A Tourist Playground
Playa de Las Americas is a tourist hotspot, bringing in holiday makers of all ages from all over the world. Part of the Canary Islands, it is the ideal get away for young travellers, flocking in for the all year round sunshine. Recent years has seen a growth to more up market bars and restaurants, attracting more families and couples to Tenerife’s largest tourist playground. Situated just off the African Coast, winters can be much warmer than many other European resorts, making it the ideal place to indulge in some winter sun. Both natural and man-made beaches can be found here, covered in dark volcanic sand and linked by a promenade. Virtually free of anything Canarian, but for those who enjoy a packaged fun break in the sun, Playa de Las Americas will be right up your street!

Many a Happy Hour…
Nightlife comes as part and package in this resort, with a string of bars and nightclubs and plenty of happy hours to take advantage of. ‘The patch’ is the best place to start, with popular spots including ‘Rags’ and ‘Linekers,’ and ‘Tramps’ which is the largest and most popular club to end up in at the end of the night. There’s a variety of music and impersonators for everyone to enjoy which go on until the early hours. For those who like to splash a little cash, you may like to try your luck in the casinos the resort has to offer.

Haggle down a Bargain
Shops are highly aimed at the tourist market, with plenty of cheap and cheerful sunglasses and swim suits on offer. However, you may like to take advantage of the duty free delights in the many clothing and electrical shops. Top tip: bargain hard and bear in mind the shop next door is probably selling the same stuff. The Torviskas Market on Thursday’s and Saturday’s is a must for those who enjoy a bit of haggling, and supermarkets are always a good call for cheap cigarettes and alcohol. All in all, you can’t go wrong!

Home from Home
You’ll certainly never be short of places to eat in this resort. The famous British breakfast is served all day and there are dozens of familiar fast food joints along the sea front including British pubs, chip shops and pizza outlets. This is a real home from home for those who prefer to stick to what they know. There’s a wide variety of restaurants to choose from too, including Chinese, Indian, Italian and of course, Canarian. Top rated restaurants include 'Molino Blanco' and 'Folias', which cater for every taste.

Beyond the Beach
Playa de Las Americas is easy to get around with plenty of buses, taxis, bikes and hire cars available. Activities include water sports, arcades, tennis courts and even camel riding! Aqualand is well worth a visit, with its many pools, slides and even dolphin shows, this is a great day out for everyone. Boat rides are popular too, with fishing trips on offer and boat trips to the capital, Santa Cruz and Mount Teide National Park.
