I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Front Maritim. The trip was a post GCSE treat for my 16 year old daughter (and me) and I have only positive things to say about this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms modern, clean and air conditioned (which was lovely to come back to when temperatures outside were touching 30 degrees). My teen was made up with the free internet access in the lobby which meant she could keep in touch with mates back home and the complementary water is a nice touch - there are no in room kettles. We found the location just right as it was a good class residential area and we felt totally safe going out in the evening and after dark. The restaurants and cafes in the area cater for the locals rather than tourists so prices were more reasonable than I had expected. The Diagonal Mar Centre has lots of choice for shopping and eating and is open till late. The nearest metro station is a 10 minute stroll away and will get you to all the main sights in 15 - 20 minutes. The beach is a few minutes walk but take your own beach towel as there aren't any loungers to hire. We made use of the hotels safe deposit box facility which saves the worry of carrying passports and all your cash / cards around all the time. It's free but you do need to leave a 30 euro deposit (refundable) for the key to your box. I would recommend making full use of the city's excellent public transport - airport train and metro in particular and the T10 ticket is great value and can be used on both. There is so much to see in Barcelona that 5 days just wasn't long enough and when we go back we will certainly be booking the Front Maritim.

Our hols
26 July 2008
We liked the hotel interior and the rooms were lush, the beds were really comfy and the shower worked really well, but tended to overflow if running for a while. The water was available in the morning but tended to be empty in the evening when we needed it most after some heavy wine drinking. Tea and coffee facilites would have been good but not available unless you paid for them. The staff were mainly helpful apart from one women who offered to find out for us how to get to Fugeres to see the Dali museum but said that there were no trains or she hadnt looked. After we went to the train station ourselves we found there to be lots of trains that ran regularly!!! We found her a touch rude and unhelpful. The hotels position is off the beaten track which was good and easy to get into the center on the tour bus - better if you dont like getting the metro service and nearer. Overall we had a lovely holiday with a comfortable stay that could have been improved by more useful staff and stocked up water fridge.

Impressed and Good Value
16 July 2008
I recently stayed in this hotel with three friends on a mini 'hen' weekend. We had 2 twin rooms booked via Alpharooms and I must say all the bookings including hotel, airport transfers worked like clockwork. Its a good location if you like being away from the huhstle and bustle of the city, but close to the beach, the metro and a shopping centre. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are friendly. This hotel stands out from others by offering free bottled water on all the floors and free internet access from the hotel lobby. We did have a bad experience with one of my friends having her money and passport pinched whilst on a sight seeing tour of the city, which did put a damper on an otherwise great weekend. The city is beautiful in terms of sight seeing and architecture and I would like to go back here. If I do, I'd be more than happy to stay at this hotel which was clean with friendly staff.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel 3 times. The location is ideal for the beach and the nearby shopping centre is a bonus. The metro is a short walk away. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are friendly. This hotel stands out from others by offering free bottled water on all the floors and free internet access from the hotel lobby, which is ideal if you quick need to check your emails or the weather. I will be going back here again in Sept - can't wait. Love Barcelona.

Very Impressed
25 June 2008
Really impressed with this hotel, from the setting very close to the beach, to the swish interior and good staff. Breakfast really good and great to have water readily available. Rooms are smallish but really clean and comfortable and quiet. Able to leave bags securely outside check in/out times which both useful and reassuring. Would definitely stay here again.

Well...
21 June 2008
The hotel is very modern and this was nice, but the decorations, especially in the breakfast room and the Reception area are a bit too strict and monotonous (read monochrome). The room was a bit small for 2 people (and for the 4 stars level). The bed was comfortable, the bath nice and very green. :-) We had a room with sea view which meant the window (no balcony!) was facing the Ronda Litoral Avenue, a bit noisy in the morning.
The breakfast buffet was nice and various, only the glasses were inappropriate: wine glasses that did not fit the juice dispenser (I broke 2!).
I tried to check my e-mail in the lobby, but the free Internet connection was very slow, so I gave up.
In the last day we discovered (the hard way!) that the guy at the Reception has no idea how to go to the El Prat airport from the hotel, except the cab. He suggested changing from subway to train in a station where trains don’t stop...We were lucky that we had enough time to find out our way in the Metro stations, even if the people and the Metro personnel did not speak any English!
All in all, I think the hotel is OK (very nice location!), but a bit too expensive for the services offered.

