Es Ravells D'or Reviews

We stayed at the Es Ravells for two weeks at the end of May/beginning of June. These apartments were great for what we wanted and what we paid for. Our 1 bedroomed apartment was spacious and clean and we had a great view of the pool and bar area. The entertainment on a night was good and our son who is 8 especially liked it and the children's entertainer, Becky. Cala D'or itself was lovely with great beaches and a good choice of shops and restaurants. However, with the beaches been small bays, I would think that there is a struggle for space in high season. I would not hesitate to recommend both these apartments or the resort for a family holiday.

We have just got back from Es Ravells 1 week in 1 bedroomed apartments, we had 2 apartments next to each other as requested. We are a mature couple who went with our daugter (40) & grandaughter (22) so had a mixed range of ages. Stayed 16th May 09. We all had a fabulous time, the apartment was block 6 - 2nd floor overlooked the pool & entertainment area, Tribute acts every night, Four Tops was my favorite, Britiney & Freddy Murcury for the younger 2. The staff were ace so friendly sad to say goodbuy to Jaun the waiter he was so nice & attentive. The rooms were basic but clean fresh & well decorated, basic on equiptment but kettle ect could be hired at reception (why bother when a pan boils nearly as quick) IT SO ANNOY`S ME WHEN PEOPLE PAY FOR 2 STAR & EXPECT THE LUXURY OF 4 STAR. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. These apartments are so central for everything shops bars beach all just a 5 minuet walk. We did not fined excesive noise after midnight. The pool was cleaned at 7-30 - 8-00 on a morning the whole outside area at the same time (I watched from the balcony while waiting for the pan boiling) then drinking my cuppa. The sheets were changed on our 3rd day the towels evey other day along with the apartments. We had no little kids with us but those who did could relax knowing they were in safe surroundings. Will deffinatly revisit later in the year as we need to see more of Cala d`or.

We stayed in September 2008 and had a good time. However, when we arrived they only had one room available despite having booked two! We were able stay with our in laws till a room was ready the next day but this put a spoiler on things. To be fair the staff did accept they had made a mistake an offered us alternative accommodation at their sister hotel Club Martha's but we accepted free safe deposits box’s, kettles & toasters instead. That put aside we a good time however, these apartments are in the middle of everything and hence it can be noisy. While most outside entertainment finished at midnight the karaoke bar nearby thumps away till gone 2 AM and is overloud. If you like to be in the action then this is the place to go. Entertainment, restaurants, bars, shops etc right on your door step literally! The rooms are fair sized clean & bright rooms with everything nearby. If you are looking for peace and quite unless you sleep during the day I would suggest you stay somewhere near the edge of the resort. Everybody seemed friendly in the resort and we even made friends with our German neighbours! This is a nice family type resort and we felt safe out and about in the resort at all times. Apart the dirty sun loungers which need replacing by the pool and the mistake with our rooms on arrival I think these were our only real complaints. You can even watch the evening entertainment from your balcony. If you have young kids in bed, this place would be ideal as you can nip over the road get some drinks, then watch the shows from your balcony with your kids tucked up safely in bedroom.

we have been going to cala dor for the last 5 years so know all the good places to stay and dine,i was not very happy with the hotel as it was very basic and you do not even get a kettle or toaster as standed you can hire them from the front desk. the hotel can suffer from ants and lots of them if you are on the lower appartments,if you choose to stay then i recommend you get a one bed appartment as i made a mistake of getting a studio this was very small and you had to sleep on what i would call a bench !,as there were 3 of us they provide a camp bed my back has still not recovered. The good thing about them are they have aircon in the rooms and some other hotels do charge for this service but at es ravells its free. the entertainment from the tropical gardens it good and if you like a good karaoke bar then go to the holywood bar for some top class entertainment. in the resort centre you will have no problems finding anywhere to eat as there are hundreds of bars,if you like a good english breakfast the go to the dumpling, dave and his wife margret are very welcoming and do top grub at very good prices,if you are feeling brave have a go at his mixed grill in the evening and see if you can finish it

Great location, apartment basic but clean however i would like to point out that there was no kettle or toaster however it was possible to rent them at a small cost. There are lots of bars and restrants and the entertainment every night at the resort which was tribute bands including, Abba, Spice girls, Westlife etc. Great for families and young groups because of the location.

We've just returned from a short break at the Es Ravells Dor. We had a great time. The resort is just right for families or couples who want great food, nice surroundings and bars/entertainment, but not loads of nightclubs and lager louts a la Magaluf. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was a reasonable size, with small kitchen/dining area, good sized bedroom, two sofa beds in lounge and a great sized balcony which got the sun from midday onwards. Our apartment overlooked the pool and entertainment area, but we spent most of our time exploring and eating out, so the cost of hiring basic self catering stuff wasn't a problem for us. The apts are very central to everything. 2 mins walk from the main resort centre, with shops, bars and eateries on the doorstep really. 5 mins gentle walk to Cala Gran beach and 10 mins in either direction takes you to the Marina or the Cala Esmerelda end of town, although there is a little train that you can hop on for 3.5 euros if you prefer not to walk. All in all we thought the hotel was great value for money, central, friendly, with a great pool and entertainment area if you fancy it. It was nice and relaxed with plenty of sunbeds etc (we went in June) although I think it would be very busy if you went in high season. We'd definately go back!

Cala Dor is ideal for families and couples as there are plenty of bars and restaurants. We stayed at Ravells Dor for the first time this year. As there was only 2 of us we were given a studio which was very small but clean with a large balcony area. We were disapointed with the price of having to hire out the basics such as a toaster and kettle, which I thought should have been supplied as we went self catering for the 2 weeks-in total in costs us about 100 euros with the safety deposit box. Majority of the staff were freindly and helpful, especially the bar staff around the pool area. The pool area was large and evening entertainment was very good. I would suggest however if you do arrive in the early hours of the morning you have water and snacks with you as the supermarkets will not be open and reception do not provide anything for you-even the drinks machine was empty! Overall we had a pleasant stay and we will be visiting Cala Dor again!
