Set against the attractive backdrop of the Sierra Almijara mountains and alongside seemingly endless beach and blue waters, Nerja retains much of the charm of the fishing village that it once was. In particular, the old section of town remains full of traditional Andalucian charm. Nejra is famous in part for an unusual natural formation of large caves featuring unusual stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as prehistoric cave paintings.
