REVIEW GREEN PARK

06 April 2008
Having just returned we are looking to travel to Tenerife later in the year and will most certainly stay at Green Park. We stayed here a few years ago and were more than happy with the accomodation for the price we paied. O.K. it's not 5 star but it isn't 5 star price either. It is clean and well maintained with freindly helpful staff. We hired a car and there is ample, well-lit parking with a security guard around the hotel and grounds. Not that you feel it is needed as it feels safe. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that they hire a lifeguard and they really do keep an eye on the little ones. We were self-catering but the problem did seem to be with the food so half -board not recommended. Pool also cold as not heated as advertised but beautiful and clean and very refreshing as you over-heat. Would recommend for money.

The hotel was clean and in a good location. The downside from our point of view was that it had a 'tired'feel and was getting near the time for a refurb. We would probably not go again if other accomodation was available.

We stayed at Green Park for two weeks in February 2007.Our apartment was on the ground floor and was good although there was noise from an extractor fan in the adjacent la Corbeta snack bar. We asked for a move and the staff were helpful and so we moved to a third floor apartment.

Bad points:- None really

Niggles:- No toaster/grill,no electric kettle, could do with a bigger range of pans and some TLC (broken hinges ect) We were self catering so the above points mattered to us but at the price we payed what the heck. Two nights per week the Karaoke in the Sundowners bar went on for a bit too loud and long for our taste!

Good points:- Spacious apartments, constant hot water, helpful cheerful staff, maid service good, all facilities were in the complex(bars x3,restaurents/cafesx4,supermarket,launderet)the
sunbathing areas good although I am not sure whether the pool/s were heated as stated. perhaps I'm just a wimp! If you are a plane spotter you will not need binoculars!

We loved our stay at Green Park and intend going back as soon as possible.

I have to say that the place is very nice and there lots of things anyone could do, evrything is relatively close and the employees are very friendly. there is a small problem about the cleaning service and that didnt buther me much i went there to relax and enjoy with my girlfriend for a couple of days, we had a studio apartment and it was very nice the kitchen was not fully equipated but we survive, there are a couple of bowls and a frying-pan and eanogh dishes for 2 or 3 people. i advise any one who takes this kind of accomodation to take an opener for wine or beer, a good knife. you can buy all of these in there as well if you dont want to carry much with you, prices are very good.
There is also a little bit of noise from time to time bu it is nothing to worry about. It is very close to the south airport of tenerife and you will hear the airplanes very loudly, they almost touch the roof of the building.
Well i cant say more than this... The place is very nice and we had a very good time, we went looking for something new and we got it.
Enjoy !

We were on half board basis and got a selfcatering room, that was just as well as the food is the worst I've ever had the misfortune to taste, we ended up only eating at the hotel once. The hotel was nice enough and clean. The resort itself was very, very quiet with a couple of pubs & shops. I would recommed this resort to the 70yrs upwards age group but even then they might get bored, don't go there if you have kids they'll never forgive you.

Fantastic,I shall be going back to Green Park in the near future, no gangs of boozed up chavs, no booming music from nearby nightclubs,(there isn't any) everything I needed in this complex for a relaxing week over the new year period, & the sundowner bar is like going in your own local, with all the clientele in the age range between 35-70 a little part of England with the sunshine.

We have Stayed at Green Park and have recommeneded it to many people, but after the way we were treated this year we don't think we will be recommending it again,
we booked in May asking not to have a pool facing room because of the noise that comes from the Sundowner Pub, so what did they do give us a room in line with it, luckerly it was not as bad as last year when we was unable to get to sleep due to the music.
when we got to our room we had no paper Bathroom tissue in the Bathroom, the sink in the kitchen  had a dripping tap.
and it wasn't until Thursday at 6.15 pm we had our room Cleaned and the beds made and that was only because i went and complained the room had not been cleaned since we arrived on the Sunday, the bin was not emptied until thursday.
the towels were torn and also not changed until i asked for clean ones. there were wires sticking out of a wall where the light should of been, the bed settee had a slate missing from it so you had to watch where you sat.
the sheets were just turned over so we would think they was cleaned, but i knew they were the same ones as one had been mended and when i made the bed myself on Friday.
Don't get me wrong the Area is nice and there are lovely places to eat and great walks to take around the area. it seems there are new staff at Green Park this year and the Standards have Dropped a lot. We still had a great holiday and would go back to that area again but as for staying at Green Park again i think we would have to think twice, but as i said the area around it is lovely and peaceful and there are plenty of great places to eat out .

