came bck today
29 August 2008
even though we were only B&B the food was plesant enough (the bacon could have been a bit warmer lol) - the entertainment was a bit hit and miss but what I cant fault this hotel for is the cleanliness - the rooms were cleaned everyday to a very high standard and the bedding changed every other day - the rooms were on the basic side and it would be better to book a room with a sea view as although we didnt have one the outlook was a bit dreary and plenty of pidgeon poo to look at - the location is fantastic for whatever you want to do - turn left for a quiet stroll along the marina and turn right for the hustle and bustle of bars / restaurants - i certainly will be returning

Just back from a very pleasant stay in El Puerto Hotel. Very crowded but that was probably because it was a Bank Holiday week. Hotel spotless. Room small but adequate , high up with a west facing view so lovely evening sun. Would definitely go again but probably not at this time of year

Re: El Puerto 11th march 2008
25 March 2008
Just got back from a very enjoyable stay at El Puerto in Fuengirola. We have never been to Fuengirola before but have to say we will definitley return. The hotel could not have been situated any better, across the road from the beach and right in the middle of the resort which is huge. The hotel was very nice and more then adequate despite what some reviews said. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. We could not believe the weather for march it was quite hot which was an added bonus. We only booked for 4 nights but wished it had been longer but hope to go for a week later in the year. All in all we had a great stay in Fuengirola. Mr & Mrs K Bradford, Co.Durham Young at heart couple.

January Break
31 January 2008
On arriving at the hotel we were pleased to see that on face value the interior of the hotel was not as bad as some reviews had implied. Indeed the reception was light and airy and spotlessly clean. Also the reception staff were very pleasant and spoke english very well. The room we were allocated was on the 8th floor of the smaller tower and it was overlooking the marina and out to sea. The views were magnificant. The rooms themselves are rather small as is the bathroom but they are quite adequate and again very clean if not a little dated in the decor.
The dining room is also a pleasant area. The staff here were a little glum although this could be because the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was very good with the kitchen staff continually replenishing the trays to make sure the food was hot. The evening meals were a bit repetitive but were always well cooked. The sweet was disappointing as there was no variety at all. At every meal the plates for the main course were kept very hot which is a pleasent change.
The week we arrived a new young lady had taken over as activities organizer. She was very good and tried very hard to get as many guests as possible to join in daytime and evening activities. We did feel that the bar prices were rather steep although they do have happy hour 2 for 1 every evening from 6 till 7. The bar staff came across as rather sullen but they were probably bored. More could be done by hotel management to promote evening entertainment which was sadly lacking.
We had a very enjoyable experience at this hotel and in this resort. We certainly would return in the early months of the year while it is still reasonably quiet as we did find it can get rather noisey outside the hotel on the weekend. This would be worse in summer months.

Winter su7nshine
29 January 2008
This is the second time we have stayed in El Puerto for Christmas and New Year and we again had a superb time with the Gala dinners being outstanding. During our 6 week stay we were comfortable in our room, however small it was, we could move around very well. The staff are superb and very friendly, we have taklen photos of the restaurant staff and the chefs in the kitchen, so we can send them to the hotel soon. As everyone else remarks the hotel is the best for being situated right on the sean front with views from the front bedrooms over the Marina and sea, the sun rising in the east gives a wonderful star to the day. Breakfast is great with lots of choice, and dinner on the normal evenings have a good selection especially the fish, Ray had fish every meal time, The nearness of the bus statio and train station is perfect for getting about to near resorts, quite cheaply, excellent leather goods from nearby Mijas, 1euro. 20 for a single journey which takes you up to the hillside resort of Mijas, a trip to Malaga is only a journey by train for 2 eoris 50. It is nice if you can try a bit of Spanish to the locals, they will teach you the correct pronouciation, if you are stuck. We are planning to go back again in December 2008. I should also state that this is the third holiday here, the first in Oct 2006 which decided us to go back for Christmas.

