Great value for money

20 September 2008
We had 4 nights B&B at the Expo which at less than £200 for both of us was great value for money. All the write ups we had read about the friendly staff, the excellent breakfasts and the location were true. Yes the rooms are basic but they have everything you need for a city break, they are clean and well serviced. The hotel is ideally located for accessing the many sights of Valencia either on foot, by metro, tram or bus and is very easy to get to from the airport. Valencia is a wonderful city and we will definitely visit again. Also recommend a day out at the beach and a visit (by train) to the town of Sagunt for the castle and roman ruins.

Terrific hotel but some excessive extras

18 September 2008
Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff - clean rooms, nice buffet breakfast, fantastic views from the rooftop terrace/pool area, good location about 20 mins walk to the old town, 3 mins from metro and handy for getting groceries at Corte Ingles next door. The only reason why I'm not awarding 5 stars are the excessive charges for laundry and wi-fi access in the rooms (E2.5 for 1/2 hour). Valencia itself is a terrific city - beautiful old town, lovely beach 20 mins from the centre, lively nightlife in Barrio del Carmen and great value ceramics in suburb of Manises.

Fantastic Hotel

13 September 2008
Having stayed the previoius 3 nights; as part of the Tomatina Festival Tour package, at the "NH Centre Hotel" (which is literally a two minute walk away) it was a pleasant surprise to have the fantastic service we received through our entire seven night stay at the hotel Expo! A complete contrast & unbelievably cheaper than our original hotel, what a bargain! The positives go right from the friendly & helpful cleaning staff right through to the front desk staff, all were friendly & very, very helpful. The room we had was perhaps a little tired in the decor but the shower was fantastic & the room was always kept clean. The Breakfast Buffet was excellent, the choice simply amazing! Value for money this is the place to stay in Valencia, I really can't praise it enough. Manuel at the pool bar was an abslolute star & has our thanks for putting up with us, if you stay make sure you go up to the roof & see him, say hni & buy him a beer while watch the locals below trying to park their cars in the street below I guarantee you will smile :-)

Expo brilliant

05 July 2008
We stayed for 3 nights with buffet breakfast, which was great. The hotel is just outsidethe city centre about 15 mins walking or 1.30euros on the metro. We liked the fact that there is an excellant shopping centre " Nuevo Centro " actually attached to the hotel with a metro stop " Turia " underneath. Please visit the restaurants and bars around the Plazas near the Cathedral where the food is exquisite. Look at " www.metrovalencia " this will help you find the correct stops etc. it can be a little confusing on your first visit. At the Expo you can sit outside and have a drink brilliant stay.

Expo Hotel Valencia is a Good Choice

15 June 2008
We stayed at the Expo Hotel for 4 nights in June 2008. It is a good choice as it provides good value with excellent facilities and good service. The breakfast buffet is impressive. Rooms are well equipped and clean with plenty of complementary goodies in the bathroom (replinished daily). There is a Piano Bar on the ground floor and a roof top open-air swimming pool with a pool bar which is open in good weather. The pool is open May - October from 11.00 a.m. - 9.00 p.m. daily. Getting to the hotel couldn't be simpler. From the airport take the metro to Angel Guimera (Lines 3 and 5) and then change one stop onto Line 1 to Turia. The hotel is next to the metro station. Purchase a book of ten tickets 8 euros 75 which can be shared by more than one person and is much cheaper than single tickets. Alongside the hotel is quite a large shopping centre with several cafes and bars as well as a good selection of shops. Request a room at the back away from the main road. Lots of restaurants in the old town - a 10-15 minute walk through the park. Visit the Aquarium and perhaps take the tuorist bus to Albufera to visit the nature park and El Palmair a typical small Spanish town. Enjoy!

Stayed 3 nights at Expo Hotel, excellent value for money, hotel is in a central location with plenty of shops and amenities nearby, the bus stops right outside the hotel and the metro is nearby. The bar in the hotel also reasonable 3 euros for 2 glasses of wine, the staff on reception where very helpful with directions and information. Breakfast was great, offering a wide selection to suit all. looking at returning to Hotel again this year!!! Most enjoyable!!!

Arrived via a short taxi ride from airport. Check in was super quick and efficient. Reception staff very friendly. Rooms were of a good standard. Requested rooms all close together as we were a group of ten girls which we got. Breakfast was fabulous! Piano bar excellent to start your evening off and end up in. Would definitely visit again!

12 May 2008
Really good hotel, friendly service. Accommodating to hen / stag dos without letting us run riot!! Breakfast was amazing - so much choice and restaurant dinner was delicious. Only one issue and that was that the bedroom doors never closed quietly - there was always someone closing their door and you always heard it. Other than that -well worth the money.

