Value for money
16 September 2008
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we find it good value for money.
The hotel is basic and can be a bit noisey at times but the staff are friendly and helpful the breakfast is good and adequate. Its a little way to walk to the main street but once there it has an excellent bus service around the town and district.

The only bad review here?
16 September 2008
I know, I know the Goya is a 2 star - so you get what you pay for right? This review pretty much goes against the grain of the majority here but felt compelled to have our say after a recent one night stay.
On a positive note - the staff were friendly and helpful, the complementary breakfast selection was good and plentiful.
BUT, the air conditioning did not work and being on the top floor was extremely hot and made sleeping very uncomfortable. The room itself looked like it had not been modernised since the 1970s.
We tried using the fan instead of A/C to find it was made of heavy metal and had a severe wobble which made us scared to use because of it potentially falling.
The room itself had an odour of nicotine (not great if you are non-smokers) and the net curtains which should have been bright white were showing signs of tobacco staining.
All in all if you can stomach it for a quick one night stopover fine, but wouldn't advise any longer.

goya hotel
07 September 2008
goya hotel in aliicante just came back 5/9/2008 stayed for 5 days the hotel is clean and staff friendly we got there at 21.30 around the hotel it was very dark very little open 1 or 2 tapas bars , the rooms are very small more like a small hotel room but clean so ok.the breakfast is very basic but you do get a drink tea coffee eg.ha ha the next morning went out very different the place was very busy mostly spanish not many english spoken people, the beach was a bit of a walk but the beach and the marina are very nice. i found the bars very expensive the cheapest pint around was 7 to 8 euros (for 2) but by the front (beach) alot more, meraconda a supermarket is on the same street as the hotel worth going, watch when you go in to a 24hours or shops to buy a beer or a can of pop you pay double if its in the fridge,if you go the meraconda the bags of ice there are 90cent so its better getting the ice or fork out double money for your drinks also wine is double so get the ice,(meraconda beer 6 to 8 euros for 24) back to the hotel clean and yes would stay again for short stay

Good Budget Hotel
15 July 2008
Excellent budget hotel. Decent breakfast, pleasant staff. Bathroom basic but clean. 5 minutes walk to Mercado tram station (tram takes you cheaply and efficiently to resorts between Alicante and Benidorm), about 20 mins walk to beach/marina. Loads of eateries everywhere. Little shop and supermarket are nearby. Would recommend to friends and would go back myself.

Great hotel!
22 April 2008
The Goya is a great little hotel! Near enough to walk to everything in Alicante and dead easy to get to from bus from airport. Was slightly noisy but that didn't bother us and the breakfast was a good bonus!

Value for money
04 April 2008
The hotel is relatively close to the airport. Like others I found this convenient and good value for money. I recommend this if you aren't looking to stay in the hotel for long, i.e. just to sleep and get changed. I did find it noisy at times but for the price definitely value for money and I would stay there again.

Not bad at all
01 April 2008
I'm just back from a 3 night stay in Alicante during Holy Week. The Goya (I don't think the painter of the same name stayed here) was very convenient for all the festivities but a bit of a walk to and from the beach. Bed and breakfast was good value with a very varied breakfast spread. Bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. The only downside was the view - or lack of it as I overlooked the interior "courtyard" which blocked out any sun. That being said, it was good value and a useful base to explore the town.

A Real Find
16 March 2008
My daughter and I stayed at the Goya for a week and were very satisfied with our choice. The hotel is really good value for money, conveniently located, clean, with a good breakfast and very helpful staff. On the downside was the noise level in some of the nights - try to get rooms away from the lift/staircase. In March there were 2 building sites in the same street, but work started only at 8 am and the noise was tolerable.

Stopover at The Goya
01 February 2008
The Goya is situated in a quiet backstreet of Alicante, 10 minutes walk from both bus and train stations. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes walk to the more lively area of town. But Alicante town centre is not touristy and everything is closing down towards midnight and closed by 1:00 am.
The Goya is a two-start hotel and you get what you pay for. A small, clean room with a bed, small TV (no Sky), and pokey bathroom.
The hotel structure is typically Spanish so the corridors echo and the whole hotel hears someone close a door loudly.
As a stopover, the value for money is excellent and, as a low cost centre for sightseeing, the value would be supurb. The room rate normally includes a continental breakfast which varied and plentiful. I have now stayed at the Goya on 4 occasions that I have passed through Alicante and have had no complaints.

