Very enjoyable !
09 September 2007
Just returned from another fantastic holiday at the Golden days . I am not even going to bother waffling on as I think all the reviews you read ,wether it be on this site or another says it all . The staff at the hotel are fantastic and as a family we love the village of Afandou. To say it would suit people of a low budget is a laugh . I can asure the person who wrote this ,that WE ARE NOT on a low budget and also holiday many times a year .However we find it hard to find a hotel , ship , etc with staff that are as friendly, hospitable and just genuinely care like these guys do . As a family we range from 11 years old through to my mum and dad in thier 70's, we all truly enjoy it and always look forward to going back no matter where we have been in the world !We haven't experienced any noise, all I can say is maybe we have hit lucky in the rooms we have been put in. My mum and dad however are always on the ground floor and they haven't had any problems either. The thing to remember is ,your in Greece and if you haven't booked 5 star you won't get five star . The rooms are basic , the village is a working village, the sunshine is always glorious and the staff are second none. On top of all that Rhodes is a beautiful island and is easy to get around .

golden days
30 August 2007
nice studios, clean, basic nothing special, after reading the reviews i can say i was a little disapointed. staff were nice but arn`t all greeks the same been going to the greek islands for the last 28 yr`s.the food was nothing special, but the place is cheap, at the end of the day you get what you pay for. i find this place the noisiet i have EVER SYATED IN. THE ROOMS ARE IN A TERRIBLE POSITION, at night i mean at 2.30 in the morning you can hear all the guests who return time and time again, chatting ,why to come back to this place all the time i don`t understand as there are some beautiful islands/ beaches/ villages which are a lot more seanic than here and with lovely sea views,.the place is fine if your on a budget, as this was our 4 th. holiday this year we couldn`t complain, but would be so, if it was our only one.

Golden Days Hotel/Studios
29 July 2007
We have just returned from another great fortnight at the Golden Days in Afandou, this being our third visit, but it was the first time we have travelled independently and received a great deal with Alpharooms. The air conditioned (local payment) studios are quite basic but adequate and extremely clean with bins emptied every day and fresh towels and bedding every other day.
Most of the guests there have stayed before which means that you are likely to meet old friends but this isn't surprising as the staff make you feel very welcome and part of their family. Carol on reception is always ready to help, Lambros and Yiannis behind the bar always find time to chat and are great entertainers throughout the day and night, around the pool and at their Greek, Karaoke and Quiz nights too. They also go out of their way to ensure that you have a warm welcome and departure.
Prices for drinks and food are very fair but if you want to get out and about there are many other places to eat and drink in the large village of Afandou where you will make more friends and be spoled for choice.
Go and see for yourselves what a friendly place it is - I can guarantee you will want to go back again and again just like most of the other guests.

What can I say................
27 July 2007
Our third time at Golden Days, it is like going home, the staff all remember you from previous visits and are so helpful. It is a fantastic place and the staff cannot do enough to help, I reported a problem as I went out one evening and it had been fixed when we returned. I have stayed in a few s/c hotels in Greece and they are all the same in regards to utensils and pans you get the basic utensils, after all who wants to cook a 3 course meal. We have just returned this week (July25) and temperatures were in the 40's but the air conditioning was fine and soon brought the temperature down. I would go there anytime and hope to be back again soon.

29 June 2007
Just got home from a fab holiday in Afandou the golden days studios were one of the best studios I have been to.The room was kept clean by Irene and what a good job she does. Carol on reception couldnt have been any more helpful and all the guys who work very hard to entertain everyone. I will most definitely be back to the golden days.

Review of 'GOLDEN DAYS STUDIOS'
24 September 2006
Where do I start?! I originally booked 2 weeks at Golden Days without knowing much about the hotel at all - which is why I'm posting this review as you all need to know how amazing it is!
Golden Days has something for everyone. If you're going on holiday for a relaxing time, then this is the place for you. Golden Days has one of the best pool areas in Afandou with plenty of sunloungers to accomodate. There's a poolside bar, which if you've had enough of the sun, you can go and try a cocktail or have one of Golden Days legendary milkshakes made by Lambros (or Nikos - if you really want to make his day!) If you get peckish, then just move to their restaurant where Yiannis will wait on you hand and foot until you're stuffed (which isn't difficult for not only is the food gorgeous, the portions are also massive!) If you're planning a day's excursion around the island, then go and see Carol on reception whose knowledge for trips, train and bus times etc is incomparrable to any rep I've ever met.
So after a day of sunbathing, cocktails and food - where do you go? well I have to admit, I'm not one for staying around my hotel on holiday, but it's difficult not to at Golden Days as it has so much to offer. With Greek nights, Quiz's, Karaoke and Bingo there's usually something going on most nights, and if not, then there's plenty to do around the village with restaurants and cocktail bars just a stones throw away. And if you're planning an early night? then you have no reason to worry as the hotel has a quiet noise policy after its events so everyone can get a good nights sleep.
Considering I originally chose this hotel because of its value for money, I didn't expect it to be anything but ordinary. How very wrong I was. This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at... and why? Because its not just about the nice decor, the clean rooms and the air conditioning. It's about the staff, who are some of the most hard-working, entertaining and funniest people I have ever met.

Review of 'GOLDEN DAYS STUDIOS'
18 August 2006
We wanted somewhere in Afandou as we know Rhodes very well and wanted to be centrally located. we chose Golden Days as had best review we could find on Holidays Uncovered. booked independantly and was very cheap. The hotel is very English the staff nice and excellant english speaking, very friendly and helpful rooms - very very basic. i dont think you could do any self catering. only one teaspoon, and one fork. one very large pan and a frying pan. fridge clean. 2 rings to cook with but really didnt bother to try. poor i would say if you want to self cater. ok if not which was us...we only used the fridge. snack bar cheap and did good breakfasts. beds comfortable. air con was rubbish and we had to resort to leaving it on all evening and night. the problem being that the electric was turned on by your key fob so in order to do this we had to leave our room unlocked. was the only way to keep cool and this was a little hit and miss at times. i will say that they did try to get it better but i think just very old - like the whole place - and not much could do. pool nice garden in front of hotel ok to sunbathe long way from beach but little train could take you if wanted. we hired mopeds, as usual, and went off to Kalithea beaches which are fantastic as no sand - just big rocks to dive off into sea. not good for kids. Hotel was a bit UK for us - full of manchester folks with chicken and chips, bingo, quiz and kareoke not our style. but very cheap the way we booked. Afandou - noisy town good restaurants but dont think will stay there again. but good location for what we needed Alpha rooms - easy to book with no probs. just got independant flight(very cheap) and taxi to and from airport - good as avoided the transfer buses and the crush at the airport. overall not for us but ok if just want to sleep as we did, apart from the air con being so rubbish. wouldnt go again but probably good for some.