RETURN VISIT TO EXPO HOTEL

10 May 2008
We stayed at the Expo Hotel in April 2008 and returned there again in May.Can recommend the hotel as it is clean and well-managed with very helpful staff.Breakfast is excellent and the bar well run and not over-expensive. Hotel is easily reached by metro or taxi and buses stop outside to take you around Valencia.

Excellent Hotel, Facilities and Location

01 May 2008
One of our friends recommended this hotel and they were absolutely right to do so. The suite we were given was spotless, sheets changed daily and thoroughly cleaned. The breakfast was a food lovers delight, everything from hot food, cereals, fresh fruit to cold meats and fresh pastries daily. The location was fantastic. Only a 15 min walk into the old quarter where you can find an abundance of typically spanish restaurants serving paella's and tapas. If you really prefer it there is also McDonalds and Burger King. We used the Metro on a daily basis to travel to the beach, which took around 20-25 mins. For around 1.8 euros return or buy a travel card for around 8 euros, you can travel all over Valencia. We took the 150 bus from the airport for 1.10 and it stops directly outside the hotel after about 45-50 mins. The beaches at Neptuno and El Saler are not to be missed, they are absolutely superb. The all you could eat buffet in the hotel restaurant in the evening for 15 euros was amazing value, dishes such as chicken, paella, rabbit, lasagne, cold meats, cheeses, pastries, salads etc etc etc too much to mention. We are definitely looking forward to going back and would love to take the children. Can't wait!!!!! excellent value for money, location, facilities etc etc etc

Week in Expo Hotel

17 March 2008
Stayed for a week in Expo Hotel. Paid 65 € dbl room which was worth it. The shopping mall behind the hotel makes is it a very practical stay (open 10-22h) The lower level of the mall has breakfast cafés in the morning sun (2€ coffee+croissant),burger and restaurant. The hotel breakfast 11€ is buffet and is very good with fresh fruit etc Very good connection with metro and bus station beside the hotel. Connection with metro to the beach and airport. To the city center you walk 10 min to Old Quarter - 15 min to Placa Reina (cathedral) Rooms in hotel are clean and have everything except hair dryer Mini Bar tv wifi Enjoyed my stay in Expo Hotel and would recommend it to the budget traveller.

Value for money

21 February 2008
Alpha Rooms - as always very efficient and easy way to book good hotels at the best prices. Breakfast - super choice and very good quality, reception area and bar 3 star but rooms really do need a revamp and would only rate 2 star. Great value though if travelling on a budget. Behind Hotel is great shopping centre and huge Corte Ingles (dept store). About 15 mins walk to town centre. Turn left and walk over bridge over old river bed. Meander thro the old back streets - so beautiful - unexpected little squares and fabulous bars and really good quality restaurants at brilliant prices. Travelling from airport ? Easy - get Metro 1.20 euros(Line 3 or 5) and change at Angel Guimera to Line 1 and get off 1 stop later at Turia. Hotel is just to right as you emerge from subway. Don't miss the L'Oceanografic - 34 bus from town centre - 1.20 euros. Magnificent !! Try to pop in the Mercado Central. Building is superb and the food displays incredible - be prepared for some surprises - massive display of animal noses for sale !! Stall holders very friendly and helpful. Recommend Sardiniera restaurant by the Cathedral is fab.Try fried sardines - so fresh. Cheap as well - also try the fine house red. Thanks again Alpha Rooms. You have come up trumps yet again - great to see that we can now book flights with you. Alpha rooms are certainly 5 star - have recommended you to all my friends.

Great Value Hotel

07 February 2008
We read the previous reviews before choosing to stay at the Expo - and they were spot-on! The rooms were clean, you could adjust the thermostat -so we weren't too hot - (the temperature was 19 at the beginning of Feb). The position was excellent - handy for the metro, buses and taxis, just next door to a shopping centre, with basement supermarkets for water, snacks etc.No kettle in room,so bring your own .(no hairdrier either!)Within easy strolling distance of the old town - stop off at the University Botanical Gardens for an oasis of greenery and calm - not to mention lots of resident cats! Then contrast it with hustle and bustle of the central market .The main reccommendation though is the food - breakfasts were superb, with an amazing variety of both hot and cold foods - sweet and savoury. We also had an evening meal in the reataurant.Very reasonably priced and very good service.Staff friendly and helpful.Would stay again.

NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER

21 December 2007
I can only endorse the previous reviews. My husband and I (sound like the queen) stayed at the Expo in December. City obviously still buzzing. We stayed for 7 days but still found it was not enough time. There is so much to do and see. The older buildings blend beautifully with the newer. The walk through the Turio Park (the old river bank) dropping off at various points of interest is enjoyable whatever the weather. The Expo is a lovely hotel (especially pricewise). We were room only so can't comment on the food, although we did look in on the restaurant and the food looks very well presented. Pool closed - so can't comment on that either. BUT.. the location of the hotel is brill, central for everything. Buses, trains (we went to Benidorm for the day -2hrs by bus. Enjoyable scenic journey). But also excellent for walkers. 20 mins to town centre (10 through the park). 40 mins to the beautiful beach/harbour area. Staff were very helpful and friendly, when we could'nt make ourselves understood for train journeys the receptionist would write down our questions and it helped enormously. We are definitely going again later in the year and we would definitely stay at the Expo. The only thing I would say is learn a little of the language, the people are so friendly and want to talk to you - it would be nice to hold a conversation. No matter how limited. Gratias.

Wonderful value for money! Hotel is in a good location. Metro stop outside the door as well as taxis and buses. Close to the city centre. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. Fresh food and juice and a great variety. Good value restaurant. Helpful and friendly staff. Rooms adequate and clean. On a main road but great insulation on windows. Almost silent in room with window closed. However, if you are on the main road side, very noisy with window open. No temperature control inside room makes this a problem. However, with the cost through alpha rooms, it's a great deal.

Great choice of hotel

08 November 2007
We stayed in the Expo because we had an early flight to catch and didnt fancy the hours journey to Valencia airport. The staff were excellent and arranged a picnic breakfast for us because we had a 5 am departure. The room was more than adequate because we had three adults and thought it may be cramped but there was plenty of room. the location excellent only about 10 min stroll into town. The taxi only cost 17 euro to the airport. Would definately go back and possible book a two night stay because Valencia is a lovely city.

Excellent location - the bus from the airport dropped us right outside our door all for 1.10euro. The buffet breakfast was more than enough and they served fresh orange juice. Lots of shops on the doorstep. A 20 min walk into the old part of town which is asleep during the day but after 10pm comes alive until the early hours. The restaurants were excellent did not have a bad meal anywhere. The people were very friendly. Lots of clubs for the younger generation. Would definitely stay here and visit Valencia again.

Fantastic Hotel

18 September 2007
We spent 5 nights at this hotel starting on 6th September 07. Hotel is very nice, spotlessly clean. Rooms cleaned every day, beds made up and fresh towels daily. Lots of lovely extras in bathroom. Tea making facilities also in the room. Room also had mini bar which was great for keeping drinks etc cold. Lovely swimming pool on 12 floor with great sunbathing area around it. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout. Breakfast was good with a fair enough choice. Had dinner on two nights in the hotel - one night was a buffet the other was a la carte. Excellent location with bus stops for the beach and town outside hotel. Taxis were cheap. All in all, it was a very nice experience and I would certainly recommend it and will also book again whenever we go back to Valencia which is a wonderful city.

An Excellent Choice

11 September 2007
Most impressed with the hotel considering the cost, I E-Mailed the Hotel direct to request a quiet room and we got exactly that, on the 10th floor at the end of the corridor. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Location good, the No 2 bus stops outside the hotel that goes to the beach and the No8 just around the corner outside the Bus station that takes you to the centre in the evening. Check the taxi fare before you get in, 20 euro to hotel from the airport on arrival and 10 euro back on departure ??? Also charged double one night from the centre. Would highly recommed this hotel

Great value and location

13 August 2007
Although not in the centre of town, this hotel gives great value for money, excellent communication links to both city and beach ( bus and metro station within 50 metres). Breakfast buffet very good with plenty of choice. Rooms are very clean with towels changed every day by very efficient room service staff. Pool ok but can be busy and does not open untill 1pm. Evenig buffet at the hotel is great value (13 euros) with plenty choice of both hot and cold food. Certainly more 4 star than 3 star

Exellent Hotel

30 July 2007
This was our 2nd stay at this hotel which we rate very highly. However as this time our stay was the end of July we found that the room air-conditioning struggled to cope with outside temperatures in the low 90's, in addition there are no sun-shades round the rooftop pool which exposes one to excess sun if you are not careful. However our opinion of the hotel, staff, facilities and food have not changed. Excellent and particularly good value for money!

