great value

The last few reviews say it all.50 yards from the underground 100 yards from the museums great eating places all around the hotel. Yes an old fashioned hotel but fantastic value for money. Will now use the hotel every time we stay in London

Nice Hotel for Theatre Break

28 May 2008
Excellent value for money, spacious room, brilliant location and walking distance from Tube. The only issue I had was after the Theatre show finished it was pouring down with rain so we decided to go back to the hotel and watch a movie as the hotel advertised pay per movie facility. Unfortunately, when I made enquiries about it, it was not working. This was frustrating as this should have been mentioned when booking in because we could have made other plans.

Stay At Grosvenor

19 May 2008
Great hotel. Great location, good breakfast, room size was huge! We were on the ground floor at the front and did not have any traffic noise problems. Efficient staff and helpful -- when pulled away from their daily duties on their PC's!! Otherwise, highly recommended

Fantastic Weekend at Grosvenor Kensington

04 March 2008
Great Hotel, excellent location, I agree with other comments that it could maybe do with a lick of paint in certain areas but the hotel is great value for money. Large room which was exceptionally quiet even though we were on the main street. Clean and warm and an excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Thank you alpharooms for recommending it.

Good value hotel, right next to South Kensington underground. Walking distance from Royal Albert Hall, Natural History, Victoria & Albert and Science Museums, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge (Harrods) etc. Good sized room, decent beds, clean and warm. Good variety for the buffet breakfast. Pleasant helpful staff - all in all a very pleasant break.

Not a bad hotel all in all. Good value for money. Very central and easily accessible particularly from Heathrow. Breakfast was good and the standard of cleanliness was acceptable. However, we couldn't get the shower in the room to work and we asked Clara in reception to help - she said loads of customers have that problem but she didn't know how to work about it either. However, I wouldn't let the apathy of one staff member put me off and we would be happy to return.

Great Location and good value

01 October 2007
My wife and I were going to see the Sound of of Music and wanted a hotel fairly central where we could stay a couple of nights. The Grosvenor was the ideal location, next to South Kensington tube Station with a good selection of restaurants and a nice walk to Hyde Park via the shopping in Knightsbridge. Close to the museums for those like myself requiring a little stimulation. Although the hotel was in need of spucing up in areas the overall amenities were acceptable for our needs and there was a hearty breakfast to start your day. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

reflexology conference

29 September 2007
I travelled to London with a colleague to attend a reflexology conference and we needed somewhere to stay for the night that was clean and reasonably priced. This hotel fitted the bill plus it was very close to the tube station. There were also many interesting places to see such as the nearby museums and nice little pavement cafe's to satisfy our appetite. However the hotel is strange with it's eclectic mix of decor ranging from mid 1930's to 1990's which doesn't seem to match it's grand exterior. Also there didn't appear to be many staff about in fact the only person we saw was one receptionist who seemed to be responsible for everything until the next morning when three members of staff appeared in the restaurant at breakfast.

needed a hotel for a prince concert but did,nt want to pay over the odds.i wanted to do some shopping but my husband hates it and wanted a bit of culture!this hotel is so well placed for both, the natural history,v+a and science museums are a 3 minute walk whilst harrods is a tube stop away.south kensington tube station 50 yards away! i agree the hotel could do with a lick of paint but the room was huge and very clean and suprisingly quiet at night for such a busy area. i found the staff very polite and friendly and breakfast very hearty a good start to the day! i would,nt hesitate to stay here again .

Surprisingly good!

17 September 2007
I booked this for a last-minute business trip, and at the price didn't expect much - but I was pleasantly surprised! The decor, whilst a little tired in places, was of reasonable quality, the room was far from a box, the area offered all types of restaurant facilities and a half-decent pub in a very small radius, and excellent access to South Ken tube, which is Circle and District Lines, meaning it was easy to get to the City, which is where my business was, plus easy to get to from Victoria, after getting off the Gatwick Express. At that price, I'd definitely stay there again, and would take my wife there for a "theatre weekend". I just checked down and noticed some comments about the shower - it was a bit fiddly to find the control (the collar at the bottom of the pipe going up to the showerhead) and stiff to operate, but a good powerful shower once you'd worked it out!!! :-)

Value for money

13 September 2007
For Kensington this hotel offers value for money. A basic room that was clean and tidy and an adequate breakfast for half the price of room only in other hotels in the area. With a lick of paint and a little TLC to brighten the place up I would have given it 4 stars. Dinner isn't an option at the hotel however it is within 5 mins walk of a host of cafe's and restaurants offering all styles of food. It isn't a place to impress clients or prospective partners however it will impress yor boss when offering up your expenses.

GOOD LOCATION

29 August 2007
My priority was walking distance from Royal Albert Hall and then closeness to tube station and cost. This hotel filled these criteria perfectly. The decor was O.K. to me, room was good with hair dryer and comp toiletries although I didn't manage to get a shower as I couldn't turn the control on! Breakfast food good but couldn't get any hot water out of jugs for tea and no one around to ask. Would use again if want that area of London

Great location, literally seconds from the tube, and plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. I would echo other's comments about the decor, pretty tired and the rooms are basic (and somewhat small), but it does have everything you need. Breakfast was really good - plenty of choice and lots of it! As a woman who travels alone, safety is also important, this hotel felt very secure. I have tried a lot of similar priced hotels in London and have to say this is one of the best value for money - I would definitely stay there again.