Festival week in Fuengirola
25 October 2007
The huge advantage of this hotel is its location. Everything is within easy walking distance. "Everything" includes the many, varied and lively resturants, gift shops and the clean and interesting town itself. Also within easy reach is the single line railway which is not only cheap to ride, but frequent and comfortable. The line runs between Fuengirola and Malaga with many interesting stops along the way.
The Hotel itself is very pleasant inside with quiet and comfortable seating areas, a well stocked bar and a very pleasant resturant providing more than adequate fare; in fact, my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised at the choice of food and the many fish options available.
The only criticism we would make is that the rooms are rather small, no double beds and very limited storage space.
Having said that, we had a great time for the whole week.

Just back after 7 nights break in this hotel. Location absolutely perfect, literally within a short walking distance of everywhere you would want to go. Straight opposite sea and harbour just beside that. Restaurants literally around the corner, and yet there was no noise at night. The rooms are very small, and could certainly be modernised but bathroom was modern. The level of cleanliness was good, though having carpet in bedroom didnt seem to be a good idea to us. Maid service everyday and staff were very friendly. We had breakfast included in our very reasonable deal, and it was basic but good. Great value for money.

holiday with grandchildren
17 October 2007
we booked at this hotel to give myself and my daughter in law a rest from selfcatering we booked on a half board basis .the breakfast was very nice and it was great for the kids to pick what they wanted to eat .the lunch and dinner were not bad but we ate out a few times .the hotel it self was very clean and the rooms were tidied ever day and we were given clean towels everyday as well .we were on the 8th floor of the small tower which turned out to be a blessing cause we only had to come out of our room and go up 3 flights of steps to the roof top pool.i know we went late in the year but it would have been nice if there had been more entertainment on and a bit of fun time for the kids . there is happy hour everynight between 6 and 7 2 4 1 . but after that the drinks were quite pricey so we would go out for a drink at night overall a good time was had by all and we will go back again to fuengirola but go back to selfcatering

Fantastic Location
02 October 2007
Just returned from a four night break at this hotel. The position of the hotel is ideal, couldnt be better! The rooms are fairly small and basic but clean enough. Had a lovely view of the sea/harbour. The food was average, on reflection i probably wouldnt pay the extra for half board as its so cheap to eat out, however you can chose to have breakfast and either lunch or dinner. The staff were friendly. In all, was what you would expect from a 3* hotel.

Thumbs up for the El Puerto :-)
27 July 2007
Just returned from an 8 night break staying at the El Puerto. The hotel is probably situated in one of the best places within Fuengirola. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Hotel rooms are very clean, air conditioned and clean towels left daily. Breakfast is great - wide choice of foods. Staff are extremely helpful. We changed rooms to the front of the hotel which meant we had the magnificant views of the sea. Would definately stay at the El Puerto again!

Nice hotel near the centre
16 July 2007
El puerto hotel is a suitable hotel for all, very centrally located a few metres away from the train station, just in front the beach, half way between the two sides of Fuengirola (Los Boliches y El Castillo). Very close from bars, shops,...People working there are friendly. My friend and I (around 28 years old) had a good time in that hotel (5 days). Towels, etc changed every day if wished.

El Puerto review
27 June 2007
last minute booking found this hotel on internet, not sure what to expect, but pleasantly surprised. Clean and airy, very happy staff, nothing too much trouble, food a little unusual, but plenty of it, air conditioning superb, , as temp in 80's mid June. lovely view of harbour and main strip, very close for beach and shops bars and restarants if required, but also plenty of settees etc in entrance hallway of hotel if needed for quiet sit down to gather second wind.
plenty for children to do close by, and lovely pool on rooftop, but did require umbrellas to shade you from sun. otherwise will definately go back again.

El Puerto Hotel, Fuengirola
10 May 2007
Really great hotel, centrally located with hundreds of shops, markets, restraunts, pubs, bars, clubs and the beach right on your doorstep. Never experience major noice at night.Staff wree very helpfull and SO friendly. Breakfast was a large selection and of a good standard. The area of fuengirola is great for any ages. There is so much on sight that a car isn't needed but much more that you could drive to around like water parks. There's a GREAT zoo 10mins from hotel which was amazing, being able to stand inches from crocodiles etc.The hotel was clean and rooms wre nicely laid out. Great pool on the roof and perfectly safe for kids.I recommend to all!!!