For those on a tight budget, Green Park offers excellent value for money. My studio apartment was spacious, clean and adequately equipped for self-catering. The beds were of the iron bedstead variety and the mattresses a bit tired, but comfortable enough under the clean sheets, although, in such a humid climate, I would have appreciated the peace of mind of an additional layer between me and the odors and excretions of those who have gone before.
Bathing wise, the bathroom featured a full size bath plus a powerful overhead shower, and the water was hot. During my short stay(4 nights), my apartment was cleaned and the towels changed once.
The complex overall, if pretty dated, is by no means delapitated. The staff are friendly and it offers good basic facilities and services. I noticed a laundry on site, plus a reasonable restaurant (not fast food), a couple of cafes, a couple of bars and a fair size pool. For what I paid, I cannot fault it.

Although the self catering room we had was spacious it was very basic and in dire need of cleaning, the furniture had seen better days and if you like a sqeaky bed, this was the place to be. At no extra cost we had a daily early morning call by dogs barking (between 0700-0715) when reported this to reception no interest was shown. It might appeal due to price but I would rather pay the extra money and go somewhere else.

When we first got to the apartments(we have 2 studios, 3 in each) it was after 1am. The staff were nice and friendly. The next morning when we woke up noticed there were no towels in either apartment, no sheets for the sofa beds and in one there was no hooks for the shower curtain. I had to use my hair bands to hold it up. I reported all of these. The cleaners did not understand what I wanted when I asked but she left the sheets and towels when I pointed them out to her. Had to go to reception again about the shower curtain the next day and they said they would get on to it they did write it down. On the third day I went again to report the shower and gave it up as a bad job and stayed with my 2 bands for the rest of the holiday. They only cleaned my studio once all week but did the other one 3 times I thought it was disgusting of them. We stayed half board. The food was warm. My husband did not go to breakfast for the last 3 days of our stay, as it was just the same food greasy bacon, eggs and sausages. the kids had toast or cereal. There are 3 pools 1 big one for the adults the middle 1 for the kids and the paddling pool but my lads 15,twins at 11 and my 9 year old can all swim and did not always want to go into the middle one, and were told to getr out of the big one but then there were other kids and toddlers going in with or without their parents and they were never told off I thought this was not right at all. All in all the weather was great but the hotel it was not up to my standard. Kids loved it though. I also got talking to a lady and she didnot have any plugs for her sinks or shower she was not pleased at all either. Anyway nice place for the price we payed.

Firstly when arriving from the airport which is less than ten mins away from the hotel the signage to the reception could have been better, but once you find the reception there is plenty of parking spaces and the reception it's self ia clean and inviting. Moving on to the room on arrival the room seemed to be clean. The beds were quite basic but seemed reasonable for the price (75.00 euros for four nights). whilst out during the day the maid would clean the room and refresh the towells, but the room cleaning itself was far from brilliant. The pool was big compared to some hotels, And the water was clean but there was a lack of sunbeds which was surprising as the hotel was only half full, for those who like to stay entirely by the pool should look at other hotels. The surounding area had plenty of places to eat at prices to suit all taste, but the local beach was suitable for a maximum of fifty people. The popular beaches at Las Americas are only a ten min car ride away, and the area is served by regular local buses and taxis are plentyful. On the more negative side the airport being only 4 km away the planes fly directly over the hotel all day and all night. To sum up for the price paid could not really fault the hotel other than the rooms could be bit cleaner. I would stay again so cuold not be too bad.

While having stayed in Tenerife before, I had not visited Golf del Sur, so The Green Park Apts were new to me.  Very pleasant girls at reception on arrival, did not give any information, but then we were self catering.  We were given a ground floor apartment, which I wasnt too crazy about. The apartment was sparce to say the least.  Very little equipement, eg cups, cutlery, and one saucepan.  On arrival we found we had no hot water, and put it down to the time of day.  That evening we still had no hot water, lukewarm yes, but not much good.
The apartment we felt could have been cleaner, very dusty, the cubard where the bin was placed was very dirty, and the floor had not been swept.  The bathroom was adequate, at least there was a bath, but it was badly stained.
We saw a notice on the Reception desk at the end of our stay, giving details of all the items we could rent, eg: kettle, toaster, dvds etc.,this annoyed us as we had no choice but to eat out every night, barr one, having only one large saucepan.
The pool area was spacious and plenty of sun beds available. We ate in the Hotel bar one evening, just ok.

On the morning of the third day I had to go to reception to ask would someone take a look at our water, still luke warm.  I also mentioned that I would be more comfortable on a higher floor if it was possible.  We were moved the next morning without any problems. This room was brighter and cleaner.

