"The Golden Beach Hotel" has just grown like topsy, with bits added as the resort of Hersonissos has grown. Nevertheless there
is plenty of public space within the hotel, and the rooms
are fair enough for the package holiday market. But I think
a three star rating would be more accurate than four. A little
overpriced compared with smaller hotels, but obviously they can take a plane load of package deal tourists. The "golden beach"
I'm afraid is 25 metres of dirty sand at the rear of the hotel,
however there is a good long clean beach 10 minutes bus ride east, and a kids' park and watershute just 5 minutes walk away,
and small bays just beyond. Fast food is everywhere and cheap,
and the two small supermarkets are very good value compared to
hypermarkets in the cities. The Manager of The Golden Beach is
very professional and obliging. The lift at his hotel is rather noisy for those with rooms close by, but all-in-all a good hotel to accept as part of a package, but independent travellers should look elsewhere.
