25 July 2008 Holiday

30 July 2008
Arrived at the Hotel, first impressions were good. We were alocated a room on the 4th floor for 4 people. The main double bed appeared to have forgotten its matress. Every spring could be felt as you lay down on the rock hard bed. The sofa bed took up most of the room and you couldn't help but trip over it every time you went to the balcony which incidentally had 2 chairs on it which meant we had to take it in turns in the sun. The Swimming Pool was our first encounter where we accidently stole some poor mans sun umbrella whilst he had gone for a swim. He had had to buy one from the shop as we wern't to know that you have to rise at 7am and put your towels on the sunbeds before breakfast and claim your hotel pool umberellas there and then even if you werent going to the pool until after dinner. It was like a cattle market!. On the good side the food was excellent and sort of made up for those things we had forgotten about a package holiday! The Beach was a 15 minute sprint and not a 15 minute stroll and I think you would have to be on the top floor for a sea view as we requested. Evening entertainment was OK and the games room was good for the kids. All Inclusive facility was good Value. Probably won't go back.

July 2008 Holiday

13 July 2008
Booked for low floor got the 10th floor top of the hotel, booked for not pool view, got pool view, arrived given our key 1 lift not working so had to queue for the other one got to the top the key didnt work, went down to reception who told us how to use the key (we travel a lot so know how to use card key) went back after another queue key did not work went down to reception again they sent a mechanic who could not get the key to work and gave us a conventional key which thank goodness did work, we had now wasted 45 mins. Didnt try the food this time so cant comment on that. Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels each day so no complaint. We will not be going back again because the pool area was to cramped and not big enough for the amount of people in the hotel, dont go to this hotel if you want to get away from howling screaming kids who are not supervised.

Just returned from staying a week at the Greigo Mar, I stayed in this hotel before about two years ago so new what to expect but was very suprised to see that the hotel had been badly neglected. The communual areas of the hotel appear shabby and in good need of refurbishment. The food and the service in the hotel was however fantastic with and excellent international choice of dishes ranging from Paella to Roast Beef. The pool was very conjested every day and in my opinion was to small for the hotel. The hotel is in the heart of Torremolinos but what should be noted is that most of the places to go are on Torremolinos Beach which is a good 15 minute walk and down almost 500 steps to the beach so you need to be fit, for the less fit a taxi can arrange for around 8 euros. A word of advice to anyone traveling to the Greigo Mar be sure that the room you are allocated has a working air-conditioning unit as mine was not and there where no other rooms available in the Hotel. All in all dont pay to much for this Hotel as for just a little extra you can get one on the beach which has superior facilities and a working air-conditioning unit.

Great time!

14 June 2008
As a member of a group of seven we found the Griego Mar a great place to stay.Location is near to shops, restaurants and local amenities. Anyone who is less mobile or struggles with hills would be advised to take a taxi to the beach(I"m a taxi driver and found their services to be reasonably priced). The hotel rooms were cleaned each day and towels and toiletries were replenished when required. All in all I would have no problem with staying at this hotel again....Happy holidays!!!!.

Ignore bad reviews. Hotel was clean, the food good. Quite a walk to the beach but there is always the lift back. The only down side was the entertainment (definitely to noisy for me). This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel.

All inclusive not here again

31 May 2008
Cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for. Hotel is tired. Rooms are very small and children have to sleep on a pull out settee. Parking is extra, food is OK but just reminded me of 1980s school dinners. The staff where friendly and problems were fixed quickly. Satellite TV provides you with BBC1 BBC world news and CNN. We have stayed at several hotels on this costa but will not be returning to this one.

overall a great hotel with great food.Located a short walk from the train, main shops and nightlife.Plenty to do in the day time(animacion team) if you want to although the evening entertaiment was a bit dull, we like to go out of an evening so this was ok, this was the reason we did not go all inclusive but most people seemed to go for this, bar prices in the hotel were not bad. Food was good, always hot and plenty of variety.