Even better than expected
20 June 2008
First time that I have used alpharooms but was very impressed with how easy it was and with how much information was available.
The hotel was very clean and modern. An excellent shower in the bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. The bed was extremely comfortable. Only down sides to the room was no lock on the toilet door (part of the design) and no iron in the room. However the room service was good, the location is perfect for a holiday, right on the beach and a seaside walk into the town centre. The metro was easy to use and if you get the ten pass ticket it is extremely cheap.
Definitely recommend the hotel for the price!!!

A Stylish, Contemporary Stay
26 May 2008
The hotel was much bigger than I had imagined - but far more sylish and elegant. Beautiful wood and art works set the scene
.The rooms are smallish, but the marble and glass ensuite - great. The hotel is opposite the beach which is white sand and good for swimming; but it is an urban setting. We had lots of grey and rain over 3 days but still had a great time. A taxi ride can vary a lot in price to the Olympic Port or the Older parts of the city ranging from 7 - 20 euros, so bonning up on some Spanish could be very useful.
We had a great time clubbing, the drinks are expensive but huge, remember one short is more like 5 english shots. . so it can be easy to drink too much.
Booking with Alpha was a very interactive and a good internet experience. Although Front Maritim is well out of town along the coast it's a great place to return to for some chill out time, especially with such great access to the beach.
The Sauna, Gymn and Steam room are small but well put together.
We felt very well catered for and could not believe the level of the accommodation we were buying for our euros.

Front Maritim
19 October 2007
My husband and myself have just returned from a three night stay in the hotel Front Maritim. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful with directions and maps etc.The hotel itself was spotless throughout, and rooms were on the small side but very clean and bed and pillows were so comfortable. The blackout curtains were brilliant as we didn't wake up too early. The bathrooms were very modern with a brilliant power shower.Breakfeast buffet was very good with a huge array of hot and cold food and plenty of fruit and pastries.Bus and metro very close and taxi rank nearby.Diagonal Mar shopping centre just a few minutes walk from hotel, where there was a good selection of restaurants. This hotel was very good value and we would stay in it again.

29 August 2007
Lovely modern hotel, very clean, the bed linen and towels were changed daily. Friendly, helpfull staff. The hotel is close to the beach and Diagonal Mar shopping complex, a 10e taxi ride to the centre of town or you can get the bus just around the corner. The hotel provides free mineral water with fridges on each floor. Would not hesitate to return.

FRONT MARATIM
15 June 2007
A group of us stayed here for 3 nights, we found everyone at reception very helpfull, though food would be much apprieciated after travelling, there was non in the evenings. The staff were helpfull with, transport, nightlife, and eating information. the rooms were clean and fit for purpose, the only thing missing was tea/coffe making fascillities. if a hot drink was needed it had to come via room service, although this was prompt.
The hotel's location for Port Olympia and Las Ramblas, is perfect, just a short taxi drive to both, try Olympia if you want good sea food. take a camera when visiting las Ramblas During the day, the steet artists (Human Statues),and entertainers are brilliant. Our party would definately stay at this hotel again, though we would bring a kettle!!

good looking hotel but a bit impersonal seemed like you were wandering around an airport lounge breakfast was good and varied and finished quite late.Location altough opposite the beach was a minimum 7-10 euro taxi ride into central Barcelona, also reception was very vague on saturday evening on arrival when asked if there were any restaurants nearby, walking distance, said no and had to get another cab at 21.45 back into the city!!on exploring the next day there were at least six places within a two minute walk!perhaps she thought we couldn't manage local establishments how wrong!they were great!

