What our customers say
The Hotel is modern in style, rather functional but not unattractive. There is lift access to all floors, activated by your room key. There is also a spiral staircase, which I used as my room was only on the first floor. The breakfast room is large and becomes a “Belgian Beer Bar” in the evenings, which also serves food. Although the bar was well frequented, I encountered no rowdy behaviour during my week’s stay. The Hotel lobby is manned 24hrs so returning in the early hours presents no problem.
As a frequent solo traveller I've endured many a dark and dingy single bedroom tucked away in an attic space or a basement. This was not the case with FREYS. Despite the room number, 101, the room was light and airy, with en suite bathroom and was well laid out. If I were to fault it, it would be the limited wardrobe space and lack of a room safe. In addition to the obligatory mini-bar (no alcohol) there was television and an internet access point. I found the room pleasantly quiet and sensibly heated so I slept well.
The self-service buffet breakfast was extensive and well stocked and available from 7:30 to 11:00. There was no problem with second helpings or extra coffee if you wanted it. All the lobby staff spoke excellent English and were helpful. My room was adequately cleaned and fresh towels provided daily.
In many European cities, the area in the immediate vicinity of a major railway station tends to be rather noisy and sleazy. This is definitely not the case in Stockholm. Although not the most attractive part of Stockholm, I felt quite safe to return late at night and was never accosted by drunks or beggars. FREYS hotel is a very short walk from the Arlanda Airport express terminus and within a few yards of the ‘Centralen’ Underground station. It is located in a quiet backstreet “Bryggargatan” which brings you to “Drotningsgatan”, Stockholm’s major shopping area and pedestrian precinct. The old town or "Gamla Stan" is about fifteen minutes walk away. The hotel's location is perfect for a traveller who seeks convenience rather than a ‘room with a view’.