Good Value for Money, Good Location

25 April 2008
Stayed here half board, clean, spacious rooms, good location. Lovely view from 5th floor of pool and sea. Food reasonable, plenty of choice. Good value for money Hotel in centre of torremolinos, 10mins walk to beach, alot of steps (wouldnt recommend for wheelchair users), but we had a pram and was okay, a lift also can cut out the steps at 50 cent per person, worth it! Large swimming pool, but no smaller kids pool. Kids play park within grounds Would recommend for families

1 week in greigo mar brilliant

10 March 2008
Ignore any of the bad reviews of this hotel itwas brilliant, once you get your bearings and find out where places are you will have a great time ,yes if you go to the beach there are lots of steps but there are also plenty of shops to look at on the way down and long as you go the right way eg: come out of hotel cross the crossings down the steps, across the road, go right about 200 yrds you will see some tiled seats, turn left go straight down to the bottom and you will come across a dual carriageway, cross the road and you will find lots of shops, keep going all the way down and you will come to the beach it will take you 15 mins max or 3 hours if you can't resist shopping. On the way back to hotel there is a lift, it's on the 2nd bend as you are walking back up, an african shop is on the side of it with double garage doors on the right can't miss it, 50 cent each. It cost us 23 euros on the taxi but on the way back we found the train station 5 min walk and it takes you straight to the airport 2 adults 2 kids cost us 4.60 euros theres lots of people getting off so can't get lost eg: front of hotel cross the crossing walk down some steps and keep going until you get to dual cariageway cross the road and it's infront of you, we went to Tivoli World Theme Park on the train and it cost 8 euros return that was brilliant anyone that has got kids from 4 to 94 they would love it we went in march and it was only open saturdays and sunday from 12 oclock. Benalmadena weather in march car't fault it, sunny most of the time. Warm enough for shorts. Pool and sea was very very cold but who cares we were all inclusive, food was ok, snack bar could of been better but free ice creams, lollys, crisps, white wine was super. Wonderful beer was strong. The rooms were a little bit small but we only slept in them. Maid came in and cleaned every day in a fashion but was liveable .For little kids it's a must to see the crocodiles it's a bit on the dear side but kids will love it ask rep where it is. It's in walking distance, hope this helps you all out there to enjoy your hoidays a little bit more. addios!!!!

excellent food

03 March 2008
The hotel was very clean and the food was excellent (coffee not good take your own). Staff were all friendly and helpful. Location is not brill but if you like a walk it would suit, it's a 20minute walk to the beach and there's quite a few steps to use again if you like a walk and are able not a problem. Taxi was 17 euro from airport plenty available. This is a busy hotel even at this time of year so i would imagine it would be too busy in the summer season for us but would recommend it in the winter season mainly because of the pool size.

02 March 2008
first time at griego mar and last as a person with walking problems not to be recommended as a mobility scooter user, the hotel has 2 steep ramps to enter and once inside 1 x4inch step down the first day i saw a wooden ramp but after that it vanished, iasked the management about with no response at all.i met 2 other disabled scooter users who found the same response,in my opinion not a hotel or area for people who need wheels.

good hotel

07 October 2007
just returned from a weeks stay at griego mar, good clean hotel rooms cleaned every day, staff good except for one barman in pepe"s bar who switched over to spanish tv when emerdale was on (how dare he )they say its a stone's throw from beach, well he must be some stone thrower, it is not a hotel for anyone wanting a beach holiday, its about a 15 minute walk down a lot of stairs and the walk back up is a struggle, we found a lift to get us back up of the beach cost fifty cents, the food was ok but a little more choice on the main coarse would have been better, the shops are near but the beach is more than a stones throw, a good hotel and i can recommend it for sure

Review of 'GRIEGO MAR'

03 August 2007
Just come back from a ten day break with wife and a 4 & 6 year old. I thought the hotel rooms were a little dated, very 1980's, however they were clean enough. The towels get changed daily, Pool area as other people have expressed is very busy. I got up 9.00am and watched all brits i must say waiting for the sunloungers to be unlocked which happens at 9.00. so you need to be ready. The meals were great cant really fault it also endless milkshakes, icepops and icecreams as we were all inclusive. Overall great location staff ok and safe for the kids

