25 May 2008

Well equipped, room had lovely little alcony looking ove the square. Fresh towels both days and quiet, for being nea the middle of everything. Staff helpful. Would definately go there again and recommend to others.

Like home
13 November 2007
I've stayed at the hotel a couple of time's before on charter basis. This was the first time I've booked flight, accommodation and car hire separately. Of course I choose Florida as I've always found it familiar and homelike with a staff that's doing all they can to help me with small or big questions. Even tough they're not to skilled in speaking English they are doing there best. Nice, clean and average equipped room's So, because of that, my wife and I everyday coming back from sun and beach, when reaching Florida says: Like home.

Convenient Florida
17 April 2007
My Mum and I stayed for one week having booked via the net. We found it clean, with friendly helpful staff. It was a twin bedded apartment adequately equipped with an excellent bathroom. The location of the apartments was my main reason for picking it and it was extremely well located 100yds from the bus station and the beach and ten minutes from the town centre, with a well stocked supermarket next door. I would certainly return and would recommend it to a friend.

Review of 'Florida'
12 December 2006
My first night was not good. As a single traveller I was given a room without a balcony, in October it was unbearably hot. I couldn't open windows or leave the heavy curtain back as I was overlooked by apartments opposite. The sofa was decidedly scruffy and I threw a blanket over it to hide the dirty marks. The following day I asked to be moved, was initially refused, but after insisting I was referred to the owner who agreed to let me change rooms. I was given a lovely room with balcony and sea view. The room was comfortable, clean, airy and cleaned daily. The mattresses must have been updated because they looked new and I slept very well. The location is ideal, very near the bus station and handy for Charco Square and the beach. There was no air conditioning and I borrowed a fan from some friends. It would be useful if one could hire a fan from the hotel, as I needed mine constantly. I am about to book again for a January hol. So, watch this space.

Review of 'Florida'
12 October 2006
Just returned from staying at the very friendly Florida Apartment's yet again. We have been visiting them every year for the past 10yrs, and are more than satisfied with the accommodation and the very friendly, helpful staff. Its not the Ritz, but everything you need is available, even to a small swimming pool on the roof. The staff keep the rooms and facilities extremely clean, towels and bed linen changed every other day if not every day sometimes. It is a very small hotel, and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The reception is open 24hrs, and will accommodate your every need at all hours. The Florida apartment's are situated 2mins from sea, 2mins from main bus station and has a supermarket next door open 9.0am - midnight, so no excuse to run out of supplies. We will be back again next year definitely. Fully recommend these apartment's, but don't expect luxury, just a very comfortable friendly apartment with everything you might need.

Review of 'FLORIDA'
13 February 2006
I can only echo the previous reviewer. We were there February, 2006. It is a 2 star apartment, clean and acceptable with friendly staff. Only problem for us was the hard beds with thin mattresses. The continental breakfast didn't vary but was OK. The location was most important - no hills to climb and only a few minutes away from the bus station (buy a bono bus card for 12€ OR 30€ for half price fares - the fare is deducted from card each use). To the left is Playa Jardin and a very pleasant walk with just a few cafes. To the right is the town, quite commercialised with souvenir shops, English/German pubs etc. Overall, a good 2 star apartment in a convenient location.

Apartamentos Florida ... not to be confused with the hotel of the same name!
30 September 2005
This is a two key, self-catering establishment. My son and I selected it online for a number of reasons, cost, location and facilities. I was not disappointed. The hotel itself is clean, well run and well serviced. The rooms are comfortably large and very adequate for two adults plus perhaps one small child. For three, or two + an adolescent, it would definitely be crowded! The kitchen area is adequate .. two-plate cooker, small fridge with freezer and sink. Plenty of cupboard space and crockery & utensils. Bathroom is excellent.. clean, well equipped (toilet, washbasin, bath, shower, bidet, good hot running water, big mirror, drying rack and shaving plugs.) I was on the fourth floor, with a view to the sea 100 yards away. The balcony comfortably contains a table and two seats. The rooftop pool (small but adequate) and the wide sunbathing area offers a pleasant way of 'desalting' yourself after an afternoon on the beach. The real advantages however lie with the location. Across the road and straight down Calle Pozo leads you to the town centre in ten minutes. Turn left and cross the road and through a narrow passageway and you have three very good beaches ( five minutes). Instead of taking the passageway, turn left again and in ten minutes you are at the municipal market.. where a 30 proof spray suncream costs 10 euro instead of 17.5 at downtown prices. Indeed, for such a small town, prices vary vastly according to whether you are in the centre or not. In the Playa Jardin area (where we were) prices are lower, people are chatty and friendly .. because it's a mainly Spanish speaking residential area, and there are plenty of pleasant, inexpensive restaurants. I have no idea what the hotel restaurant was like.. there are so many places to eat in P de la Cruz, mainly priced between 7 and 10 Euros for a good meal (add a a few Euros for booze), that it would be a pity to tie yourself down to a pension or demi-pension. And the Molly Malone Irish pub and the German owned Burro Loco bar should not be missed! As for the Restaurante Tropicale on Calle de Lomo, if you like seafood at reasonable prices you will probably eat there many times! I could afford this by saving save money thanks to the self catering and the lower cost of foodstuffs in the municipal market. The hotel service was good, polite desk staff, helpful room cleaners (when I mentioned the frying pan was a bit pitted and food got stuck, they brought me a brand new one in five minutes)
