Cheap & Cheerful

Just spent 3 nights at the Grand Union and for the price, you can't really fault it. 33rd Street Subway station is a 2 minute walk and the location is a great base to explore the city. The rooms were clean tidy. However, the decor is dated (patterned carpet, flowery bedspread) but we had enough space and the bathroom was clean - if a little small. You must remember the price is great for such a location and if you planning to explore the city then you cant really go wrong with this place.

Review of 'GRAND UNION'

This hotel was great, it was very basic, just as it states, but the atmosphere is wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and we had maid service every day with a change of towels every day, and they tidied our room and made the bed. They also have computers that are all ready Inernet Ready, so you can pay a small token to stay in touch with the family back home. There is a small cafe next door to the hotel and the food is excellent and the staff are wonderful, very friendly. The hotel is perfectly situated, as it just 2 blocks from the Empire State Building, just 1 block from 5th Avenue so it is quite central i thought, also not far from Macy's which was great, but you need a whole day to go around the whole shop.All in all we had a great time in New York and would definately go back to the Grand Union Hotel and we will be recommending this hotel to family and friends.
