Playa De Taurito Playa de Taurito is a small resort currently undergoing expansion. It lies on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria close by to Puerto de Mogán (90 minutes form Las Palmas airport). Although a quiet resort it only takes 10 minutes by car to travel to the livelier resort of Puerto Rico. The resort is quite hilly and so offers spectacular sea views. Playa Taurito is a black (volcanic) sand beach and close by is Playa D'Amodores, a man made beach with imported Caribbean sand. The resort is an ideal location for couples for a relaxed beach holiday and also families with children old enough to entertain themselves, although the hotels do offer play facilities and entertainment. This holiday offers quiet evenings relaxing at the hotel but with the flexibility of a livelier night out a short taxi ride away. The resort is probably not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as some areas are hilly. Hire a car to explore the surrounding areas and the rest of the island. The Maspalomas sand dunes are only 20 minutes away and a large shopping complex on the motorway towards Las Palmas. The Aqua Sur and Ocean Park water parks are close by and offer a great fun day out for young and old alike.
