Gran Castillo

Have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. 5* prices without the 5* service would be our overall impression. At checkin we were left sitting in the reception area while the less than friendly reception staff busied themselves behind the desk for at least 20 mins. Breakfast buffet was decent and some of the waiters were friendlier but getting a smile out of some staff was an achievement. The pool area were beautiful and spacious and never appeared crowded. The room was good but having paid for a sea view room we were a little disappointed that we had to crane to see it between a neighbouring shopping centre and noisy childs playgroound of some sort... perhaps we were just unlucky. The marina is a lovely walk away but over all we were disappointed with the quality of the restaurants.

We were a little concerned about this holiday due to the hotel  only being open for approx three months. No need to have worried, booking in was a breeze and the hotel exceeded our expectations.  The hotel is bright, airy and spacious, lovely pools, plenty of sunbeds and sunshades.  The buffet restaurant was excellent, plenty of choice, quality and service good. The A la Carte restaurant was excellent, the food and service were a delight.  Our room was a junior suite overlooking the sea, decoration, facilities and housekeeping services were great. The staff was eager to please and are clearly working hard to maintain the 5* standard.  Playa Blanca is still under development so the necessary infrastructure in the locality is not quite there yet but that did not detract from our holiday.
