Hotel Montcada 26-30 May 2008
07 June 2008
Arrived at Plaza Catalunya on the Aerobus from the airport (4.05 Euro each) and walked to the hotel which took 10 minutes (NB. Having travelled on the metro, it would not be too easy travelling to the hotel from Plaza Catalunya owing to having to change lines and walk up and down steps with suit cases, unless it was raining). On arrival the receptionists were very good and efficient in providing information and a welcome glass of Cava.
The hotel is perfectly positioned in the old town; close to Las Ramblas, the port, restaurants. There's a metro very close to the hotel and useful for shooting around the city.
The single rooms were small but perfectly adequate and on a high floor facing away from the road so were very quiet. A nice small roof top terrace to relax in also.
Breakfast was good and sets you up for the day. A wide selection of freshly prepared fruit, cold meets/cheese, fried egg, scrambled egg, small sausages, baked beans, toaster, fruit juices and very tasty small freshly made pastries.
Would recommend this hotel for location and service and would stay there again.
Also just down a nearby road, excellent tapas at Sagardi (although a little pricey) and Restaurant Paradella in the same street is a very good restaurant and worthy of a visit.
All in all, a good place to stay for four days.

Great Hotel
17 May 2008
This hotel was reasonably priced, so my expectations were not too high but I am pleased to say they were far surpassed. The hotel was stylish, staff were not only courteous and friendly but extremely helpful. Our room was a twin and of good size. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, with a choice of fruits, continental or english breakfast, all within the price.
As we were there for a birthday, the hotel looked at the passport details and a bottle of bubbly was delivered to the room courtesy of the hotel.
The roof terrace was small but great for a spot of sunbathing or drink in the evening, and the view from up there was spectaular.
As you can expect in the city the traffic can be heard, especially in the lower rooms.
Would happily return to this hotel. Great value for money.

Review of 'H10 MONTCADA'

H10 Montcada was a good clean 4* hotel in a good location. Located in Gothic Quarter next to the Cathedral and only a 7-10 min stroll to La Rambla, Placa De Catalunya AND the Port. Not a fancy four star hotel but rooms were spotless and bathrooms were nice. Breakfast was buffet style and was pretty good with hot and cold buffet selection. All in all good value for money and I would recommend it to anyone for a short stay in Barcelona.

We visited Barcelona for the first time to celebrate my 50th birthday, and stayed at the Montcada Hotel. On arrival we were given a glass of Champagne each and the staff behind the reception desk were very helpful and informative. Our room was a little bit small for a 4 star Hotel but it was very clean and tidy, and the bathroom was excellent. The breakfast was also very good as was the service. The Hotel is located about 5 minutes from Catalunya Plaza and the Ramblas, so it was an ideal location for all the buses etc.. We are definately returning to Barcelona in the future and would not hesitate to stay at the Montcada again.

This Hotel is a gem situated at the heart of the Barri Gotic within the shadows of The Catedral & across the street fron Metro Station Juame 1 on the yellow line (L4) La Rambla is a pleasant 5 minute stroll with Museu Picasso & Sta. Maria del Mar Church also 5 minutes away. On arrival we were greeted with the expected glass of Cava and by staff with an excellent command of English. Our room was small but all requirements were catered for and the rooftop Jacuzzi allowed an excellent view of the city. The buffet breakfast was splendid and a pre 9 a.m sitting is recommended to avoid the rush. The No: 19 bus passes the door and will pass La Sagrada Familia in the northern direction and The Port area in the other direction.Carrer Argenteria is around the corner with its many bars, restaurants gifts and design shops. Would definitely go back.

Was greeted at hotel by pleasent receptionist, who spoke excellent English as did all the staff. The Hotel was clean, welcoming and tranquill. The bedroom we were allocated was on the front of the building and so expierenced some traffic noise, but this was only to be expected as the hotel is in the middle of a major city. Facilities in the room were good although tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice. Location of the Hotel was spot on. What more can I say. . . Enjoyed our stay at H10 Montcada and would use this Hotel again, no problem.

