The HEM Hotel Amsterdam is made up of two seperate parts, the three star Hotel and the two star Annex. The three star Hotel is situated in the West of Amsterdam and is easily reached by car or public transport, with Schiphol Airport approximately fifteen minutes away. There is a shopping centre close by. All guest rooms come equipped with a television, pay TV, a desk, an alarm clock-radio and en-suite bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Some rooms are air-conditioned and some feature Jacuzzis. The Hem Hotel also features multi-functional conference rooms for business travellers, as well as a cosy Brasserie Bar, a modern restaurant, internet access and a safe at reception. Room and laundry services are also offered at the HEM Hotel Amsterdam.

At £32 a night including breakfast (which was super!) you cannot moan! I too was put into a 'prison' room for the first night of my stay, but after talking to the receptionist I was moved straight away to a room with a window to the outdoors. Breakfast was unlimited buffet of cold meats, cheese, fruit, toast & jams and hot food, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon and beans. They even gave you a 'doggy bag' if you asked (for your lunch!) Yep, bit further out of the centre, but easy to get to centre on the trams, or only 15 mins walk to the museum’s... If you are used to Amsterdam accommodation you will be AMAZED at what you get for your money here. If you have never stayed in Amsterdam before, I think where ever you stay you will be disappointed!