Hotel in good position - on sea front - near bus & train station & close to shops etc. A bit noisy on one evening (the Saturday)otherwise OK. Rooms clean & comfortable if a little small Food good but a little predictable Staff friendly & helpful eg arranged early breakfast for us on last day as we were leaving early. Price very reasonable The hotel structure is of two towers. The circular structure leaves a well in the centre and although there is a wall some 4' tall on each floor could be dangerous for children who are inclined to climb or mess about.

Just back from 2nd visit to El Puerto, just as good as last time, clean rooms, ample food - sometimes can be not very warm but management introduced heating under the serving dishes during the week which changed this. Last time we were at back of hotel, this time on side and experienced some noise from disco but will definately go back.

this hotel is very convenient for all amenities in fuengirola, the beauty of it is you just walk across the road and you are on the beach which is cleaned every day, and a walk of five minutes will take you to the marina, where there are trips along the coast to benalmedna. As for arriving at the airport there is no need for an expensive taxi, just take the train for the cost of 1.80 euros and then its a short walk to the hotel, The staff are very efficient, cleanliness is top class and breakfast will suit most tastes, great place for a short break.

Review of 'EL PUERTO' 6 weeks of sunshine
25 January 2007
We have stayed at El Peurto before and this time we were in the shorter Tower. The room was comfortable with a balcony having a view of the sea and the sun from 11.30 am 'til sunset over the mountains. The linen was changed regularly by very pleasant house-keepers. The dinners at Christmas and New Year were absolutely first class, however the buffet for normal times were very much of a sameness, and served on cold plates, until someone must have complained and suddenly hot plates were on offer for the hot section of the buffet, much better. Of course the titles for the meals were not quite matching our idea of what it was supposed to be e.g. veal was not veal but beef, and some pork was actually ham, however we can forgive the Spanish Chefs as this is quite normal we believe. Breakfast was always excellent and the salads were very good as was the fish. The price was excellent for what was provided, and the staff were always most helpful. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance of both train and bus stations, with connections to lots of places, far away as Seville, Cordoba and Granada on the bus and Malaga on the train. If your budget is small the train stops at the airport and you can walk from the terminus at Furingirola. We shall return.

El Peurto Hotel Welcomes your to Spain
31 December 2006
My partner and I had an excellent 10 days oer Christmas at the El Peurto Hotel in Feungerola which is betweeen Marbella and Malaga- ideally situated - no need for a car 5 mins from the excellent train and bus service which is so reasonably priced. The Hotel is overlooking the Marina and this is the second time of staying after accidently finding on the Internet last year. Value for money is amazing - the buffet style food means you can have as little or as much as you require. I go half board then you can sample other places for one of your meals. The rooms are very cosy with either a sea or a town view - I have always been high up 5/8th floor with a view over the marina waking up to the sun rising on the horizon. Over Christmas the entertainment is fantastic - the best Flamenco dancers in the South of Spain and Christmas Day entertainment very good. There is a computer in the very spacious marble floored reception area and plenty of chairs/setttes to sit and have a relaxing drink. The staff are vey happy and a lot have been there for years which shows they enjoy the Hotel. Highly recommend this Hotel.

First impression of hotel was good, close to beach and other amenities. Reception staff were friendly and able to understand us!!!! We really should take the time to learn Spanish. Rooms basic but clean, which is important. View of sea, perfect!!! We are a group of 3 who do ask for too much but would like hot food. Every morning and evening we had to pop our food into the microwave as it was cold. Also the choice wasn't brilliant but then we didn't pay very much for half board so can't complain.
Did we have a nice holiday? Very nice thank you.