Hotel Front Maritim Review
10 March 2007
We spent 4 enjoyable days in Barcelona, staying at the Front Maritim. The hotel reception staff were very helpful, the breakfasts were good, but do not have the evening meals in the hotel. We had one meal there, the food was cold, and not particularly exciting and also expensive for what it was. There are plenty of restaurants within a short distance from which to choose. The bedrooms are narrow, but the beds are very confortable. The bathroom en suite did not have a bidet, which was rather disappointing. We did notice the traffic noise on the first night, but after that we did not notice it. We asked for sea view rooms and got them, which was nice. The free water, available from fridges on each floor, was also very much appreciated. Apart from the evening meals, we were very satisfied with the hotel and would use it again if we wanted to return to Barcelona. We bought a two day ticket for the Tourist Bus and found that good value for money.

Hotel Maritim was an excellent hotel, staff were friendly and spoke english and the food was good, drinks were very reasonable. The hotel's position was good, just overlooking the sea. The hotel rooms were very nice but very small, although the power shower was fabulous. Overall an excellent minimilistic hotel and would stay again!

Review of 'FRONT MARITIM'
24 January 2007
The Hotel Front Maritim was a well presented 4 star hotel overlooking the sea and a short walk from the metro (underground) giving you access to all of Barcelona. The staff both at Alpharooms (Abi particularly) and the hotel were very helpful and particularly so as I left my mobile phone in a taxi the hotel had phoned for me. On returning to England I contacted Alpha Rooms who contacted the hotel who contacted the taxi firm and managed to track down the driver who handed the mobile back to the hotel!! The hotel is sending it back to me in England (awaiting delivery as I write this!)

Review of 'FRONT MARITIM'
24 November 2006
Visited Front Maritim on business during November 2006. The hotel staff were pleasant and efficient on checking in and remained so throughout the week. You will be asked for a card imprint and a copy of your passport will be taken.
Peak times for breakfast were a little stressed as tables were not cleared quickly enough and a queue quickly formed - avoid the 8 o'clock rush would be my advice - also not helped by only having a two slice domestic toaster... good selection of cold/continental items for breakfast, the hot selection being restricted to bacon, sausage and scrambled egg (and toast if you could wait that long).
Free wired internet in the rooms with wireless available in the lobby/business area (and any rooms it strayed into). Again peak times were a problem and connection was lost several times - having said this, the hotel was full of techno-geeks there for ITForum, so probably an unrealistic view of the system.
Rooms were modern, neat and clean - although noise from the nearby main roads was clearly audible, especially the sirens... 4 large fluffy pillows and a comfy bed made for a good nights sleep however.
Bottles of water freely available from a fridge on each floor were a nice touch along with a full complimentary kit of soap, shampoo, shower gel, razor, toothbrush etc.
15 minutes walk from The Forum so ideal for the conference, about 10 minutes from the metro so the centre of Barca was very easy to reach.
I would definitely use this hotel again for conferences in that area.

Review of 'FRONT MARITIM'
20 November 2006
The purpose for staying here was to attend the CCIB conference centre. This hotel is ideally situated for that being just a 7-8 minute walk away. Access to the city centre is via a 10 min Metro ride. The Metro station is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The room was smaller than I was expecting but fine for the limited hours that I had to spend in there. It was very clean in all respects (as was the whole hotel).
The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. There was free internet access (both wired and wireless) and also a plentiful supply of FREE chilled drinks on each floor.
Although there was a good choice of items for breakfast from the buffet, I did feel that service was lacking. There seemed to be a problem putting out plates, dishes, glasses, spoons etc. This happened every day.
I had a good view across the seafront from my 6th floor room BUT this also ensures that you hear all of the noise from the major road that runs between the hotel and the sea. From 6:45 every day, there was a dawn chorus of motorists testing out their car/lorry horns on the regular traffic queues.
All in all, a good place to stay (even with the traffic noise) and somewhere I would use again.

