Gran Ronda

Hotel is in a great location. Close to all sights. Rooms were fine the only problem was that we booked a twin but they only had a double available. We were fine with that tho. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Generally the hotel was clean, comfortable. The location was fine.The room needed refurbishment and the bathroom sink was slow to drain - blocked or a feature of Catalunyan plumbing? There was no extractor fan in the bathroom. The breakfasts were OK but we were a bit disappointed with the machine coffee, even if it was made with fresh beans. The lift was noisy especially in the small hours of the morning. The staff were pleasant in so far as we had contact with them. My wife had stayed there two years prior our visit and thought that things had slipped a little meantime. However, all things considered I think we would return. Anyway Barcelona is a treat of a city.

The Hotel is very clean, great location and the buffet breakfast offered exceptional variety. Our room had only one window which opened onto an interior courtyard. The fan didn't do much good, the room did not cool down at all and you could hear any noise from the lobby during the night all the way up to the 5th floor.

It was a wonderful find, in a very good locacation, everything about the hotel, and the service was very good, we would certainly recommend the hotel to our friends and we would certainly return.

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at this hotel, which we found was only 5mins walk from Plaza Catalunya & La Rambla & central to most tourist attractions. The hotel was clean, bright & welcoming & although our room was not ready (11am) our luggage was stored & paperwork completed efficiently & we were asked to return at 4pm. On our return we found our room to be clean, modern & airy with air conditioning/heating. The balcony overlooked a busy road & we were a little concerned about the noise. However the double glazing cut out any noise & the room was extremely quiet & pleasant. Our only improvement would have been tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The hot breakfast food was only lukewarm but still very enjoyable & plentiful. Staff were very friendly & our stay was very pleasurable. We would certainly recommend this hotel & will be staying here again when in Barcelona.

A really good hotel which was exceptionally clean and it was situated in an ideal place for getting around the city. The staff were warm and friendly and were very helpful in giving us directions, best form of transport to where we wanted to visit, and above all were really good with our ten year old son! The breakfast was really nice with a good variety-even for "picky" children! During our 4 day stay we went for breakfast at various times and always found that there was plenty of fresh food available. We are already planning a return trip!

Hotel in very good location for central Barcelona attractions and at very reasonable rates. We found the staff helpful and friendly awho responded quickly to requests for assisatnce (e.g. broken wardrobe door). Good selction of quality food for breakfast. Key card for access to room needed re-programming every day which was a bit of a pain, otherwise room was fine & comfortable.

Worth its three star rating.

I FOUND THE GRAN RONDA HOTEL IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR MY NEEDS .THE ROOMS WERE OF A FIRST CLASS STANDARD CLEAN TOWELS EVERYDAY.BREAKFAST WAS GOOD WITH PLENTY OF CHOICES.RECEPTION VERY GOOD BOOKING IN AND OUT WENT VERY SMOOTHLY.AN EXCELLENT CHOICE OF HOTEL FOR A SHORT STAY.

Very clean, modern accomodation in an excelent position and within walking distance or a short metro ride to most attrations. The Hotel is situated between two metro stops and their is also a bus stop opposite the Hotel. We found the Hotel staff very helpful and friendly and able to answer questions on various locations, also the free internet in the reception area came in handy for looking up details on public transport etc. Our room was cleaned daily and towels replaced daily, the big plus we also found was the fact that the breakfast was served up until 11am! Plenty of time to sleep of the sangria from the night before!! We'll definitely be staying here again.

I have just returned from a three night stay at the Gran Ronda. I booked through Alpha rooms and the process was excellent. I even received a refund under their price promise as I found it cheaper on another site.

On arrival at the hotel (2pm)the room was not ready. Our luggage was stored for us and we were told to come back about 4pm . I had emailed the hotel prior to request a room with a balcony. The receptionist showed me my email and said that it would be allocated for our return.

However on our return when we checked in and went to the room it was an internal room, with no direct light windows and only a window which opened directly into the lift shaft. I went back to reception and was met by a very rude receptionist who told me they allocated the rooms on check in and could not guarantee rooms. I explained that when I arrived at 2.00 pm the correct check in time, the room was not ready and at that time was told that they had received my email and would be able to accomodate my requests. After a heated debate she changed my room. Once in the room, I was pleased it was a nice size, shower only, and a window with balcony.

Breakfast is not worth the extra at 11 euros, service was slow and food was not replaced regulary. It is served until 11.00 am however by 10.00 you have a limited choice and no refills.

An enjoyable stay, however the rude receptionist ignored us for the length of our stay. I requested an iron and iron board and I am still waiting for it.

I would stay here again,only if I get written confirmation of a road facing room, the location is central and the hotel is worth its 3 stars. some staff need to go on a good customer care course.