Hotel was very good rooms were very good nice size for a family of four just been refurbished to a good a standard. the only concern we had was the food was never hot enough although a good variety, the bar areas were good as you could get branded drinks for 1 euro and we never had to queue, location was good but a 20 minute walk to the beach get a taxi back as the hill is very steep 6 euros for taxi well worth it.

after reading the reviews from other guest i was a bit apprehensive about going however upon my arrival i was inpressed from the beginning.  the hotel is nothing special but nice.  the staff are all very friendly, the food very nice and plenty of it - there should be something for everyone even if its chips.  the hotel is very clean, rooms tidied every day.  the only problem was the weather but thats not the hotels fault - even on rainy days my kids still went in the pool which was cold but nothing seems to stop kids.  shame the hotel is in the shade. overall if its a relaxing break you want then this hotel is for you as nothing is too much trouble for them and eveything is done on a relaxed pace.

Good location for the shops, bars and restaurants but a 25 minute walk to the beach.  Hotel was clean, staff were pleasant and you couldnt fault the food.  Pool area was too small for the amount of guests (if you dont get a bed by 9am youve had it) and you couldnt get a seat in the evening to watch the entertainment.  The snack bar only ever had a maximum of 2 serving so you had to queue for a while to get a drink. Kids club was dissapointing and didnt cater for the under 5s.

First Visit to 'GRIEGO MAR'

29 June 2006
Reception on arrival was excellent, booked in and room allocated within minutes. Room was clean and tidy with a pool view and balcony, although the room was rather basic it was cleaned daily with fresh towels daily. The food was 3* quality but only because my wife and I are not fussy eaters, you might think different. The hotel entertainment is less than basic and should be improved, even if they played a little dance music would help, example of entertainment was musical chairs for adults and bingo for kids there was also a large games room for children...YAWN... Having said that the hotel is well situated and a 3 minute walk takes you into the town center. The staff were very polite and helpful and worked very hard. We would visit this hotel again mainly because of its situation, but it would have to be at a budget price.

The hotel was our base for a golfing short break (4 days).  The rooms were clean and had maid service daily but if the air conditioning was on it was not cooling the room.  Even though it was mid May it was very busy and it was difficult to find an unoccupied sun  bed.  The food was O.K. but quite bland.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  Overall the all-inclusive option was excellent value.  Despite that I don't think I would bring a family here especially during the peak season.

the hotel is only a short taxi ride from airport only 17 euros.
on arriving it looks very nice and is very clean, checking in at reception is no problem all the staff are very friendly.
rooms and all the hotel is very clean and looks like it has recently been decorated.our room for 4 was a decent size, nice bathroom and comfty beds but we had a room over looking a grotty back road so ask for pool view.
cant really fault the food, sometimes a bit busy as hotel was full of spanish pensioners who love their food!after may it is full of brits,so i think i prefer the spainsh!the food wasnt very hot but not much problem getting something u like, even a kids buffett.breakfast best meal of the day, lovely bacon and really nice sausages, coffee is horrible tho!
entertainment at night was good, ran by a really nice man called Juan,he is really good fun if you have a luagh and joke with him and give him your old magazines to learn his english from!

The olny draw back of the hotel is the distance from the beach,it is a good 20 minutes walk downhill and lots of steps back up.good for town centre tho and for san miguel street where all the shops are.
I would go again as we all enjoyed it,better than the last all inclusive we did,no queues for bar and very friendly, very good value, with flights and hotel it only cost us about£550 for us all so u cant grumble about it!

