Green Oasis Maspalomas

we had a fantastic time at green oasis.  we arrived in the middle of the night but as it is only a short dive to the hotel from the airport we were in bed in no time at all.  the staff were friendly & we were escorted to our room by the security guard.  the rooms are 2 stories with the bedroom on the 1st floor & a sofa bed downstairs, i loved the fact that our room (& most of them) are situated around the pools, great for watching the kids, whilst you sit on the patio.  the hotel has 3 pools, the main one is heated in the winter & is where all the activities are based.  there's plenty to do for adults, teenagers & young children - the entertainment team were busy all day.  the best 3 euros we spent was on a pair of table tennis rackets for my 2 boys, aged 11 & 12, as they made lots of friends & played table tennis quite a lot.  everyone joined in together even though there was a fair mix of nationalites eg. English, German, Dutch, Spanish. the entertainers spoke in at least 3 languages very fluently, including English, so no one missed out when the activities & evening entertainment were on.  entertainment was a mix of professional acts (singers, snake show, parrot show) & things that involved the audience (competitions, karaoke) the food was nice, plenty of choice, but obviously not as much as you would in a 4 star hotel, but i & my family had no complaints.  the packed lunch they provide if you go on a day trip was very large & consisted of cheese & a lot of meat, such as salami.  we decided to take the pre-wrapped sandwiched from the snack bar on subsequent days out, as we could choose what we wanted.  our room was cleaned very regulary & clean linen & towels provided regualry.  only 2 cockroaches but spray is provided to zap them.  the hotel is situated in a quiet area, but we like walking so we walked into Playa del Ingles ( a very long way, maybe an hour), the dunes (40 mins), the fair (20 mins)however there's a regular courtesy bus to the beach & taxi's only cost about 4 euros to the waterpark.  if you go to the waterpark & plan on going another day you can get this 1/2 price if you book whilst your there. overall had a great time, & so did everyone i spoke to.

Room adequate - certainly not luxurious although showers are great! Food ok for a week but probably would have gone out a few times had we stayed 2 wks. Pools are lovely, a little cold but really refreshing. Staff are mostly ok but a few are really ignorant & miserable...We had 2 teenagers with us & the activities during the day for a 13 yr old boy were good. 15 year old girl got a bit bored although met friends & was very impressed by the Beppe DiMarco look alike entertainment bloke!!! Beach good but streer clear of ticket touts trying to entice you to cheaper internet holiday service, a con & it will waste a day of your hols. No probs getting a sun bed in the mornings although brits out numbered the germans during our week. Lots of cockroaches but they didn't bother us & staff will give you a big can of spray for your room if you need it. Altogether a good family holiday as long as you don't expect luxury, a little isolated somewhat & would have been nice to walk out & about to bars etc for a change but taxi's are real cheap. Entertainment was average although there were only 4 of them & were very good but couldn't have coped with 2wks of it. Would go back, not as bad as some reviews I read before going although found the Green Oasis in Lanzarote was a better location. Enjoy your holiday!!!
