Review of 'Gran Melia Volcan Lanzarote'
26 February 2007
The hotel room and basic service was was excellent and lived up to a 5-star rating. We had one or two minor gripes that were particular to our room location which was no.466 which suggest you avoid if offered. The room was next to the security gate that led to Servicio Real, so the noise of the gate shutting could be heard everytime someone went through. Not so bad during the day, but not so good if you wanted an undisturbed lie-in or an early night! Also 466 is next to a laundry room (as are some other rooms) so the noise of many trolleys and staff chatting in the early hours could also be annoying.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. We tried one restaurant for an evening meal our first night, but rated the service to be slow and the food, although 'interesting' was both overrated and over-priced. We preferred to eat in Playa Blanca where restaurants offered fresh caught fish and generally better quality food and value.
We'd go back again for the basic room quality, and general peaceful environment of the place (bar the noises mentioned!), but not really for anything else.
