Overview

Famously known as the setting for the 1942 Oscar-winning romantic film ‘Casablanca’, today it is the leading economic and business city in Morocco. With its high-rise cityscape and a population of over six million, it resembles a Southern European city while still retaining its Moroccan character and old French style. The Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest religious monuments in the world and dominates the city’s landscape. Looking out over the Atlantic sea, the strong Moorish design of the Mosque reflects traditional Morocco and guided tours explore the stunning interior several times a day. The New Town of Casablanca was designed by the French architect Henri Prost and has some of the most impressive buildings in Morocco including beautiful Hispano-Mauresque and Art Deco styles. Casablanca is ideal for travellers wanting an alternative city break, combining Moroccan tradition and a more modern way of life.