Very helpful, friendly staff at all times.  Went self catering, kitchen area more than adequate.  Room clean and well maintained. Hotel, pool and garden clean and well maintained.  Plane noise is well advertised so no one can complain.  Very nice bars and restaurants near by and many more only a short taxi drive away.  Hired a car through the hotel but it had very bald tyres so check before you take the car on.  Some noise from kareoke bar on Friday night but finished by 10.30pm.  Overall it was a cheap holiday and we enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed my stay at Green Park.  Although admittedly the apartments were directly below the flight path, this did not affect our enjoyment of the holiday at all, and there were very few flights at night.  I wouldn't recommend the half board option, but there are plenty of places to eat, both nearby and within a very pretty 15 minute walk.  I would defintely return.

We originally ended up at Greenpark from an allocation on arrival holiday and loved it so much we are going back for the fifth time in march 2006.  This is not the type of holiday for someone looking for a mad nightlife with loads of nightclubs because there arent any, but there are a few lovely local bars especially Legends Bar.  Everyone is really friendly and the staff are really helpful.  The rooms are airy and clean.  You can get a taxi outside which can take you five minutes away to San Blas, that is a large square with a variety of different restaurants and bars to meet all budgets and tastes. This is an ideal holiday for older couples or younger couples looking to have a nice quiet break away from the rat race.  Would recommend whole heartedly.

Had a good time at green park room was basic but clean was cleaned 3 times in the week sheets changed once in the middle of the week towels changed 3 times. had a nice balconey overlooking the pool on the 2nd floor, with 2 lifts in the hotel but there were more lifts at each end of the hotel, food was ok as we went half board full english breakfast evening meal was ok a bit cold sometimes but for the money we paid good value. golf del sur is a quiet area but as a couple young at heart in there 40s we had a great time some good bars and resturants within walking distance some lovely views along the coast path a nice stroll.would stay there again great value for money overall. 3 swimming pools middle pool was heated as it was dec the weather was fine we spent 5 days on the beach
the staff at green park were very helpful and friendly and the locals who live in the complex were very friendly to had some good nights in the karoke bar.all in all a good time had plenty of sun sea sand and vodka.

The Green Park is kept clean and tidy there are some good places to eat out, the shop on the site is not very cheap but near by you will find cheaper ones . If you love walking or plane spotting this is the place to go and if you play golf then this is ideal.
The only problem is the Landsdownes bar on a Sunday, Tuesday and a Saturday they have a Karaoke night till midnight and the noise is really bad if you have a room poolside, the management of green park have spoken to them.
The planes make less noise then the pub.
We have been to Green Park 3 times and would go again as the views and area are great. As they say a holiday is what you make it.

I used to live at Green Park as it is part hotel and part privately owned. The rooms are really basic and the cleaners leave a lot to be desired. However if you are looking for a quiet break this is the place to be. The standards may not be fantastic but they are not too bad either. You get what you pay for and the rooms are very reasonably priced. I would stay at Green Park again if I wanted a cheap break in the sun.

Review of 'GREEN PARK'

26 September 2005
A friend and I stayed at Green Park Tenerife for 7 nights. I would not recommend this to anyone. The rooms are very basic and grubby. Our room was at the back and had the road running past it and a view of a wall. The noise for the dust carts coming into the resort in the early hours of the morning was awful, you could hear pepole's conversations because the noise just bounced around due to the fact the place is so enclosed. We could not keep the patio doors open because the room was so hot - no Air Con. and no fan. There was a TV but you have to pay €3 per night (not that we would have wanted to stay in the room for more time than we had too). Although the bedding was changed twice during our stay and we had clean towels, the room was not cleaned even once when we were there. We asked if we could change rooms on the second night so we could get some sleep and our name and room number was written in a book in reception. We didn't get a response so on the 3rd day we went to ask for an update. First of all they had trouble finding any record of our complaint and we had to direct them to the book. We were asked if we had only complained the once!!! We therefore complained again, left a mobile number so we didn't have to stay around the hotel and yet we still heard nothing the whole holiday. The food (breakfsat and dinner) was very poor. I would not serve it to guests at my house! The fried breakfast was REALLY greasy, the bacon burned and the eggs disgusting. The hot food in the evening was cold so I avoided all the meat. The salad stuff was not cold enough!!!!! On the last day we had to store our cases because our flight was not until the evening. We were given a key for the "luggage room" and were shocked to discover it was full of rubbish with flies buzzing around, the roof was leaking and there was a huge puddle on the floor. At this point I flipped, went back to reception and told them what I thought and "suggested" it was cleaned immediately and said they had a cheek expecting anyone to leave their clothes in the middle of a rubbish tip. When we went back at the end of the day it had at least been cleaned up a little. Poor excuse for a hotel and needs some major changes to even bring it close to being worth staying at!!!! Hard not to get personal in this review but then I just cannot bear lazy management to allow this sort of thing to take place and have the cheek to charge people good, hard earned cash to stay there.