REVIEW OF 'GOYA'
17 September 2007
Stayed at the Goya for one night 7th September '07. But that was our second stay this year. In my view this hotel provides excellent value and a good base for exploring Alicante. Our 1st visit was in April and we went for the Half Board option. Dinner was excellent with enough food in the starter to fill a hearty appetite. Subsequent courses were also excellent. For our second stay we went for the Bed and Breakfast option. We wanted to explore the restaurants of this beautiful city. Breakfasts provided during both stays were excellent. Rooms were adequate with excellent Air Conditioning Facilities. I would not hesitate to stay at the Goya again. I would doubt anyone would find the excellent services and food provided for the same price in the UK.

Review of 'GOYA'
22 February 2007
Any review or opinion of the Goya, must be set against the fact that it only cost us £13.93 per night, each, including breakfast - you get what you pay for. The room was very small, but spotlessly clean, even maid service on Sunday. The jewel in the crown is the snack bar / restaurant. We had a different meal every night and they were all home cooked Spanish meals and excellent value, we didn't pay more than €20.00 including drinks !! The worst thing about the hotel was the noisy guests running about and shouting until gone 2 am. But as it was so cheap you have to expect a lot of young people who are not as considerate as they should be. I probably wouldn't stay there again as I would prefer to pay a bit more and have a quieter stay, but we enjoyed our stay overall.

The Hotel is on the North side of the shopping centre so not too easy to find initially. Excellent location for shops, market and castle. For the price the Hotel is well worth a stay. Our room was clean. Fortunately both myself and my daughter are quite slim so we fitted nicely in the shower cubicle not so good if you are more rounded.

Review of 'GOYA'
03 April 2005
I used this 2* hotel as a 1 night bed and breakfast stopover in March 2005. My party consisted of 2 adults and 1 child. We were given a double bedroom. A nice point was that my 9 year old daughter was not charged for even though she still had a breakfast.
LOCATION: Conveniently 10 to 15 minutes drive from Alicante Airport and only a few minutes walking distance from restaurants and some nightlife.
STAFF: Friendly and helpful.
HOTEL: Very Clean but very dated and definitely needed refurbishment. Little annoying things like buttons missing from aircon so it couldn’t be used. TV only in spanish. Carpets on landing worn to the point of tripping you up. Restaurant was only area that didn't look dated. Even my 9 year old daughter commented "this is definitely a low class hotel". Only the breakfast warranted a 2* rating, otherwise I would have suggested a downrating.
BREAKFAST: Excellent buffet breakfast - limited choice but what was there was delicious. The largest croissant's I have ever seen and very, very fresh. If I went back I would be looking forward to those croissant's.
GARAGE: The Goya has a locked underground garage holding about 12 or more cars. It cost 7 euro a night at the time of my visit. Very useful because street parking is very scarce. However, be aware that it is very narrow and very difficult to manoeuvre once inside even with my small Fiat Punto. I would not have liked to attempt using it with a larger car.
REPEAT VISITS: I would use the Goya again for a night or two stopover but would be prepared to pay a little more for a better quality hotel if staying longer in this beautiful city.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Taking into account that we had 3 excellent breakfasts this was GOOD value for money.

Visit - February 2005 2 people over 50
The Goya is in a good location and rooms are basic but clean. Our room was across the street from a college, but we did not experience any excessive noise or activity.
Catering is limited and I personally would stay on a room only basis next time, with many excellent eating places within a 5 to 10 minute walk.
If you have a car there is little chance of finding free parking in the city centre. Parking is available in the Goya underground car park at 7 euros per day.
Reception staff were very helpful with good English, it is advisable to have basic Spanish to enjoy the city. Rooms and bedding were well maintained by the chambermaids.
Not for you if luxury is what you are looking for or you want to spend time relaxing in and around the hotel or in the room.
The Goya provided good value as a base for exploring this busling and lively city.