I had a fantastic holiday...i think some people should give this hotel a break. My friend and i went for a weeks break and was really suprised how clean the place was. the food was top...i really can't fault it one bit...ok there was a lot of chips but everything else was so nice.always a good selection of bread and fruit which was great. The room was lovely and clean and having a bath in the hotel instead of a sower (well as well as) was totally bliss. The staff were great...this hotel has 3 bars (one being in the hotels own night club, not noisy mind you!)The only bad thing i can think of was that it was too big...i got lost a number of times. I liked the idea of the hotel having web access so i could keep in touch with my family at home, i found this cheaper than phoning! I loved the town and beach.Everyone was so friendly i can honestly say its the best holiday ive ever been in...so good in fact im going back there next year and im counting down day by day.

Just got back from staying at this hotel 27/10/05. Hotel clean rooms were very nice quite spacious but opposite building site but with it being October work didn't start till after 8. Food was fine except for all the spanish pensioners who were staying the same time, very rude pushed in front all the time glad we only had breakfast there! Beach lovely which we went to each day as no sun around the pool kept very fit going up and down those steps!!Not much entertainment in pubs and the prices were a rip off in most of them.Found a little irish bar Micks i think it was called really cheap and friendly told us about resturant ROMAS go there food brilliant staff very friendly. Would think about going here again but only for a few days not keen on resort itself. Staff at hotel were very nice especially our maid
very cheerfull.Overall not a bad place to stay but may try further down the coast next time

Review of 'GRIEGO MAR'

18 October 2005
My 12 year old son and I have just returned from staying at this hotel for a week and I am writing this review because I was a bit apprehensive about going there due to some of the reviews that I had read.
This hotel was spotlessly clean, the room was pretty basic although it did have a bath and a shower which was a pleasant surprise! Our room was cleaned every day, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful, especially the Reception staff who put my son's medication in the fridge every day for me - nothing was a bother to them!!
Yes, it is a long, steep walk to the beach but the taxis are cheap to use.
The only downside to the holiday at this hotel was that there were a lot of more senior Spanish guests and the entertainment was mainly geared towards them - plenty of other entertainment around Torremolinos so it wasn't really a problem for us.
The food was okay - plenty of it but not that much of a variety.
Please don't be put off by some of the other reviews you may read - this is a nice, clean, friendly 3 star hotel, not a 5 star luxury hotel!! I will certainly go back without any hesitation!

Review of 'GRIEGO MAR'

15 October 2005
we recently came back from this hotel which we stayed at from the 28th september till the 13th october, we are a young couple aged 22 and 23 we have two young children aged 2 and 3 although there wasnt any entertaintment for the very young children (due to the time of year apparently) they still enjoyed watching the entertainment that was put on, the two resident entertainers were very friendly and very good with the children as were all the staff in this hotel. Food was a very good variety each day except it was always chips and very rearly done a potato veriety. I would advise that if u want a good cooked breakfast u should get there early as its keeped warm so the quality of the food gets worse the later u eat but we only found this with the breakfast. although the room was very basic the cleaning was done every day and clean towels were put in the room. Outside the hotel ther was lots to do, the aqua park (10 mins walk) was open till end of september, next to the aqua park was the crocodile park which was very interesting and u even get to hold a real baby croc, these were all very reasonably priced for entry. The beach was very very nice at 15 mins walk it was well worth the walk down the hill. There is a lift which goes down to the beach which saves u walking back up the hill and at only 0.5€ about 30p it cuts out a lot of walking, if u dont mind traveling about 15 mins away in a taxi there was benamadena wich has the sea life center, fair and the zoo. Well worth giving this hotel a try i think u would be pleasently surprised.

Too good to be true - Review of 'GRIEGO MAR'

14 October 2005
I would like to say that the "Griego Mar" was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at - but I can't because it is fantastic value for money.
I would like to give it one out of five - this might help to keep its prices down - but I can't - Been going there for nine years - never fails to impress for cleanliness, friendliness,Great food with lots of choice, brilliant staff who do a great job under difficult circumstances - if you don't think its difficult you should spend a week there when it is full of Celtic supporters, mostly without tickets to see their team play in UEFA Cup in Seville.I've done that - I've watched Di's funeral on the cafe bar TV and wiped the bar of tears from the bar staff. If you can't enjoy yourself here - of any age - you are a sad person. it's GREAT