Nice hotel - close to the beach. Really good breakfast - lots to choose from. About a 10 minute walk to the metro station, then about another 10 minutes into the centre of town. Room size was ok for one - walls were a bit thin, and not all the advertised tv channels were working. There isn't a minibar in each room - just a communal fridge on each floor with unlimited bottled water. More a 3 1/2 star hotel than 4. Would recommend it and would stay there again.

A very pleasant and clean hotel. Very friendly staff from reception, cleaners and restaurant staff. The option of having free sauna use and steam bath was a great idea. The hotel rooms was a little small but very nice. The bathroom door doesnt have a lock on it so beaware if you desperatly need a toilet.
We stayed in room 1107 and the view was very nice, overlooking the sea. There is a main road outside but it was never busy so it was very quiet. Im sure you would enjoy your stay.

The rooms are quite clean although notunlike most rooms I´ve stayed in the customary bathroom hair was present. Its something that hotels of all stars seem to have a problem with; however onthis occasion this was most likelyto be the cleaners.
My tip for getting to this hotel is take the bus into the centre of town and then hail a taxi the rest of the way. The bus costs around 3 euros and the taxi 10. Its easyto do and if indoubt just ask the driver when you get on the bus to tell you when to get off; I went on instinct and was fine.
The rooms are small by anyones standards lol.. You could swing the proverbial cat in it but it may get a bloody nose. The shower is good and the comp water is ideal. The staff on first impressions are great and very helpful.
As others have said the tourist bus stop is close by juct come out the main entrance and turn left and then left again to the side street and its a few yards along from there.

The location is right by the ocean, and not too far from the metro station. Beware coming from the airport. Take a taxi and it will save you a lot of headache. The train from the airport takes multiple transfer, so you should take a bus to the Centre and then a taxi, or a taxi direct, which cost approx €30. The rooms are not big, yet not small... at least compared to european standards. You must use your room key to activate the power, which luckily my friend advised me of this. There is ample closet space and shelves to store personal items. I was in room 1125 and had a wonderful view of the ocean. The streets were quiet and peaceful, and always had a good night´s rest. The bathroom was spacious and the hotel gave you a terrific bathroom kit with toothbrush, soap, shampoo, comb, razor, shoe horn, and a sponge for cleaning your shoe? I am not sure what the sponge was. The hotel provided breakfast, but not sure if it is based on alpharoom or the hotel automatically gives breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of options. Hot eggs and bacon, variety of juices (pineapple, orange and more), variety of breads and sweets, cereals, cold meat platters, fresh ftuirs and more. It was a buffet so you could eat at much as you please. The hotel was only 10 minutes metro ride to the centre, and in the summer if you are taking the Barcelona Hop off-Hop on tour bus, the green line stops right near the hotel. It was about 3 blocks to the metro station Selva Del Mar. A+ to the staff and to the hotel. I only wished they had an alarm clock in the room, but thats ok too!

29 November 2005
I gave this hotel 5/5 because they made my nerve wrecking weekend go without a 'hitch' (excuse the pun, but read on). The reason I took my girlfriend away to Barcelona was to ‘pop the question’ and ask her to marry me.
After looking at various hotels which offered a romantic sea view I chose the Hotel Front Maritim because of its location near the beach. I booked a room through Alpha Rooms, because they produced the most competitive price and no other company could beat them. This also meant I was able to spend more on the engagement ring!
Our stay was made memorable because the room had an excellent sea view (I had requested this through Alpha Rooms on the day of booking), the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was entirely fulfilling catering for all tastes and preferences. There is also complimentary water and we received a box of chocolates on the day of our arrival. There are also a wide variety of complimentary toiletries including soap, shower gel, shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste and even a ‘ladies kit’ with a sanitary towel and make up removers!
All in all our stay was perfect, and by the way she said YES.
