Paris is an enchanting and romantic city situated on the banks of the River Seine and is popular with couples and culture-seekers the world-over due to its laid back attitude and world-class attractions. The city is divided into twenty distinct districts, known as arrondissements, each of which has its own individual character and history. Due to Paris’ efficient transport system visitors can easily access all parts of the city, from the modern business district of La Defense with its monumental arch and shopping centre, to the quaint and historic Montmartre home to the famous Moulin Rouge and beautiful Sacre Coeur Cathedral. For those looking for culture and history Paris is not short of attractions. A good way to get a feel for the city is by taking a pleasant boat trip down the Seine, taking in views of the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame and the domineering Louvre museum.
Please note, there is a a tourist tax (“taxe de séjour”) in Paris which is applicable to all forms of paid accommodation
During their stay in Paris, visitors are usually asked to pay a tourism tax or a flat-rate tourism tax which is fixed by the local authority and varies from € 0.15 to € 1.07 per person per day, according to the quality and standard of the accommodation. Where the tourism tax is not flat rate, children under 4 years of age are exempt and children under 10 are charged half the rate. This tax is collected locally at the accommodation