We stayed for four nights. The hotel was better than we had expected. The location was excellent with a metro stop right in front of it. Massive supermarket and shopping complex were also very useful. The rooms were basic but very clean and included a mini bar that was useful for cooling things. Exellent Hotel

06 May 2007
We only stayed 2 nights but rate this hotel very highly, particularly when considering the cost! Although a city hotel, the transport links with taxis, buses and Metro are exellent and very cheap. Unlike some of your reviews this is NOT a no-smoking hotel except in the public areas, we were asked if we required a smoking room. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, providing information and directions as required, and for a 3* hotel in Spain to provide tea/coffee facilities in your room is becoming very rare indeed! I must mention the breakfast, I have never (even in higher rated hotels seen such a choice of fruit (tinned or fresh), cold meats, and cakes layed out for breakfast. The hot choice was mushrooms, scrambled eggs and typically "Spanish bacon" which I could give all spanish hotels a lesson in how to cook. All in all however an exellent hotel that I would not hessitate to recomend, provided you do not require a sea view!

Brilliant

24 April 2007
This hotel is like a five star, breakfast is the best in any hotel we've stayed in, staff very helpful, location is 6 star. its possible to go to the beach for the day on the No. 1 bus takes about 40 minutes. The metro goes all the way to the airport metro stop outside the hotel, also next to a huge shopping complex with a very cheap C & A.

Location is fab (train and bus stops no more than a few seconds walk from the hotel entrance). Rooms were clean and spacious, though depending on which side of the hotel you are own, it can be rather noisy with the traffic (ask for the shopping centre side). Friendly staff who knew really knew the best public transport routes to take especially to the Americas Cup port. There was plenty of cold variety food for breakfast, though I was expecting Spanish omelettes to be made on order (but that was wish for thinking!!...orange juice was tasty and fresh). The only other downfall was the service speed of checking in and out.

Excellent hotel for a short break

21 February 2007
An enjoyable experience. Hotel clean and with efficent staff. Breakfast, which was included in our package, was excellent. We had dinner in the hotel each evening and enjoyed choosing from a varied and appetising menu. The dining room staff were all very courteous despite being very busy most evenings.
The hotel is in a good location with a 20 minute walk into the City centre. The area is well supplied with public transport (including a bus to and from the airport for 1.05euro).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking clean comfortable accommodation with an abundance of good food and service from friendly helpful staff.

stayed in a triple in august 2006.bit cramped for three, but you don't spend much time in a room anyway,& the location within walking distance to the city centre made up for it.swimming pool on the roof was great as well.hotel getting a bit old now & might suggest you skip breakfast or eat out,as late comers don't get a great selection.
great for shopping as well as el corte ingles & lots of other shops right beside the hotel.
bus outside hotel also took you straight to the beach.
another plus was finding the hotel easy to locate when coming in by car.

We also caught a no 95 bus to the beach still only 1 euro 10 cents each way. Book B&B as the breakfast is fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Taxi from the airport was 16 euros & from out of town at night (after midnight) 5 euros.Plenty of restaurants close by but go into the city for atmosphere & huge choice. hen weekend at the Expo

04 July 2006
After heading to Valencia for a relaxing weekend with the girls I found the Expo great value for money.  The room was cleaned daily and was a decent size including a good shower.  The roof top pool had plenty of sun loungers and the breeze and views were fantastic with temps reaching well into the 80's!  We found the reception staff great and they helped us find our way around.  The bus stops were right outside and only 1 euro to the beach and taxis were reasonable and the rank was outside the hotel.  The shopping centre is 2 minutes away with a good supermarket and nightlife only a short taxi ride away.  Would definately recommend, very Spanish and authentic Valenica was great!!

The EXPO Hotel is great value for money and in an excellent location for exploring valencia. There are bus stops outside the hotel and  metro stops beside the hotel too. There is a great shopping complex beside the hotel and a selection of restaurants. The central bus station is around the corner to venture further afield. The multi day passes for the bus and metro are excellent value and allow you  to travel across the city. The oceanographic and science museum are good value if you buy a combination ticket 24 euro,s for both.  The hotel on the roof is a sun trap , and a nice escape. The hotel is clean , spaceous , and the staff are only too pleased to help you with any questions. The breakfast is brilliant.*****

Review of 'EXPO VALENCIA'

06 May 2006
The Expo Hotel is a good quality 3 star hotel in an ideal location for public transport into the city and to and from the airport.
In detail the hotel was clean, with a good choice for breakfast and helpful staff throughout. The hotel is located on a complex which has a very large shopping centre with plenty of café’s and restaurants to hand.
You can avoid expensive transfers to and from the airport by staying at this hotel because there is a service bus Number 150 yellow, that terminates its journey just round the corner from the hotel from the airport. It goes around the houses a little but in April 06 it only cost 1 euro per person each way instead of a taxi around 16 euros each way.
Across the road from the hotel red buses  60 and 62 take you into the city and nearby the hotel a bus 1 or 2 will get you to the beach. The central bus station is five minutes from the hotel and from there you can get to just about anywhere in Spain.
