play on (which was good news for hubby to catch up on his sports and I could check on our E-mails at home).
We had travelled and eaten around in the evenings for meals and with the exception of the ATTIC in the Ramblas (reservation recommended- ask at reception)never really

Review of 'H10 UNIVERSITAT'

12 April 2005
I stayed in this hotel in Sep 2004. The bedrooms are small and compact but very modern and have all necessities including mini bar,tv,safe and phone. The en suite bathroom on the other hand is huge (almost half the size of the bedroom)decorated in marbel from wall to wall and has hair dryer etc.
The hotel staff were very helpfull and residents bar staff stayed to the early hours if required.
The hotel in general is very nice and contemporary furnishing compliment the loby making it very welcoming on entry.
My only complaint was the breakfast but I do not enjoy continental breakfast any way.
The hotel in just at the top of las ramblas very near to shopping and restaurants. A nice 20 - 30 mins stroll will take you from one end of las ramblas to the other with lots to see on the way. Dont miss the great shoe shops!!
I would not hesitate to recomend this hotel and would definitely go back.
