Good Base
27 April 2008
Rated as a 5* hotel - but 4* more realistic.
Excellent position - just off the main square - A1. All you need within walking distance.
Reception staff and porters very pleasant and helpful.
This is an older style hotel - well presented. Room was very quiet - no noise at all from other rooms (just the 6:oo am roadworks but I don't think the hotel has any control over that!)
Breakfast was very nice.
Downsides -
No tea/coffee making facilities.
Room wasn't hoovered all week.
Our particular room was at the back of the 3rd floor which meant using the main lift to 2nd floor then walking right through to the rear of the hotel to the next lift which went to the 3rd floor rear rooms - not ideal.
If you like to watch a bit of telly the only English channel was BBC News 24.
On the last day the checkout was noon sharp - no half hour grace even when asked for!
Overall - I would recommend but don't be expecting modern 5* levels - be prepared for 4* and enjoy yourself!

Weekend Break
10 March 2008
No complaints at all about this hotel. It certainly warranted its five star rating.
Location is ideal and right in the heart of the city. Bars and restaurants are only a 1-2 minute walk and no need for any taxi's.
Staff were friendly and spoke perfect English.
Rooms were quiet, spacious and very clean and well looked after.
I was too hungover to make breakfast, but my two pals that I travelled with made breakfast all three days and they couldn't knock it.
My only negative comment would have to be the lack of english channels on the TV, but who goes on holiday to watch the telly eh????
This hotel is one of the best and I would certainly stay again.
If you did find something seriously wrong with this hotel, you would have to class yourself as a serial moaner/complainer!!!

Grand Hotel Krakow
06 November 2007
The Grand Hotel is situated in a perfect location for experiencing the sights and flavours of Krakow. The Staff are very friendly and helpful, the Receptionist gave excellent advice and guidance on where to dine and wine, she was also very efficient in making bookings for local music recitals.
Our room was comfortable but a little "shabby-sheik",however it was quiet and warm, necessary in early November and room service was good.
Breakfast was fine with more than ample fare I rate it suitable for most people's tastes.
If and when we return to Krakow we would be very pleased to stay in the Grand Hotel.

This is an old-fashioned hotel in a lovely old building in a great location. We were given a room with a bath as requested and the staff were friendly and helpful. The best point about our stay was how quiet it was in our room - we could not hear anything from the adjoining rooms which made for a very restful sleep. Breakfast was fine - we didn't use the restaurant or any of the other facilities.

It's grand at the Grand
20 January 2007
The hotel is in a great location just a short walk from the main square. Surrounded by bars and restaurants.
A very fine hotel beautifully decorated and kept. All areas were spotless and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Great breakfast buffet with a varied choice. We did not try the bar or restaurant but both looked very good, the restaurant was beautifully laid out.
Would recommend this hotel to everyone, great value for money but with 5 star service and accomodation.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The interior design of the hotel is excellent with the Christmas decorations still in place as they seem to celebrate the festive season through to the end of January. Breakfast was very enjoyable with good varied choice. The Restaraunt provided a delightful and varied menu in sumptious surroundings, though with so many great Bars & Restaraunts within 100 yards or so you are spoiled for choice. Room service was very prompt. Downside was that there is no Coffee/Tea making facillities and no trouser press. Television limited to CNN (english) Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for its loction alone.

We all,3 couples, enjoyed our stay and were very happy with our rooms and the hotel in general. The staff wre helpful and friendly and the breakfast good. The only negatives would be that it was noisy outside on the Friday evening at the front of the hotel, but ok on Saturday and Sunday nights and that drinks were expensive.

The Grand is a lovely hotel. I took my Mum there and we really enjoyed it. I knew it was going to be fabulous when the receptionist rang a tinkly little bell to get the red-jacketed bellman to take our bags to our room. It's on old palace and has the most fabulous, enormous stained glass windows along the long corridors. The room was perfect, dressing gown, slippers and a personal little letter, hand-written and addressed to me. Two free bottles of water per day and the usual Satellite television offerings in central Europe...with CNN being the only english channel! The housekeepers all say hello and great service is always there when you need it. Otherwise the staff are quiet and unobtrusive. The location is within walking distance of the main square and we didn't take a taxi all weekend. Genuine old world charm - highly recommend it!