When I checked out the H10 Montcada on the net it seemed to be in a good area to visit the old city - in reality it is in an ideal location in the heart of Barri Gothic (old city) only seven minutes walk from the sea front, ten minutes walk from the designer shopping area (l'eixample) five minutes walk to Picasso museum and concert hall. It is also on the Tourist blue bus route. But there is no point staying in a centrally located hotel if it is not up to standard - the Hotel Montcada has achieved a very good standard. Spacious marble lobby manned by friendly helpful staff, doubles with a small bar/coffee dock. Very good breakfast selection in the restaurant (they also serve dinner although we didn't have the opportunity to eat there). The bedroom was small but adequate for a short stay. The hotel was very clean and well maintained and I would recomend it to my friends going to Barcelona.

We paid £225 for 3 nights in November which was very good value.
The room was perhaps a bit small but clean and modern with a very nice bathroom, and big enough bed, Safe, Sky news etc.
Nice breakfast buffet included.
The Montcada is right across the street from the Jaume 1 Metro and perfectly placed to see Barcelona. Good views from hotel roof.
We'd go back.

This hotel is in an excellent location right in the centre of the city and a great base from which to explore the whole of Barcelona. The bedrooms are very small but adequate as Barcelona is such a busy City you wont need to spend much time in bed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. They also spoke great English. The Jacuzzi on the roof was a fantastic place to relax after a days walking around this beautiful city and also offered fantastic views. The breakfast is good although not necessary as there is so much food to try in the city. We had a great time and would use this hotel as a base next time we go to Barcelona.

Review of 'H10 MONTCADA'
06 October 2005
This hotel is located in the middle of the Gothic quarter and provides very easy walking access to the whole of the Gothic area. It is also very close to a metro station for easy access to elsewhere. We were met at reception with a very pleasant glass of Cava, which was very welcome. However, we then were shocked by the tiny room. The double bed had about 18 inches of space along one side and about 18 inches tapering to about 6 inches along the other side. At the foot of the bed there was about 2 feet of space, which was insufficient to properly open the door of the mini-bar. My wife and I struggled to fit all our clothes into the small double wardrobe which also contained the safety deposit box. There were no drawers or other storage facilities provided. The ensuite bathroom however was a good size and perfectly adequate. The rest of the facilities within the hotel were good. The breakfasts were good and the restaurant provided excellent value other meals. The reception staff spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful, particularly in assisting with booking reservations for restaurants and shows etc. The only critism of the hotel is the extremely small size of the room, which would have been much more comfortable if it had contained only a single bed and classed as a single occupancy room. Other guests commented on the small size of their rooms, which are not worthy of a hotel with a 4 star rating.

Just got back today from a 3 night stay at H10 Montcada with 5 friends. Had a lovely time. Hotel was spotless. Ideal location, staff so friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Only complaint was that the hot food ie: bacon, eggs, sausage was always cold even when just brought out from the kitchen, however it wouldnt stop us from staying in the future.

Excellent stay. Friendly welcome on arrival with a glass of champagne. Extremely clean and well maintained hotel. Rooms, albeit of excellent standard, were a little small. All meals were of a very good standard. Perfect location for seeing the City and all it has to offer. Definitely staying here again.

excellent hotel stayed for nights earlier this year. Breakfast was good and we found the staff helpful we were met at reception with a glass of wine and a porter showed us to our room which was much nicer than being given a room number and a key. Very close to Ramblas with a good irish pub just up the road McCarthys Bar. Room was nice maybe a little small but the bathroom was really nice hairdryer, soap, shampoo, shoe shine kit, sewing kit, razor kit all sorts very good...Free internet in the foyer. would stay there again definitely on our next visit to Barcelona

25 March 2005
The hotel is idealy situated in the Gothic quarter with well equiped rooms and friendly helpful staff. Whilst the rooms are not spacious the two rooms our party had were more than adequate. The food in the restaurant at both breakfast and evening justified the 4 star rating. We would have given the hotel 5 out of 5 except for the traffic noise in some of the rooms on the front of the hotel. We would certainly stay there again