Review of 'El Puerto'
14 October 2006
One of the three lifts inthe larger tower block was still not repaired despite hearing from others that it had been out of action for weeks, being on the 15th floor left us a bit frustrated, however the views from the room were spectacular, so that knda made up for the lift. Rooms were cleaned daily, pleasant friendly maids and staff in restaurant were really friendly. The hotel is situated minutes from the shops and bars and just across the road from the beach. The bus station is 5 or 6 minutes away, local buses cheap to destinations like Ronda and Mijas, the train to Malaga was only just over a couple of Euros each and well worth it, other stop offs like Torromolinos interesting with its winding hillside shopping street. We love the resort and look forward to a return visit. Make the most of the trips to Tangiers and Granada plus Gilbraltar offered through the hotel.

Nice clean hotel. Rooms basic but clean. Good central position in town, might be a bit noisy in the height of the season. Rooftop pool may a bit dangerous for small children and may get crowded in summer. Food OK. Only had B&B, but enough choice of hot and cold breakfast to suit most. The rooms whilst being basic were very good beds exceptionally clean and the decor very nice. Television in the room. Whilst we were booked for half board we only had breakfast and this was one of best I have ever had abroad. There was something for everyone and the dining room was clean and well kept with waiters and waitresses cleaning and relaying tables all the time. We stayed at hotel El Puerto i Fuengirola from marts 30. to april 2. The hotel i situated in the middle of the City just across the road from the beach an the harbour an all the small nice harbour-restaurants. Just around the corner from Las Rampas. Perfect! A nice and clean hotel with small arrangements in the evenings. we liked it very much and will most cetainly be back. The room we had was perhaps a little small for a whole week, but for 3 nights it was fine. The breakfast was good. The evening meal not too much speak of, but at least eatable! Best of all: The swimmingpool on the roof! Nice and clean as well. A fantastic vieuv and room for sunbathing. The staff was professional and nice. We had no problems at all, just a good time.

Hotel was suprisingly good for a three star. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels etc an the breakfast offered a lot of choice. Some really lovely staff. The roof top pool was a bonus with amazing views. The hotel was located perfectly for all amenities such as train back to malaga airportonly a five minute walk away and the hotel overooked the beach and everything we needed was only a short walk. All 6 of us (3 couples)liked the hotel and would return again. Our only down point was our rooms over looked a busy street at the rear of the hotel which on a friday and saturday night was very noisy until 5am. It is worth paying the extra to have a front facing room to avoid this. overall a fab holiday.

Brilliant location
06 February 2006
We stayed at the El Puerto for 10 days at the end of January 2006 and found it to be in an extremely convenient location and providing very good value for money accommodation - based on Alpharooms half board rates. Our room on the sixth floor of the lower tower was compact, adequately furnished and scrupulously clean. The room was cleaned and towels were changed daily, and bedding was changed twice during our short stay. The buffet meals provided a variety of wholesome food - maybe it could become a bit boring for people staying for a month or so. But still, you get what you pay for! The hotel does not have a car park and on street parking is rather difficult especially if one of your hobbies is not collecting parking tickets. Private car parks are very expensive! During our stay at El Puerto, the vast majority of guests were 'mature' and, on the whole, enjoying a relaxing holiday despite the varied weather. In the hotel there seemed to be little or nothing to occupy younger people othet than the roof top swimming pool- nevertheless there was plenty going on in the vicinity of the Hotel.
Good value for money! Brilliant location! Not much going for youngsters.
Oh! and the staff are extremely efficient. But if you expect a smile you'll be left wanting!!

Hotel is in good location - just across the road from the beach, 5 mins to bus and train stations, shops and restaurants near-by. The hotel itself was middling quality - breakfast awful (stale bread, horrible orange squash), some staff friendly, especially the lovely girl who arranged entertainment but men on reception and waiters very unwelcoming. Doesn't have a playground as advertised on the web-site but one fairly close by on the beach. Hotel perfectly acceptable for a short break but I'd go self-catering next time.

My mother and I visited this hotel for a short five day break in October. The location was superb and our room overlooked the marina and straight along the promenade. The room was clean and towels were changed daily, but we were rather disappointed that the bedlined was not changed during our stay. The food was good and we found the variety on offer at both breakfast and dinner to be satisfactory. We would definitely return here for an out of season holiday but feel it would be too noisy during the high season.