Review of 'GREEN PARK'

07 September 2005
When we arrived at Green Park we were impressed by the reception area and the staff were very helpful. We were given a key to our apartment but told to return it to the reception the following day as they needed to get a second one cut. We did this but no second key was cut whilst we were there.

A porter kindly offered to help us with our luggage when we were trying to find our room but unfortunately he got us lost,we would have been better being left to our own devices!!

The room had the bare essentials for a half board stay but the cobwebs had made themselves at home in luxuriant layers prior to our arrival. The creaky beds were not comfortable although the linen was clean.

The foyer to our block was richly swathed in marble but at night several buckets were strategically placed around the area to catch the water flooding through the ceiling and deter us from walking in the deep puddles. We pointed the dangers out to the staff but nothing was done about it.

The food in the restaurant was very basic and as there were no indications of what was being offered it turned into a game of 'guess what your eating tonight'. If you wanted to play safe stick with the vegetables! Fresh fruit was always available and the chocolate pastries for breakfast were delicious.

The pool area was always clean and the gardens well maintained. The main entertainment through the day was plane spotting and at night it was best to have an early lights out just incase they got mistaken for the runway lights (not nice waking up to find a jet parked next to your bed!). The noise could be deafening at times and quite scarey.

We were pleased that our stay was only a short one as we were moving on to another area of the island after four nights. This definitely was not the sort of place that we would have been happy to stay in for the whole duration of our holiday.

We travelled as a party of 11 including the kids in July (very hot). The hotel is large split into two blocks and many rooms do not have views overlooking the pools. The rooms themselves are basic but clean with no toaster, grill/oven or aircon and many without kettles. However, the pools were very clean with plenty of sun loungers and space to spread out. The games for the kids seemed to be a free for all most of the time. There is little to do at night except visit the few bars nearby, which seemed to stay open as long as you wanted, provided you stayed inside, which helped you sleep through the noise of the planes at night.

When we arrived at the Green park we were pleasantly suprised by the friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel. We got into our room and it was very clean and tidy. We had a lovely view over the pool which was well kept and clean. The maids cleaned our room three times in the week also changing our towels etc. The supermarket within the complex was very useful but slightly expensive, undoubtably convenient at 8.15am when you are self catering! The aircraft noise did not bother us although the planes were fairly low it was not intrusive, we were never disturbed in the night! Not a place to go if looking for lively nightclubs and bars but definately go there if you are a couple or family looking for a relaxing break with some lovely shops and reasonable restuarants. The cliff top walks were stunning and very romantic and the place is natural and untouched would definately return to Green Park Hotel! Hopefully next year.

We stayed in the Greenpark for a week after Christmas; we flew out on St Stephen’s day. On first impressions as we drove up the hotel looked quite nice. However this was not the case, the rooms were nothing like the picture on the web site. Firstly we wanted a double bed but we were that they did not do doubles so we made do with the single beds, which were very uncomfortable. All the tiles in the bathroom were falling off the walls. Two of which fell off the wall into the bath when my husband was having a shower, luckily he was not cut. The sliding doors out to the balcony did not lock which was very worrying as we were on the second floor. We reported this to the hotel staff, they were very helpful and polite but nothing was ever done. When we were leaving we were waiting outside the hotel lobby and one of the large metal bollards in front of the hotel door fell over barely missing my foot. We enjoyed our stay in Tenerife as we spent most of our time away from Greenpark; the taxi rank outside made this very convenient. Needless to say if we go back to Tenerife we will never stay in the Greenpark hotel again, this is a 1 key hotel and not 3 keys.

Please don't be fooled by the 3star rating. Apparently this is 3 T's not 3 stars which is not the same. I stayed in these apartments in November 2004. Upon arrival the apartments looked very nice but when we were allocated our room there were cigarette burns in the sofa and rips on the other seat, the walls were filthy and the bedding unclean but the views were lovely. We were moved to another room which was only just slightly better but the view was a wall.
There is an Irish bar across the road and the comedian more or less summed up the apartments by calling them "colditz" and 1/2 a star !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the price quoted it was good value for money. However, I would not have liked to have stayed any longer than the one night due to the location of the actual apartment- overlooking the next block of accomodation and at the side of the access road. The sound of the dustmen at 05.00 helped to break up the monotony of landing aircraft which reverberated through the room.As a plane spotter(honest) I enjoyed the spectacle of reading off the reggies on the underside of the wing during the late afternoon but not at 03.00.
Perhaps apartments overlooking the pool area or gardens(very nice indeed) would not suffer in the same way.             Loved the area and recommend the coast walk into San Blas to enjoy the many good restaurants.

Loads of nice scenery nearby on cliff tops etc.Downside is planes continually flying low over.Hotel runs a bus to las americas and taxi's are available but in the end we prefered to stay local.
