Excellent hotel
27 May 2008
On arrival, the man at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful as we had an earlier problem on our arrival in Krakow. The accomodation we were given was larger than we expected and had views in two directions over the square and old synagogue. I was a bit unsure before our arrival after having read a few reviews about the breakfast. Usually in 3 star European city hotels, ham and cheese are normally available with bread with other hot options on display. However , i think that Hotel Ester try to make something more of the breakfast by giving the whole salad range. One morning when we were earlier for breakfast because of an excursion, the display of the spread was an amazing arwork. The menu card states that the chef prefers to cook hot meals to order to remain fresh and it is no trouble to ask for whatever you would like. The staff understand English well so don't let that put you off. On the last night we decided to take advantage of the 10% offer for the restaurant and very good it was too. On the extensive menu there were a variety of foods and prices to cater for all tastes. The tram stop was just along the street and was two stops into town. We opted for the Krakow card (2 or 3 day options) so we never had to worry about travel tickets. I would use this hotel again if i returned to the city.

Excellent Hotel
09 April 2008
After booking this hotel we had a few queries, such as the view from our rooms and excusions from the hotel. I decided to email the hotel to ask if all three rooms that I had booked could have a view overlooking the square and if they could give me some details on the trip to Auswitz. The hotel emailed me back very promply with the answers. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms we had were all very spacious, warm and spotless with everything we needed and with a view over looking the square, which was worth it. The breakfast layed out at the hotel was continental with lots of choice but you could ask for bacon and eggs of any kind if you wanted it and this was no bother to the staff. We also ate there on one of the evenings and we must say that we all thoughily enjoyed our meal and it was very well presented. Jokingly we asked for discount when we received the bill and was given 10% discount plus 10% everytime we eat or drank at the hotel thereafter. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel and was only a 15 mins walk to the main square. This Hotel is well worth the visit, we loved it and will definetly stay there again. Thank you to all the staff at the Ester Hotel for helping to make our stay just brilliant.
P.s The trip to Auswitz is worth going, your'll need to allow 5 or 6 hours for that and the resturant on the opposite side of the Ester hotel, is worth a visit, I think its called zsara, try the set menu, its delicious.

short stay-4 nights
06 April 2008
The hotel is in the middle of the Jewish district so it is a lively and busy area during the day but relatively quiet at night. So a good nights sleep was never a problem. Rooms were clean, food good and beautifully presented. Staff exceedingly polite and helpful. Interesting authentic Jewish restaurants to eat in with live music both at the hotel and other restaurants. Easy to walk into the main square. Local tours bookable at hotel and are excellent. Enjoy your stay!

This hotel was absolutely brilliant. The staff were both knowlegable and friendly. The weather was -10 and returning to the heated hotel at the end of the day was a pleasure. The food was lovely presented and we could not fault our stay and would definately recommend this hotel.

GOOD BUT
20 November 2007
The hotel was ok, found that the room we booked had two single beds and we had reserved a double, no big deal, so we were promoted to a smaller loft room with double bed, which had single bedding sheets. So the comfort was 2 star.
The city is beautiful and the locals very sweet so best of luck and enjoy the place and people.

Excellent Hotel/Location
16 September 2007
Our first time in Krakow and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is situated in Kazimierz the Jewish district and fronts onto the square. The hotel rooms were spacious, well decorated and very clean. Breakfast was laid out as a cold buffet but when we asked for bacon and eggs and an omelette it was no problem. The staff were plesant and helpful. There are numerous places to eat locally and the food was very good and excellent value for money. 10 minute walk to the castle and 15 to the main town square. Would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

Excellent value
09 July 2007
The hotel is situated within the jewish district of the city, there are numerous bars and restaurants nearby. A 5 minute walk away there is a market square and this is really buzzing wiyth life on an evening and at the weekend. hotel Ester is about a 15 minute walk from the main town or 10 -15 PLN for a taxi. Visit the roosters restaurant for massive portions of ribs and other dishes at really reasonable prices. I visited as part of a stag trip and recomend this hotel to anyone - it was pretty quiet when we were there and the staff were very helpful.

Long Weekend in Krakow
09 May 2007
We are two well travelled couples in our fifties. We had doubts about the Ester because it was a little away from the Rynek Glowny. Our doubts were misplaced. If you want to appreciate Krakow this is the place to be and this is the hotel to stay in. Although our room faced the rear of the hotel onto other blocks and we had no view, our friends faced the square – luck of the draw I guess. Even so, the rooms were spacious, and well furnished, the shower was powerful and effective and the bathroom immaculately decorated and a good size. We arrived well before agreed check-in time but were able to get into our rooms immediately. The staff were always helpful and attentive and the breakfast was plentiful and varied with something for everyone, even though it was a cold buffet. The food and service were excellent and all in all this was a good hotel in a great location surrounded by many restaurants to choose from and away from the noise and possible aggravation which may be attracted to the City Centre in the evenings. It is a 20 minute walk to the Rynek Glowny but we did that every day one way or another and took that in our stride.
Although our rooms were serviced daily and towels changed the cleaning of the room was not ideal and the floor was not cleaned each day with a vacuum cleaner, something our friends noticed as well. Nothing is ever perfect, this was not a significant issue and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were equipped with a safe (no charge) and a hair dryer. The ‘cool box’ was no substitute for a fridge though and there were no tea/coffee making facilities (although we were self sufficient in this anyway). We would go back there if we ever revisited Krakow.

Review of 'Ester'
13 November 2006
Great location, within walking distance of Wawel Castle, Old Town and Kazimierz. Very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Hotel rooms comfortable - if a little too warm - and clean. Breakfast was good. Used a local guy for trips to Auswitz and Salt Mines organised through the hotel and both were excellent value. Would certainly recommend to friends and family if they were contemplating a trip to Krakow!

Review of 'Ester'
14 October 2006
The Ester is located 15 min from Krakow's main centre. It offers clean spacious rooms with courtious friendly, helpful staff. Meals are fantastic, offering a wide selection. The breakfast is well worth going to with a variety for all tastes to choose from. After a tiring day of sightseeing, live tradional music relaxes as you dine. The area is quiet and steeped in Jewish history. This is a place I would return to and highly recommend.
