We stayed at the Emperador in July 2008. The hotel overall was excellent. The reception staff were very helpful as were the porters. The room was very clean with nice decor. It had good facilities, TV, radio, mini bar (expensive), toiletries, hairdryer, safe etc.. It was a little small with no view from the window so was a little dark. We stayed on a room only basis so I cant comment on the breakfast. The hotel is close to all bars, restaurants, shops and sights, the palace can be seen from the roof top pool. The pool area was the best thing about the hotel and I would recommend it to anyone staying in summer. The drinks were very expensive though (5 euros for a soft drink) and they do not allow you to take your own drinks with you. We took our own but in a bag! Metro station is very close and also only 20-25 euros for a taxi to the airport. All round and excellent hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (2 couples). The rooms were spotless, breakfast very nice, lots of choice. Weather was brilliant so we used the rooftop pool every afternoon until kicking out time about 8pm. Rooftop pool bar a little expensive though. Showers and changing rooms available by the pool which made it easier to freshen up just before leaving for our flight - pool towels and sunbeds available too. Location of hotel brilliant - right in the heart of the action. Hotel just up from the metro which we used from the airport - really easy and only 2 euros each way. Great holiday - love Madrid.

Well located hotel. The quality needs to be improved, rooms need refurbishment. Breakfast was not very well organized, the breakfast itself OK. Roof top pool/bar very nice.

Great Location for everything. Hotel very good standard, breakfast very good value, room spotless and comfy beds. Staff very efficient. Pool area lovely, but did not use as weather not up to much. I would recommend it and I will be staying there again. Only downside was that the bar was closed when returned from a night on the town. Mind you it was after 1.00am - good thing really.

Great hotel, very central,for eating, shaop and night life and tour bus. Helpful staff, rooms a good size. But the icing on the cake is the roof top pool, area was very well kept and towels provided.

The hotel is in a wonderful position for all the sights and is in walking distance for all of them.On entering the foyer it is so grand and large.The reception is always well attended, english is spoken but not always understood. We requested a non smoking room, and were a little disapointed that there was torn wallpaper, and looked like it could do with being decorated, although it was spotless and always kept that way. It did not have a tea making tray, suggest you take a kettle if you like a cuppa.The breakfast buffet was good, and the swimming pool area was super, plenty of beds and a nice menu if you wanted to eat there.The hotel will arrange a shuttle bus back to the airport, we paid 22 euros for the both of us, worth it, because the metro is a nightmare to get to the airport, but excellent for everyday use, buy a ten ticket pass, cheap and useful.So apart from the not so good decorations in the room, i would still return there, and Madrid is wonderful
